We had been cleaning out our basement and had a ton of bank statements from twenty years ago plus other papers to shred. We pulled up to the back entrance and we were immediately greeted and asked if we needed a cart. Our boxes were weighed first and a price was given that was very reasonable. If I could give these guys six stars I would. I'm in the process of moving and needed to figure out what to do with four boxes of paper that needed to be shredded. Shred Spot offered mobile services which was exactly what I needed. They drove their big shred truck and let me watch from the monitor my massive amounts of paper being shredded in seconds...all in front of my condo building. It shredded the binder clips too! It was AWESOME! The Shred Spot guys (Danny and Abel) were so friendly and upbeat despite being stuck in traffic for almost 2 hours to get to me in downtown Chicago. I really appreciated their energy and enthusiasm for the job. I'm so glad Shred Spot was able to fit me in on such short notice too (same day as my request). I don't have a lot of documents to shred, but when I do, I want to make sure that what I want shredded is not mishandled - like financial documents. The Shred Spot is the place to go! They charge by the pound so for 15 pounds it cost me about three dollars. I watched them put the documents into the giant shredder and 'poof' they're gone! Location is a little tricky, but use your GPS. Signage at the shop tells you to ring the doorbell and employees will open the garage door to receive your documents. Easy - Peasey. read more

What an incredible find. I was downsizing from a 4,500 sq foot house and 3 grown children. I had over 30 years of accumulated confidential and sensitive documents. Mark and team did an outstanding job. I literally drove up, they weighed my documents, paid them, and watched them shred all my docs. I also found out that they destroyed hard drives, iPhone, and tablets. I came back and had several electronics destroyed. They sent me a certificate of destruction. I highly recommend this business. Shred Spot was great! I was able to make an appointment and watch my 93 lbs of documents shredded in about 10 minutes. It cost 25% of my local printing store (which just collects papers and shreds offsite). The staff was friendly and unloaded all my materials from my car. I had three big Ikea bags filled with papers to shred from purging my files and it only cost $15.25! I don't think you can beat their rate of 25 cents per pound. These guys were great. Had a couple old pcs for disposal what came out to over 200lbs of documents for shredding, they said come in, helped unload the car, charged by weight, prove was reasonable, was quick easy. It was my first time looking for professional shredding services, since I was recently tasked to take care of some of my elderly parent's documents. I was very pleased with shred spot. Alex was super responsive with emails and was able to squeeze me in for a next day appointment. At the drop off site, Dan was very polite and gave us as much time as we needed to sort through our documents. We were able to even view them shred the document and Dan even gave me a little tour on how they process the paper. Everything is recycled and the company is concerned with keeping things green. I live in the city and didn't seem to find anywhere nearby on Yelp to drop my stuff off. I was cat-sitting in Wilmette so made an appointment. I am glad I did. Staff was friendly and professional. You can even stay and watch your stuff be shredded - for real! Of course at a safe distance. I don't write many Yelp reviews but I would recommend if you need someone to drop off.
