A few years ago, I wrote a glowing review for this company and was excited to tell my friends about it. But I have to revise my review now and warn people not to get involved with this business. Not only did I find that as a client they started to raise their rates without notice to make more money off of me which was against the terms we originally agreed to (yes, Pam actually said this to me that they were raising my rates because they weren't making enough money), but when I requested that they provide me the receipts for my purchases (which they were supposedly holding and filing away as a service) I was told that they don't have a good filing system for receipts and couldn't provide them to me. I am absolutely floored by the lack of service and the lack of organization this company actually has behind the scenes. To have a name like Chicago Organized Home, I would expect that their back office would be organized but it is not. Take this advice from a former client, save your money and your time. I'm not sure what the average age of clients is for this company, but I was helping my single aunt move out of her condo and unfortunately recommended this company based on reviews and location. Not only do they charge an arm and leg for every small detail but they don't let you chime in and add your own suggestions because they have a very regimented way of doing things that some may like but was not kosher with us. You have to respect others belongings and certain items have to be handled with extra special care and clearly a rushed job resulted in the breakage of a few sentimental items that in the end they didn't want to address or believe. read more

A year and a half ago, I left a positive review for this company, after they very competently ran an errand for us, in a way that was pleasant and professional. Imagine our surprise, 1.5 years later, when they suddenly charged our account out of the blue several hundred dollars. We politely telephoned (leaving a message on voicemail) and emailed (to two different email IDs), informing them of the error of this illegitimate charge, giving them the opportunity to correct the error. These messages, unfortunately, have gone unanswered. It's bad enough to charge someone several hundred dollars for no good reason. It's even worse to ignore a polite, legitimate query regarding such an illegitimate charge. So we have been obliged to contact our credit card company to instigate a charge-back, with all the associated hassle and wasting of time involved. The agreement we signed with this company expired months ago. Our credit card info should not have been retained. Our queries should not have gone unanswered. How do you expect consumers to entrust you with their credit card information if you abuse it? UPDATE: The owner of the business messages me today, to say that she has checked her records thoroughly and my review is a case of mistaken identity. "Nothing about your experience sounds familiar," she says. "I have been in business for 10 years and have not had any experience like this. I really pride myself on providing good service to my customers," she writes, asking me to consider removing my review. So I checked my email and located the chain of correspondence that documents this incident, identifying Pam by name, showing the exact amount of the refund she ultimately issued (after I threatened a charge-back). And I responded promptly to her message, offering to forward her the chain of correspondence, including her refund, complete with timestamp, to refresh her memory if she wishes. As I also stated, it's bad enough that she did what she did in 2016. To deny that it ever happened is even worse. It would have been much more appropriate to extend an apology. read more

I can't say enough good things about Pam Sherman and Chicago Anytime Assistants, but I'll try. I am relatively new to Chicago and I don't have a car. The other day I had a very bad spill on the ice and I realized that I had I had to go to the doctor and I needed someone to help me around the house. Garbage was piling up and I couldn't really clean up the place, or even get my mail, because I had sprained & broken part of my ankle. I called Pam and before she came over she sent me a follow up email. Pam came over and was incredibly friendly, put me at ease and the house looked great. Then she took me to the hospital, took me to get x-rays and then came back later to pick me up from the ER at about 7pm, even though she had plans. She was more than just a personal assistant: she was a great human being. I was a wreck and I needed some support and she was unfailingly upbeat, brought me candy and made me feel like I had nothing to worry about. She handled finding and scheduling the movers, packing up our stuff, and then helping us to unpack and get our new place more organized than we'd ever have been able to figure out on our own. This service is a total game changer. We used them to move into our new house, and they coordinated everything from beginning to end: reserving the elevators in our former high-rise, booking the movers, doing all the packing, unpacking and set-up in the new house. It probably would have taken us weeks to do on our own, but our move happened on a Thursday and we were all set up in our new house the very next day! I had posted an ad on Craigslist looking for a personal assistant - and lord, the responses I got! But one stood out far ahead of the rest, and that was Pam's, on behalf of Chicago Anytime Assistants. As a tax professional, I was faced with the daunting task of moving, on top of keeping up with my regular life. Knowing that the two together would cripple me, I was looking for some help with organizing the move, not to mention packing all of my nonsense. I've always felt overwhelmed and irresponsible because of the home/organizational things I needed to do and never actually got around to doing, but I didn't realize how badly it felt until I caved and got Chicago Anytime Assistants to help me out. They are professional and friendly in perfect balance, very fair in their pricing (task rabbit is wayyyy more pricey), never tried to overcharge, and also got everything done that needed to be done, and they were great about offering me a few solutions (not too many to overwhelm me) for each task and then letting me choose. Honestly, what a huge relief, my life is getting in order thanks to them. Pamela, Elizabeth, Hannah and Kate are all wonderful. I know it may seem like "oh I'm going to get to this, I don't need to pay anyone," I went on like that for years. Pam is truly awesome, and has been a real lifesaver for me! A few months ago, I moved my father with Alzheimer's from Chicago to the DC area. As an only child, I had the responsibility of dealing with his house in Chicago. But also as an only child, I had the responsbility of keeping my dad feeling safe and oriented in his new home. So I couldn't afford to spend lots of time organizing my dad's old house. Pam had a staff member go through the piles of paper strewn around the house, organizing them per my specifications. I received frequent email updates on the progress of the job, she found a shredding service to dispose of old financial documents, and sent me the most crucial documents through the mail. At my next visit to the house, I was able to quickly sort through remaining material, and leave Pam with instructions for mailing or disposal of materials, instead of taking precious time to move things myself. We met the day of my departure, and I received an e-mail that the boxes to be mailed were on their way before I even got on the plane myself! Pam is the model of efficiency. My daughter was about to move into a new apartment at school. Problem: she was halfway around the world, and I was 800 miles away in another city. She needed to buy some furniture and have it moved in prior to her arrival. The store wouldn't deliver unless I came in personally to make the purchase, and then I'd need someone to be there to accept the delivery. It seemed like the only solution was to fly to Chicago, rent a car and do it myself. Not wanting to spend an extra $1,000 or so, I did some searching on the internet, and found Chicago Anytime Assistants. The reviews I read about this company seemed too good to be true, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to call. Boy did I get lucky! I spoke with Pam, who seemed bright, efficient and very willing to handle the assignment. Her fee was very reasonable, and I felt confident that I could avoid having to fly to Chicago to take care of it. It's a long story, but in completing the assignment, Pam ran into numerous obstacles - none of them her fault - that caused this project to take 3 times as long as she had anticipated. She dealt with each problem intelligently, kept in touch with me by phone and email every step of the way, and promptly scanned and emailed receipts. As it turns out, the job required organizational skills, diplomatic skills, and a willingness to go way above and beyond the scope of the original project. From our first conversation, I knew this was going to be a great experience. Pam and I spoke on the phone and arranged a time to meet to discuss my task. Pam came prepared with a detailed description about her business, how she works with clients, billing, and the types of services they provide. As a personal assistant 'newbie' I found all of that very helpful. We discussed my task and she documented everything throughout the conversation. When she got back to the office she followed up with a written summary of what we agreed to. Throughout the time we worked together, I always received a detailed description of the tasks performed and any related costs within hours of our tasks being completed. I simply can't say enough positive things about this remarkable organization. They are AMAZING. I was drowning under both routine weekly tasks as well as a backlog of larger items that I needed to catch up on. They have changed my life. There are two things that are remarkable: 1) that they consistently find ways to surprise and delight and 2) the resourcefulness with which they solve problems. They're great at handling routine needs like changing light bulbs, getting things mailed, restocking the fridge and supplies, etc. I'd trust them with anything. But here's the diversity of projects they have handled FLAWLESSLY for me: sold a car -- including getting multiple quotes from dealers, getting a power of attorney, and executing all paperwork; secured all city stickers, etc. as I changed several vehicles; found a junk dealer to haul away materials on short notice; had a repairman determine our oven could not be fixed ... then provided me with five oven options, ordered my selection, arranged to be here for install and -- when the oven company wouldn't take the old one because a dead mouse was behind it -- both cleaned the dead mouse AND got that junk dealer to come take the oven. They had outlets installed by the bed, found someone to caulk the shower (and suggested we replace some parts while at it), figured out and ordered a cord that was missing from a printer, and a thousand other things. Amazing service that I cannot wait to make use of again. A friend gave me 5 hours of CAA time for my birthday. I hesitated calling as I could just see myself wasting the time. Then I decided to move. I called and Pam convinced me that use of the services for the moving process would be best use of the time. I supplemented the hours by purchasing more time. I took Pam at her word that CAA specialized in unpacking and organizing. Understatement! Everything was easy to arrange and they were flexible when my movers were running late. In 3 hours, 3 young ladies unpacked 99.9% of my boxes + a couple of suitcases, broke down the boxes, set up the kitchen, made two beds, and put my clothes, coats and shoes in the closets. I am still in awe that the next day, though I still had some post-move-in disarray but no boxes. They even took the boxes down to my building's dumpster. Chicago Anytime Assistants is a godsend. My fiance and I have used Pam and her staff for a few years now, mostly for dry cleaning, groceries, packages, errands etc. Once Pam actually helped me with a birthday gift by putting balloons all over my fiance's apartment while we were both at work. I have nothing but good things to say about this company and the assistants who work there. They are incredibly dependable and reasonably priced. It's such a stress reliever when you assign them to help you with something because you know with 100% confidence that it's going to be executed flawlessly. In addition to all the one-off jobs that CAA has done for us over the last few years, my already high opinion of them was recently elevated to a whole new status after our apartment flooded a couple months ago. Tons of our personal belongings got ruined and we were forced to move out immediately, resulting in a fairly stressful situation. Since we both work full-time, this would have been virtually impossible to do without CAA. Mary and a couple other assistants packed ALL of our stuff, took almost all of our clothes to dry cleaning, coordinated and oversaw the movers, and lined up a temporary storage unit. Once we found a new apartment, she once again oversaw the entire process from moving out of the storage unit into our new apartment and then unpacked the entire kitchen, organized clothes in the closet and generally got us moved in. I should have written this review sometime in 2011, when I first met Pam. At the time, I had moved to a condo some months before, and after still living out of boxes, it was time to call in a professional. Let me put it this way: I thought I needed a Pam, but I didn't know how much. Initially, I thought Pam (and her trusty team) would come in and take stuff out of boxes and put them where I said they should go. Eventually, however, I also discovered I didn't have time to tell them where to put stuff. Not a problem for Pam! They took stuff out of boxes, put them in logical places (i.e., the right places) labeled stuff with the label maker I had purchased but never used, set up a "donate" box so I could pull stuff out that should have never made the move in the first place, went to the store and purchased additional containers . . . you get the picture. This, my friends, was done in less than one week flat, for a very reasonable price. It was better than anything I could have pulled off even with time at my disposal. The work was so good that I was able to stay organized for many months--until my next move (more on that in a sec.). In the meantime, Pam helped me run all sorts of errands--flowers for friends, gift selection, etc. All was well, until we bought a house a year ago. I thought I'd be able to replicate what Pam had done in the old place, without Pam. I was wrong. I called Pam and she again came to the rescue. This time, I had even less time, more stuff, and more space. They went through the old drill, unpacked and organized stuff, etc. Ultimately, Pam was the one to have copies of my house keys made, and I trusted her and her team to let themselves in and out. I also needed a new cleaning service. Pam interviewed and selected the best and I was able to hire them after one meeting. In sum, Pam has saved me countless hours--and money. I really cannot say enough about how great my experience was with Chicago Organized Home. I recently moved and sought out help with packing, relocating, unpacking, and organizational services. Every step of the process was above and beyond what I could imagine. This was a one stop shop. They booked my movers, shopped for all of the necessary materials, and asked all of the right questions to determine exactly what I needed. The professional staff came to my new place and my old place and walked through exactly what I needed and wanted. After one day of packing, I could not believe just how much they were able to accomplish. They worked so efficiently and deliberately. There is no way I could have handled packing up our family on top of my busy work schedule. When they came to unpack at the new house, the magic really began. They organized my kitchen so perfectly... I am loving cooking in it. Our new house has a large finished attic that was wide open. The team brainstormed a plan for how to transform the room into a multipurpose playspace for my kids. They knew exactly what types of products would work in the space.
