I've been coming to Pitkins since the mid-70's (as a kid with my dad) as I grew up a couple of "Dales" from here, in the B section. It's extremely sad to see what has happened to Prince William County as a whole, especially what's happened to Dale City - So many people living in the County and this area who don't care about the roots of it, nor who value community, neighbors, and family like those who actually built and grew this community - But it's great to see this place is still here!!! Pitkins is a staple of the community!! They have the parts needed for nearly any "fix" needed for a house built by Hylton, or any of the other builders in Woodbridge, Dale City, Lake Ridge, or Manassas. Their service is still very nice and the place resembles what it always has. They have specialty items, like Big Green Egg and it's a great place to come for them! I'll definitely continue to return! read more

I can't say enough about the great service at the Dale City Pitkins/Ace Hardware store. The manager on duty, Carol, went above and beyond trying to help me find fragrance-free rug cleaner/shampoo to use in their machine since I have asthma. She spent at least 20" trying to help me and also big thanks to Cedric who was so helpful showing my husband and me their rug cleaning rental machine. Also, big shout-out to Trey (?) over in the screen door area who, by showing us the wheels on the on-site screen doors, helped me get ours working at home so we didn't need to buy a new door. Lastly, Jared was great to talk with about the store products in general. In an era of big-box stores, it's so refreshing to get this kind of personal, expert assistance. We'll be back for all our future projects. read more

I was looking here on Yelp a place or locksmith to make me a copy of my car key fob instead of going to the dealer . I got some selections from Yelp . I contacted some of them , they were not cheap. I picked up one and made an appointment. He never showed up and I was not in a hurry to have someone do the job. That when I googled searching for a car key service I found Pitkins ACE Hardware I went there they have what I was looking for, they made, program it. They prices in unbeatable in this area. They are very professional and efficient. Thank you read more

Pitkins Earns a 5-Star Review! "5/5 stars! I rented the Bissell Big Green carpet cleaner from Pitkins Ace Hardware and on two important counts, it was a total game-changer for my dirty carpets! First, I knew on the very first pass that the carpet came alive with a High Quality reinvigorated appearance. The machine performed exceptionally well compared to the Rug Doctor I had previously rented from another source. The machine was powerful, easy to use especially accessing under my desk. It left my carpets looking and feeling like new. The rental process was super convenient and hassle-free. Tyler and Wolfgang represented Ace Hardware in an outstanding manner! They were friendly, helpful, ensured I had everything I needed to get the job done. Highly recommend renting the Bissell Big Green from Ace Hardware - it's worth every penny!" read more

I'm so impressed with the younger generation that has moved into employment at Ace Hardware. They're friendly, knowledgeable and they don't talk down to you. Yall are a great example of community here in Woodbridge. read more

Great service! I decided to be an adult and purchase some mulch for the first time in my life. Unfortunately, they only had super-fine mulch available for curbside pickup on the website and no one in the area was shipping mulch. Based on the "popular times" information on Google, it looked like foot traffic was the lowest on Tuesday mornings right after opening. So, I donned my mask and gloves and headed to ACE at 8:00! All the mulch was stacked outside, so I was able to look at the options. Each was clearly labeled with a number for the cashier. I went straight to the cashier and ordered four bags. (All employees were wearing masks and the store had clear instructions for social distancing.) The credit card system accepts touchless payments, so I was able to use my Apple Watch to pay without having to rummage around in my wallet. (It did take a few tries for it to scan properly, though.) They asked if I needed some help loading the bags of mulch in my car. I felt a bit bad saying yes, but I knew I would end up struggling and touching everything if I tried to do it myself. Shoutout to ACE employee Amy who grabbed the four giant bags of mulch and loaded them into my trunk for me! I definitely appreciated her help. read more

I purchased some patio chairs online and did pick up option got there and almost immediately was met with attitude. I wanted to pick my own chairs out of the stack of regular plastic chairs and was told by the lady claiming to be the manger that I will take whatever chairs I was given by her. she was rude and nasty to me because I wanted to simply pick my own chairs. I asked for the manager and her and the other lady said they are the managers. welp I will no longer spend my money with them! it's sad when a place you have frequented for years leaves a sour taste cause of two unhappy employees. read more

I don't write reviews very often but I was blown away how the great service I received from ACE today on the delivery of my BGE. Top notch group of folks. This is the way customer service should be. read more

Called to inquire about their garden stakes using the number they have on their site in an effort to patronize family owned business when I could easily go to the big guys...Boy! I was wrong. I asked about the price since I was intending to buy bulk and the sales person flatly told me she doesn't know because she's in a different dept. Brilliant! No effort to ask, no effort to get someone who could help. Goodbye and good luck with your business. read more

Pitkin's Ace is the place!!!! I came here on a mission to find some nails with the butterfly apparatus on them to wall hang a tv. They always seems to have the hardest to find, nuts, bolts and screws. The guys here are so helpful so even after looking at every tag and drawer, if you still come up empty handed, they can help you find what you are looking for. The prices are reasonable too so it will not cost you an arm and a leg to get what you need. read more

Great staff always helpful and provide excellent service on my Still products

This is the go to place when you are looking for the hard to find items. You get more service and attention to your needs. Not like the big hardware stores they do not have enough staff unless you go early in the morning. read more

Great store! It's been there for years and has a wonderful neighborhood feel! I will go here before i ever go to Lowe's or Home Depot. You can ask anyone for help and they will not only have the answer, but deliver it pleasantly with a genuine concern. You also won't have to walk the length of a football field to find what you want. Save yourself some stress and make this stop before you make the stop to the big frustrating stores read more

This hardware store is awesome. Every time I come here the staff is plentiful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Their pricing is a little bit higher than Lowes and Home Depot but in my mind I am helping to support a local business that is customer service oriented. If you have questions as a DIY'er than I recommend this place 100%. read more

Wow! I was looking for an LED solar outdoor umbrella at HD for $299. Went to ace hardware for something small and they had the same umbrella on sale for $99.99. The gentleman who worked there helped me take my purchase to my car and then the kind young man held my car door open for me. Super nice crew and honestly feels like our community hardware store. Bye bye HD! Hello Ace Hardware read more

We have lived in this area for a looong time. Through the years , we have come to majorly trust Pitkin's Hardware as our 'go to' place for big or little hardware problems. Everyone is so friendly and all their sales associates are well versed in problem solving for every topic we have ever sought help. Pitkin's Hardware embodies the best of family owned business, and we highly recommend them. read more

Nice hardware store with a little bit of everything. If the other two large stores don't have what you're looking for -- Ace is your place! Helpful staff. Has saved me a trip back to Home Depot more then once. read more

I always shop here before I go to the big chain hardware stores. It's nice to be able to shop at a local business owner's store instead of the corporate goliath. I have been relying on Pitkin's family store for the past 5 years for everything I need for carpentry tools, woodworking, garden supplies, birdseed, and stuff for the koi pond. The staff is always there to help me find something and load up my truck with the heavier items. read more

Called ahead to purchase a tool, and drove 45 minutes to the store. I told them that I would be there in 45 minutes to buy it. When I get to the store, the item was sold, and the old salesman thought it was funny. All he could do was laugh, no apology. I would not recommend this store. read more

I do prefer coming to this store for my hardware needs. I aim to focus more on small businesses and although the selection isn't the same as the big corporate hardware stores, I will first come here for the basics. If I must bite the bullet and go to Lowe's or Home Depot, I will. But a good 70% of the time, I do find what I'm looking for here first. This was the original hardware store 20+ years ago. :) read more

This store sells returns and open items as new. Had to contact the manufacturer for a replacement part because someone had returned the item damaged. Another item had no hardware and its supposed to be brand new. Buyers beware that the items you are purchasing may not be new and this store will not mark them as opened, returned, or damaged! read more

I always look HERE first before going to Lowes or Home Depot. At least I can usually find someone here to help me unlike Lowes or Home Depot. And they usually have what I need. If I can't find it at Pitkins then often I can't find it at the other stores. Much less hassle here parking, shopping, etc. My only gripe is just as I get used to the store layout some genius decides to rearrange the store. read more

Bad customer service. I will go to Lowes, HomeDepot, or drive out of my way to another ACE, for my home improvement needs. Returned two items today. The cashier did not want to do the transaction & even accused me of not purchasing the items at this location. Trust me, I don't have ACE stickers w barcodes laying around my house? (She typed around on her computer w 1 finger.) She called an associate which yelled, "we can't resell this, it's been opened"! I explained that we were told, if the wash hose doesn't fit, bring it back. The manager came down with a bad attitude saying the same thing and complaining how this is now going to come out of his pocket! I asked for the store # and district manager's email. The cashier said she doesn't have that info. Like I said... just keep driving. read more

I have been going to this store for many years now and have enjoyed not having to deal with the crowds of the larger chains. We (Steve's Auto Repair) were sponsoring Montclair Cub Scout Pack 1189 pinewood derby held at John F Pattie elementary school in Dumfries, VA when we found out we were missing some parts. Thank goodness Pitkins had the parts for our pinewood derby car. read more

I have shopped at Pitkins since it opened as Home Handyman decades ago. Have made good friends with many of those working there and its an enjoyable shopping trip compared to big box stores. There is always someone to help and they know their stuff. I look forward to going there to see what new unique things they have stocked. Such a variety which makes it fun. read more

This is a great little basic neighborhood hardware store. You're not going to get all of the big building supplies and furniture that you'll get at the other stores, but they have a nice little section for the garden. You can get pretty much anything you need for DIY projects, cleaning supplies, and even outdoor patio sets and garden decor. Try it out if you're in the area! It beats the parking nightmares and long lines at the other stores! read more

Thrilled we thought to search for a traditional hardware store. Pitkin's had everything we needed that the "big stores" didn't have. Most of all though was the customer service! Greg escorted us around the store helping us find everything we didn't know we needed. Life time customers as long as we live here!! Thanks Pitkin's Ace and Thanks Greg!! read more

After being a customer for 10 years, I have to say something happened today that really just finished this place for me. I brought an Alfa Romeo ignition key in and a fresh blank (purchased online, not at Ace) to be cut. The guy hemmed and hawed a little about "not really being able to do keys that weren't bought there" as though it was some kind of managerial mandate. Ok, I get that. I asked if they carried that key blank? "No." Me: "And you can't cut it for me since you can't even sell me the blank i need?" "No." Me: "Is there a manager I can be talk to?" "That's me." About then I saw the writing on the wall and from now on will drive an extra mile to Home Depot or Lowe's. So, arbitrary rule-making and great customer service as long as you don't depart from their view of the norm... they've seen the last of me. Call it small-minded but that attitude really rubbed me the wrong way when the guy who owns the decision screws the customer. Sign me a local ex-customer. read more

I am appalled at the behavior of one of the cashiers here. My mother was speaking to him, and he disregarded her existence. She tried to get his attention twice. He looked her in the eye and turned away. This all happened in front of another customer, even the other customer noticed this negligent and haughty behavior. We will never shop here again. read more

Waited 14 min at the key making section. I asked the lady at the front desk if there is someone to help, she said she will call. She just stood there talking g fo another employee about her weekend. No help, waste of time, zero service. read more

My husband and I ran into a DIY issue on Memorial Day so we ran to Ace for help. It was my first visit and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. No one was bitter that they were working on the holiday, all were smiling and cheerful. We even had an issue with our truck on the way out and they happily gave us a jump start. I went there for the convenience of it being closer to home but they've definitely earned as much of our business as they can accommodate. Thanks Ace! read more

Horrible customer service! When I purchased two different types of repellent, I asked the cashier, "if the stuff doesn't work, can I return them for a refund"? She replied, "yes, just bring in the receipt." As this stuff is designed to be spread over the yard, naturally it requires USING thw product as instructed. One container only did a 120 square feet. Naturally, as the secrion of my yard that I was using this one container on was almost exactly a hundred twenty feet I used the entire container. Well the stuff didnt work. Dogs were still rolling around and doing their business in my yard. I go back to Pitkins, and the manger, Mike, wasn't happy about giving me a refund. As he walked away from the cashier, he said, "just give her the refund for both items, she's just going to continue to have problems." I'm confident this comment wasn't based on anything except prejudice! I am not a confrontational person, when I encounter poor service, the pen is migjtiet than the sword and I make my displeasure known. The purchase of these items were my first at Pitkins...they will also be my last. read more

Was looking to buy a Stihl product which is probably one of the priciest items I'm the store, I knew what I wanted had done my research so I waited for someone to Get me the item from behind the counter which no one was around I walked over to the cashier and asked for assistance went back to wait another 5 minutes no one came. At this point I was annoyed I walked out drove to Lowe's and gave them my $425.00 for my new blower. Thanks for nothing read more

I purchase two of the same items on the clearance rack and did not notice that the cashier charged me full price for one of the. It was clearly a discount items. Both items were the easy stripper DP116306. This is not a normal Ace brand. This is not the first time they have done this to me. Most of the time, it not worth it to go back and waste an hour driving there and back and getting it fixed in the store. The first time I call the store, I was frustrated and the manger accused me of yelling and hung up on me. The second time I call I was told that it was caused by the customer moving items and not everything on the clearance rack is on sale, even if they are the same item. I tried to tell her it was clearly to see that both were clearance. She refused to listen and told me to listen to her and basically accused me of not know what I was talking about. This is a lie. At that time I did yell at her. We have shopped the Ace store there fairly regularly and many times have to correct the cashiers on the sale prices. It was incompetent people running the store and the registers that cause the problems. read more

The employees for the most part at this location are very rude and never where they're supposed to be to help customers. If you need help you usually have to go up front and ask them to send someone and it takes another fifteen minutes after that to someone to show up and help. It seems like everyone in this store has some kind of attitude problem and the one redhead lady, I think her name is Monique, always smells like alcohol. I've been to this store a few times and I've given up hope. This place is pretty terrible. read more

Pitkins has made a specialty of stocking items that H/D and Lowes doesnt carry. It does not always have the better price on items carried by in other places, but their price is competive regardless. I particularly like the employees they have there, the people are friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the products. read more
