Normally not one to post reviews, but stopped in yesterday out of coincidence of being in the area. Had a super niche problem to the bike that other shops struggled to diagnose and fix. the guy i talked to wasn't even in service, but incredibly knowledgeable of all things bikes. he (sadly i didn't catch a name) went out of his way to help me with this problem, going to the back and trying a variety of spare parts till one fit perfect. issue has been fixed, and the bike has never felt better. that being said, the building is super cool, prices fair, staff is incredibly friendly, and they know their stuff for sure. definitely my go to bike shop in the valley read more

I'm from Northern California and I initially made a purchase from a bike shop in San Diego, CA, which according to their website had the bike that I wanted available to ship in June. A couple of weeks later, after not hearing back from them, I email them to ask the status on my order. They reply back and say that it's back ordered until July - August. I request a refund back from them. One of my friends finds Bob's Bicycles online showing that they have stock of the bike that I want. I email them on the evening of 6/23 to make sure that the inventory they were showing online was correct. The following morning at around 6:00 am CA time I get a reply back from Bryant confirming that the quantity online was correct. He tells me if I placed the order in by 1 PM their time that it would ship out that same day. The bike ships out that same day via UPSG from Boise Idaho on 6/24 and I receive it immediately 2 days later on 6/26. Talk about fast service! I am definitely impressed! Once again thank you Bob's Bicycles for your prompt response to my emails and for getting my bike out ASAP! Even though you're a couple of states away I'll definitely will be shopping there again. Staff is unhelpful and standoffish. They change prices without updating tags on the floor. They have a little piece of paper posted at the register so they think they can scam you at checkout. They've "only got four people working there" and they're all too busy coming up with excuses to help customers. They think they're the only shop in town and they don't mind telling you when you question their b.s. This local business can't die off fast enough. Save yourself the trouble, buy online. read more

Bought a bike from here recently. A nice Haro bike that I LOVE! I hadn't had a bike in YEEEEAAAARSSSS! I mean, YEARS! haha! Went in there looking to spend about 4-500 tops! I am a student so, I need to budget, but needed the bike to get around easier. I bought my bike on sale and it came to $402...fantastic! The help there is some of the best I think I have ever received! Jesse helped my roommate and I with anything and everything when it came to questions about bikes, accessories, tuning up the bike etc. He truly is a great guy and goes above and BEYOND for his customers! So, if you looking for a bike....go here for sure! Don't buy a buy at Walmart or Target....especially when you can get a great quality bike for the same price or close to it, at Bobs. Also, one other guy there, I think his name was John, not sure though. He helped us when we went back in for some accessories and whatnot. Another great guy, very knowledgeable, very friendly, and stays with you to help you with anything. He and Jesse are great guys! Jesse will even have little conversations with you about random stuff. He really makes you feel more like a friend of his rather than just another customer. He is excellent at customer service :) The store has amazing bikes! I had a five star experience purchasing my two beach cruisers from Bob's bicycles last summer. The sales staff helped me select the bikes which were right for me. I went all over town trying bikes, and the ones I liked the most (Sun brand) were in stock at Bob's. After the initial purchase, the mechanics have helped me keep both bikes in good working order. Fast forward to a week ago. I brought a different beach cruiser into the shop (one I had purchased used, elsewhere, but had parts added to it from Bob's -bicycle seat, kick stand, crankset, etc.). I was buying a basket for it and asked if they could help me find the leak in the rear tire. A gentleman there took my bike to the mechanic area and patiently checked the valve stem. He grabbed a new valve stem, added some 'slime' to the tire, and pumped the tire back up to pressure, all for no charge. I've had no problems since! He did this without knowing I had bought two bikes from his business in the past. It turns out, this gentleman who helped me is also the owner of Bob's bicycles. His name is Vern (spelling?), and he has owned the shop since he took it over from Bob in the 70's. Vern has smile lines in his eyes and appears to truly enjoy what he does. I feel really good about supporting his business, him, and his staff. I'm appreciative of his help with the flat tire for free, and with his staff's help in the past helping me buy and repair my bikes. Three cheers and five stars for a great, local business! read more

Well, a note of disappointment. This is the second bike I've purchased from Bob's and have been giving them high praise. I guess that they are over loaded at the moment, with the virus having everyone on bikes needing work. I brought in a wheel and tire from my relatively new bike (2 mo) which cost over $2400. The tire developed a leak from punctures on the spoke side of the tube. They said they couldn't make any allowance for the repair as I have had the bike for a few months. I had no choice but to buy a new tube. Additionally they suggested adding another liner. Total cost $23.00 including $8.00 labor. I get home and find that the tire is all wonky on the rim, bulging in all directions. Only noticed when spun on the bike. I now have to fix it myself. Thanks UPDATE: After several hours of trying to get the tire to seat on the rim, I finally decided to remove the tire from the rim. Turns out that the additional rubber liner which was installed added too much thickness for the tire to seat. after removing it and leaving the already installed OEM version, the tire went on without an issue. You would think they would have known better. Still very upset. read more

Bought a new Giant trance 3 mtn bike $2k and right off the bat it needed some adjustments because the smallest cog was defective so after waitng a week I called the shop to see if the part had arrived Bob answered and said we haven't had time so I said what the hell I get a new bike and u cant take 5 min to order the new part ? So finally after bugging them I got a response that the part was ordered. 3 weeks go by I take the bike down cuz this guy in the shop idk his name always where's the hat said he would fix it he only has a half do so come in early. So I get there and Bob was back by the shop and I tell him what's going on and he starts getting a invoice slip out like I'm going to check the bike in and wait 3 more weeks finally the man who was going to fix the bike for me sees me and then Bob is like oh your bizy il do it for you and he changed the smallest cog and says here u go . So I test in the parking lot and as soon as i back peddle the whole rear derailleur got all twisted up so I took it back in basically was like Bob isnt touching my bike anymore then the original guy finally comes over to help he adjusted it and sent me in my way . Well when I start looking over everything the derailleur cable has been completely torn to hell so thanks Bob! I wont be coming back! read more

What a cool bike shop! My brother bought several bikes from them in the last year and told me I had to go there and check it out. The owner helped us out and was calling us by our first names and was so engaging. John was so friendly and helpful. He helped us find the perfect bike for my son. He had it set up exactly for him. We rode on the Greenbelt all the next day. I decided to get the exact bike for me. We went the next day, they happen to have 2 left, still in the box. Five star service! I bought a Marin Muirwoods long distance online since there is no Marin dealer in Hawaii and Marin had referred me to Bob's as their only authorized online dealer. Got a good price for the bike and even with shipping it ended up being a reasonable price. Justin took the time to work with me to figure out the most affordable shipping method to get the bike to me in Honolulu. Ended up using USPS Parcel Select which isn't fast but was more affordable than UPS Ground. They built up the bike then took it apart just enough to ship to me a their own heavy duty cardboard carton, not just the cheapo overseas cardboard boxes the bikes may have been originally shipped inside of. They packed the bike frame with plenty of foam padding, made sure the plastic spacers were inserted between the disc brake pads, had PVC tubes over the axles to make sure the fork and frame didn't get smashed inward, used plenty of plastic wrap to hold parts onto sturdy cardboard within the carton so nothing would fall out if the carton opened up by accident. Put the bike together once I pulled everything out of the shipping carton, nothing damaged, nothing missing, documents enclosed, overall a great experience and I think I'll get more bikes long distance from Bob's. read more

I bought a new Electra bike from Bobs about a month ago. It had to be special ordered but they let me try out the same type of bike with a different paint job. The bike arrived exactly as promised and all the extras I bought were quickly installed for me. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. This is the second bike I have purchased from Bobs. My last bike was purchased over 20 years ago... A mountain bike that is still in excellent condition thanks to the folks at Bobs who do tune ups when needed. BOB'S BICYCLE is getting a 5-Star rating from me because they are my HERO... My younger son who's 15th birthday is at the end of this month and his birthday wish was for a 2019 SE Beast Mode Ripper. Living in CA and searching on line for a 2019 model bike is not easy when your already 7 months into 2020. All but 1 online bike company here in CA (800+ miles south of me) had the bike available but it was a "Fall Preorder" and the soonest that bike company could get their hands on this bike was in September. This wasn't going to work, I needed that bike this month. I continue to search online for the 2019 SE Beast Mode and I came across Bob's Bicycles site from Boise Idaho had "1" 2019 SE Beast Mode Ripper in stock. I really needed to get this bike, I made that long distance phone call to Bob's Bicycle and a wonderful man (sorry I dint recall his name) answered the phone confirmed they did and deed have the "1" 2019 SE Beast Mode Ripper available. I had 2 questions for this wonderful man who answered the phone.. Q1: "Do they ship to CA?" the response was "YES" .... Q2: "Was how soon would I get the bike" and his answer was "Thursday" and I would need to continue to order the bike online I told him that he just made my day, I was so glad that I called and extremely excited that they do ship to CA....I was so ECSTATIC, I felt like I just won the SUPER LOTTO.
