I hired Closets by Design for a custom 6 year old's closet. They had a promotion and the catalogue…read morelooked promising. Plus- my interior designer referred them as a moderate priced closet shop. The first designer (a young woman- seemed inexperienced) rendered a design that was fine as far as I could tell- but left a ton of negative space (e.g. 5-6 feet) above the cabinatry. When the installers did the job, the drawers bumped up against the doors- so a full redesign was required. On the 2nd design, the final option was TOO HIGH for my daughter to reach much of the hanging + shelving. The job cost $2,200 with little to no quality control or oversight of the design process. The company uses HAND DRAWN designs (haven't integrated to digital design tools) and it was nearly impossible to verify the design was right. For this kind of hassle- I recommend going to IKEA a working with a specialist there. You'll save both time AND money.

Four Years Later…read more.. The Chicago Organizer is still great at helping me get all of my stuff organized and manageable! After I moved house, I had so many rent-a-crates to unpack and return very quickly. I felt overwhelmed and couldn't move two feet without hitting a box, and unpacking by myself was too slow. I contacted Terri again. Terri couldn't come out to personally help me within my limited window of time, but she has fantastic team members. Kammy came to help me, stayed for just under five hours, and we unpacked every rent-a-crate plus all of the cardboard boxes! There is a little left to do in order to make my new place feel like home, but Kammy's help means that 95% of the work is done. I am so pleased with The Chicago Organizer. Terri and Kammy are kind, professional, quite fair in their pandemic requirements, and most of all -- HELPFUL. Money well spent again!

AND IT WAS THE BEST GIFT I EVER RECEIVED! It is truly the gift that keeps on giving. **Hint hint, people- Christmas is less than 3 weeks away, if you are struggling for ideas. ;-) Schae and Britney were spectacular! They rolled into my place like two boss ladies ready to get down to business (but not in a scary way lol)! They put on a fun playlist and took charge, which is what I like and needed. They let me help (obviously not required, but desired on my part to learn) and taught me helpful tips and tricks along the way to maintain the organization. Best of all, they knew how to prioritize my projects in the order that made most sense, and maximized efficiency and my time with them. Not a minute wasted and no stone (aka leftover crap I didn't need anymore) left unturned! AND, like, how helpful and convenient it is that they haul away as many donations for you as they can when they leave?! At the end of the day (literally), I had the best nights sleep that I'd had in years, knowing that there was (finally!) a place for everything and everything in its place. Not only did M2O grant me peace of mind, they motivated me to keep going and see what I can accomplish on my own with what I learned from them. And the productivity levels on all the DIY projects I've set aside over the years are through the roof! After we paid, an employee pulled us to the side saying he didn't see my boyfriend scan Zebra Cakes. We had to go to the back with our kids, which was embarrassing. The total was only $12.69, and we explained it was an honest mistake from moving fast with kids. Taking our IDs and pictures over that amount was excessive. For loyal customers, this was handled very poorly.

The newly assigned designer, Zena, has been nearly impossible to reach -- she routinely ignores calls and voicemails, leaving me chasing information that should have been communicated from the start. When I finally did hear back, I was met with conflicting stories, misinformation, and zero accountability regarding payments, design options, and follow-ups. To make matters worse, I was never informed that a portion of my payment hadn't been received -- something any competent company would have addressed immediately. Instead, I only found out the day of installation, while I was working. This level of negligence and disorganization is completely unacceptable. There is a total lack of communication within the team, no consistency, and no follow-through. Every step has been marked by confusion, frustration, and empty promises. It's clear this company has no respect for its clients, their time, or their homes. If you're considering Closet Factory -- don't. I gave them several opportunities to make things right, and only after I personally intervened were a few issues finally addressed. Even then, the overall experience was deeply disappointing. Whether due to poor management or internal issues, I will not consider Closet Factory again. Very poor customer service and extremely poor communication. Having an interchangeable system really is nice and the ability to return or purchase more parts as needed. We only shop for Elfa during the yearly discount sale around winter time :-). Otherwise the pricing is definitely high for low cost IKEA type items. Staff is always friendly and helpful to custom design and point out options that we might not have thought of. Also purchased stand alone Elfa items and used the Bilt app to put them together. Very nice to zoom in and better understand how to put things together.
