Service: Host and staff were great - they came by our table several times to make sure we had everything we needed and to refill out waters. I have been to Woodblock multiple times and have enjoyed every experience. I particularly enjoy the outdoor seating in the summer time. Indoor seating is also great and the restaurant has a really cool bar area. Service is great. I notice a lot of the same staff each time I go which is wonderful to see. Making reservations is really easy and anytime I haven't made a reservation I haven't had to wait long. Woodblock burger is delicious. Add-on's can get pricey. Brisket Mac and cheese is my go-to and WOW is it good! My only complaint about the menu other than add-on pricing is I wish there were a few more main entree options. For drinks, the pecan pie porter was delicious and the glass of Pinot Grigio hit the spot. I'd love to try some of their signature cocktails sometime. Overall highly recommend! read more

Making it a fun loud atmosphere with really strong drinks and funny people! My whole family came in around 8pm on a Tuesday and it was PACKED!! We didn't have reservations but to our suprise they were able to imedietly get us a seat! The women who took us to our table seemed kind of high, but hey it added to the fun atmosphere to the place. Suprisingly the service was decent for how busy it was, though all the workers here did seem kind of stressed. We were brought our food and drinks about 10 minutes after placing our order and it was all delicious!! I was very happy with each dish we ordered though I wouldn't expect less from a place like this. I couldn't recommend the tomato soup enough, it was some of the best I've found in the area. To top our meal off we ordered dessert, 2 scoops of ice cream, strawberry shortcake and passionfruit. Both the ice creams were pretty decent but very overpriced for the quality and size of the scoops. We had our eye on the carrot cake as well and knew we had to give it a try, which absolutely didn't disappoint! After hearing some great lauding advice to check out Woodblock, I finally made the drive up to Redmond to put the restaurant to the test. Woodblock houses a really laid-back vibe with a wide array of alcohol. It's also located right next to the main center square, which is also really nice on a beautiful summer day. But I'm here for the food, as per usual. I was quickly seated and I ordered: The Woodblock burger with pork belly (+$3) Scotch Egg Let's start off with the egg. Beautifully cooked egg, and the yolk just oozes out so gracefully. It's a really unique concept that you have to try at least once. It's a bit on the pricier side, but it was definitely not bad. My only complaint, which is a bit of a deal-breaker for me and caused me to take a triple-take, was that the grilled onions were ice-cold. Not lukewarm, but cold. Like it was taken out from the depths of a refrigerator. I NEVER had cold grilled onions, and I was such in shock and utter disbelief that I had to flag down a waiter to ask. Apparently, the onions do come cold and serve as a salad? I don't like that answer one bit, as I prefer my raw onions cooked and piping hot. Not a fan of that at all. The burger wasn't bad. Not the worst and far from the best. The burger itself was not flavored really well and it was just a bit bland. HOWEVER. *pause for effect* The pork belly was easily the star of the show. The saving Grace. The clutch Hail Mary. It was fatty and juicy and definitely saved the burger and Woodblock from a 3-star review. All in all, not a bad meal. I understand it was a Sunday evening, 7 pm, and I hadn't realized the place closed in an hour, but the kitchen shouldn't have half-assed it the way they did. It was my gf's birthday and she was traveling the next day, so we decided to have a nice dinner before her trip. So we decided to split an entree and order a number of appetizers, decided on the $32 charcuterie spread, roasted Brussel sprouts, and a Scotch egg. Sprouts were passable but when the Scotch egg was presented, it positively squelched out the yolk. This surprises both my gf and me; never seen one do that. We send it back, have it struck off the bill which they were happy to do. When I asked the ... I presume head server? The task seemed shared ... if that was a correct serving variation of a Scotch egg or was it just not fried long enough? The response was a mildly opprobrious, "can't be bothered to educate you rubes" shrug and a "that's how Scottish eggs are supposed to be served." So every other Scottish egg that I and my gf have ever had previously has been wrong; got it. But then came the $32 charcuterie board. It looked like it fell off of a page of a 1970s Better Homes and Gardens Cooking Magazine. I mean, I'll pay $32 for a charcuterie board, full stop. But this looked like it belonged on a buffet table at a Wisconsin Lutheran potluck. And then the cheeses. One of them was supposed to be brie. The one supposed to be brie had the consistency of a hockey puck. I called said server over and plopped it into his palm and said, "The brie is a hockey puck." He didn't look surprised. Couldn't argue that it wasn't, in fact, in brie form. He apologized and went back to the kitchen. Surprise: they were out of brie. So they were going to serve us the heel of the cheese. I didn't know brie had heels. I won't even mention that the medium burger was medium rare. The drinks, though, the drinks were exceptional. Maybe focus on that. read more

I did feel the tables weren't spread out enough, the couple next to us can hear our whole conversation. A bit more privacy would have been nice. The gentlemen host was very friendly and quirky. His humor made our visit fun. I ordered the veggie frittata and my friend ordered the cali benedict. My dish didn't look too pretty but it was amazing! This is one of our go-to restaurants for Redmond since most of the other ones we have tried and are just okay. We really enjoy the food and service. The menu has a lot of great options and I think most people could find something they would enjoy. I am gluten-free and dairy-free and there are plenty of options for me (and I am a picky eater). The food is really good and I appreciate that it actually has flavor that makes you want to talk about it with the people with whom you are dining (and offer them bites, but not too big of bites since you want most of it to yourself :) ). We love the truffle fries and brussels sprouts especially - they really stand out. The service is always really good. They are always there when you need them and they check on you quite often. It is always pretty busy but doesn't take too long to get a table. Make a reservation if you can to avoid the wait. It does have a little bit of a bar vibe although it is nice and bright with all of the huge windows, but that is probably by design since they have a ton of different whiskey (50+ types maybe???). When the weather is nice, there is outdoor seating. It is off one of the main roads (Cleveland) in Redmond, so there is some road noise and cars going by.
