Walked in and wandered around looking for specific items for awhile. Came across at least seven employees and none of them even acknowledged that I was there. Finally walked towards the small engine equipment area and found one of the things I was looking for. Only then was I approached by an associate asking if I needed assistance because apparently I had wandered into an off limits area and was quickly escorted out of. Had someone said anything to me prior I might not have been there. Then I finally got my item and proceeded to the register where I was greeted by the cashier with their face buried in a cell phone. I've been coming to this store since it opened and it seems that every year it gets worse. If not for the convenience of being so close to me I would never go back. read more

After being told by tons of people Ace hardware sells houseplants, I went to FIVE different locations to be told by every single one that they don't sell plants. These places were so full of junk I could barley walk around! The employees were all rude and idiots! read more

I go out of my way to shop here instead of at huge stores like Lowe's or HD. 99% of the time these guys have what I need, they find it for me quicker, and I don't have to battle crowds or stand in lines. Having been a loyal customer to this business since it opened I was very upset with my interactions today. I have only recently signed up for the rewards program, which I discovered today is just a bs scam. The stipulations per coupon are rediculous. I had a coupon for $5 off a purchase of $25 or more and my total sale was $42, however when I presented the coupon it was not valid because one of my items was already discounted. Whether I had purchased this item regular price or not, the total sale still exceeded the necessary requirements for the coupon. The manager and cashier were less than understanding and basically just said no go f yourself. I will never patronize this franchise ever again. read more

William the guy working making duplicate keys has a horrible attitude! Defensive, negative, just an all around prick. I chose to just take my business elsewhere. Folks don't come here. If you are paying for a service the least they could do is be friendly. A Homeowner go to place! Whenever your in a tight spot they usually carry the item you need if they stock it you need it. Employees are friendly as most ACE locations . This location stocks Chick feed, Chicken and rabbit coops. Overall price is a little higher for some items but some items are sold loose ,for example screws bolts, washer so no need to purchase a dozen. Online prices are matched but not the Big box prices. read more

I took a couple of locks here to be rekeyed. I didn't know that it isn't normally possible to do this if the door mechanism (and dead lock in my case) are in the locked position. A guy named Dustin showed great skill and patience while he took considerable time to pick the locks for me. Afterwards he seemed just happy to have done a good job and helped me (the customer). There was no extra charge for the difficult task of lock picking. Where else can you get this kind of customer service? read more

Honestly, I want to say just the kindest most helpful staff I've been in contact with at a hardware store...rarely, do you find folks who go out of their way to help you and just NOT be obnoxious about it...Scott helped me and my friend with some tv mounting hardware and screws and gave us awesome direction and advice...when we left, my buddy left his drink on the counter and the SUPER NICE cashier AND older woman literally ran outside to make sure he didn't forget it there...TRUE, QUALITY, OVER THE TOP CUSTOMER SERVICE...couldn't be more impressed...I see exactly why people review this place this highly and come here...you've earned a long term customer in me for sure for anything I need for the house...thanks again Scott for your help!! read more

I needed an elusive and rare screw to put a bed back together that I purchased more than a decade ago. I could not find the screw at Home Depot or Lowes, but Richard at ACE worked magic with his hack saw and other grinders and mission was accomplished! This is a great connivence hardware store. The prices are NOT crazy- like you find sometimes with these smaller stores. There is a post office in the back of the store- which is nice. Went into the store to ship out three lg boxes (post office), but browsed afterward. Found several things that would have had trouble finding at a big box store. It's one of those stores that has great little items that make life easier. Fun store to shop. Again, the prices and just plain friendliness of the store really was enough to make me want to take the time to write a review. You always hear when someone hates a place- it takes A LOT more to care enough to write when you've had a fair experience. I've been going there since at least 2007. Prices are reasonable. Some items you can find cheaper elsewhere but it's a local store. It saves me a 10 mile drive to the big boys. Service is always friendly and staff is pretty knowledgable. And if they don't know they don't BS you an answer. They go find someone who does. All businesses have room to improve but this is a solid store. read more

Been shopping there for 19 years, foregoing the big chain stores for the small-town atmosphere but no more. Bought a weedeater there last week and it wouldn't start and I didn't like the feel of it. Attempted to return but didn't have a receipt. Cashier said they could give me store credit but since it had gas in it I couldn't return it. Well, the guy that sold it to my put the gas in it in order to demonstrate how to start it, which I already know as a 58 year old man. So essentially, they violated their own return policy by putting gas in it. Also, how am I supposed to determine if it works without gas? Back to Home Depot! read more

Seriously, get your stuff together. Why should I ever have to tell you how to ring up 6 bags of garden soil? Then to have my wife at the next checkout stand having the same issue with some potted plants. You just lost easily $60 in sales to lowes even though it is 30 minutes out of my way. My husband and I go to this location quite often in the because they always have a good selection of wood for our smokers. We went in last weekend during their barbecue demonstrations to pick up some Orange wood to use. I've bought it at this location before, but they were out of stock that day and a very nice lady (I wish I'd gotten her name) told me the company isn't producing it anymore, but then proceeded to check her phone for other places to buy it. As we stood there chatting with another very nice employee trying to decide which other fruit wood to use, the same lady came back and told us the Dale City store had three bags and asked if we wanted them to pull them and hold or ship them to the Dumfries location. We decided to go and get them. While I realize this didn't take a huge amount of effort" her part, it was still a great level of customer service. Sadly, that's something that is difficult to find in this area. We really appreciated it. We've always had good experiences at this store and will continue to patronize it. I'll make sure to take some of my smoked habanero powder to the gentleman with the walking stick this fall after I harvest my "crop". read more

This hardware store has gone down hill. My husband and I used to frequent this place often since it's convenient, the prices were comparable or lower than larger chain stores, and the service was great. I'm not sure if there was a change in ownership - that's what we're thinking - but we will not be going back due to extreme price hikes and lacking service. I purchased the same exact item at Home Depot a day prior to my purchase at Woodbine and it was a 3.98 vs 11.99 price comparison - I don't even know how that's possible. I called ahead and asked if they cut car keys for my model and year of car. I told them I had the blank. They said sure come in but we can't guarantee the cut. I said no problem. I went down there and they told me we don't cut this key. I explained I had just talked to someone and he told me that you do. The response was " Well, Peter is the only one that does and he is at lunch. " I said that's fine I'll wait. Several minutes went by and a guy stepped up and was questioning the employee I had been talking to then told me. "Sorry we don't cut this key." I explained everything just like I did to the first guy. He said, "We stopped cutting these keys because of lawyers and lawsuits." I told him he was full of it. Then he told the employee to "give him back his keys. I asked him his name and he said "Jerry". I said, "Do you have a last name?" "Jerry I'm the Manager." What's your last name? "I'm not giving it to you". I took my keys and walked out the door. read more

Each time I go in here, I leave disappointed. It is only about 2 1/2 miles from my house, so I like to go here when I need something quick. This place is not stocked like it should be and good luck finding any help. I went in to get a hole saw to create a hole for a dryer vent and of course they have everything but. A 1/4 inch hole saw is probably the most common type that they have, and if you're selling dryer kits, you'd want to make sure you have it. They lost out on my business in buying the kit because of this. I also went in to look for a bottom gate latch, and, yet again, they don't have it. The workers, if you find one, are clueless...like they are dumbfounded they don't have it. Really? You don't know your inventory? Home Depot is huge and each employee I speak with at least knows where I can find what I am looking for. Save yourself the trouble and drive the extra 10 minutes to Home Depot on Liberia Avenue to get what you need. Avoid this place. read more
