It's extremely sad to see what has happened to Prince William County as a whole, especially what's happened to Dale City - So many people living in the County and this area who don't care about the roots of it, nor who value community, neighbors, and family like those who actually built and grew this community - But it's great to see this place is still here!!! Pitkins is a staple of the community!! They have the parts needed for nearly any "fix" needed for a house built by Hylton, or any of the other builders in Woodbridge, Dale City, Lake Ridge, or Manassas. Their service is still very nice and the place resembles what it always has. They have specialty items, like Big Green Egg and it's a great place to come for them! She spent at least 20" trying to help me and also big thanks to Cedric who was so helpful showing my husband and me their rug cleaning rental machine. Also, big shout-out to Trey (?) over in the screen door area who, by showing us the wheels on the on-site screen doors, helped me get ours working at home so we didn't need to buy a new door. Lastly, Jared was great to talk with about the store products in general. In an era of big-box stores, it's so refreshing to get this kind of personal, expert assistance. He was gone for 30 minutes; then I noticed their labor sign for diagnosis and minimum charges. I started to get nervous because I was told earlier if it was a simple screw issue there would not be a charge. The service tech came back and said he re-inserted the screw but will probably work itself out again. He recommended a formal diagnostic. There was no charge for this visit. I figured this was the case since the line to the self check out registers was sxrynpeople deep. I did manage to get two small extension cords, some duct tape, and other small screws that I needed to install shelving. This store was definitely bustling for a Saturday morning. The Greeter person at the front of the store was kind enough to direct me to the restrooms, and he even gave me the restroom code to get in. The shopping experience was fairly normal except for the extended wait to check out. I also noticed that they did away with the paid registers where there would normally be a cashier.

It truly makes me wonder if they provide any training to their staff at all. To make the shopping experience even worse the local Harbor Freight sometimes plays rap music over the store speakers which I'm sure doesn't appeal to every one in the store. There have been multiple occasions when I've asked an employee where to find a product and they don't seem to know where things are in the store. This most recent visit I was looking for a magnified fluorescent light fixture that mounts to a tabletop. The person I asked pointed to a section and said that's where their all of their lighting is . I told him that's not where I found it last time and that I'd already looked there this time and it wasn't there. He ignored what I said and repeated that all of they're lighting Products are in that one section. I looked around the store some more and finally found the place where I had found it before- not in the lighting section. There was a tag for it on the Shelf but they were all sold out. At least I knew I wasn't crazy . And once again I knew that most of their employees are not interested in being helpful. Again I love Harbor Freights products and prices, but when you visit you're pretty much on your own.
