The misdirection lead me to a few local take-outs, but I wanted a Dine-in meal, preferably a steak. Shut down the guidance, and just started off in search of something better. Then after a few miles, what do I see just up the road? "Miller and Carter" Steakhouse. Yes! Now, what cut and size do I choose, and what to have with it? After much deliberation, I opted for the 8oz Top Sirloin, medium rare. They brought me out a wedge salad, and before I had even made any progress on it, the food arrived. Well presented, and very tasty. My only criticism is there was a bit too much fat and gristle. I would have expected this from a rib-eye, but not a Sirloin. Next time, T-bone! I will probably return next time Business brings me back to the area.

The hostess and my server were both very friendly and kind, especially given my jetlag-fogged brain. I had to laugh at myself that we were all speaking English, but with the hostess' heavy Scottish accent and the server's Irish one, I actually had trouble understanding at first until I re-tuned my ears! Haha. I ordered the Japanese Katsu Curry Chicken bowl. The chicken and other ingredients were tossed in the wok along with noodles and the noodles had a pleasant almost "grilled" like taste. It was very tasty (not spicy at all) and a perfect-sized portion to satisfy my hunger before I crashed for the evening.

Arriving to Gatwick recently to take my flight back, the wife and i decided to grab breakfast somewhere in the airport before heading back to Los Angeles. I happened to see a few restaurants out of the corner of my eye just before security and glad we walked into Giraffe. It's hard to miss. Very colorful and bright. We were so hungry that they could have served stale bread and old pot roast and we would have probably chosen the restaurant. Fortunately, the menu was fairly expansive and included my fave breakfast food: pancakes. We were served our tea pretty quickly which we needed as we probably looked like a couple of zombies. I ordered the Strawberry pancakes. The wife took the recommendation of the server for the hash. Apparently not spicy according to the server. Apparently spicy according to the wife. Service was faster than two shakes of a lamb's tail. It gave us time to really relax after we ate before heading to security. For airport food, it was pretty good. Especially for breakfast!

Finally, before a 10+ hour flight to LA, I needed a big meal so Nando's was perfect. I like that they are very sensitive to allergies by asking if we have any as they seat you. Even though it was breakfast time, I really wanted to try what they are known for so I ordered a half chicken with medium spice and chose regular rice for my side. I also ordered a side of Halloumi (fried cheese) which I recently discovered while in London. I had a Galao (a hot drink from Portugal made by adding foamed milk to espresso coffee. Similar to caffè latte or café au lait) to finish it all off. I really enjoyed the chicken as it was very tender and fell right off the bone with little effort. I love that they have all their sauce varieties at a sauce bar so you can sample multiple flavors. The medium spice level was perfect for me with just a bit of heat. The rice was a nice complement to tame the spiciness and the Halloumi cheese was a great side. Overall, I really like Nando's and will keep an eye out for one in the Seattle area to try. Thanks!

My brother-in-law's St Paul's Green was also extremely sweet in my opinion. The patatas bravas was an over-all let-down, the portion size was small and the sauce left quite a bit to be desired. The olives were okay- pitted. The empanadas had a nice shell and the filling was good (recommend). As a main I ordered the lamb chops with a side of green beans. The lamb was very good- cooked medium- I felt it could use a bit more flavor but the lamb was still enjoyable. The green beans were cooked well and not soggy (yum). My husband ordered the 260g 'Ancho' (Rib-Eye) Steak- I snuck a bite and it was very, Very, good. The chimichurri sauce that his steak came with was made with dried herbs and spices however it was very flavorful. Overall the drinks were on the sweet side, service was a bit slow (Although I do understand we were a party of seven) and the food was decent.

Baked beans sound so weird to me to have for breakfast! But it was delightful. Very berry smoothie to go (had to catch our flight, so I took this to go!) My smoothie was delicious! Since it was made with raspberries, it has little seeds in it. Which I didn't care for, but it's unavoidable with the raspberries.

The refurbishment and extension of the passenger lounge at Gatwick's South terminal has made room…read morefor some new eateries, including a Pret a Manger. This is a huge step forward in terms of the availability of decent coffee and - even more so - decent , fresh and interesting sandwiches. Service is swift and nicely done, although there did seem to be a bit of a queue for those waiting for coffee. There's lots of seating, it's all on the level, and the toilets are around the corner (down a long corridor, however). Prices are the same as in most High Street branches, which actually makes them rather competitive in an airport. It's an excellent place to load up with your in-flight food before getting on a budget airline flight, but you can also eat in, as well. (The two-tier pricing system for eat-in/take away also applies here, with eat-in food costing more).
