I had a very early flight from Gatwick recently, so I decided to take some work and get something done while I am at the airport. I had spent the night at Caffè Nero in the departure area before security. Luckily that was open 24/7. Surprisingly though, there was no wi-fi. Don't all Caffè Nero have wi-fi now?
When I finally made it through security, I had a quick browse through the shops and went to Apostrophe in the departure lounge. I had never been to one but they certainly had the nicest looking sandwiches by far so I gave it a shot. I took a ciabatta with ham, mustard, cheese and dried tomato. I also ordered a hot chocolate.
The toasted ciabatta was brought to me quite quick and I was happy to get a delicious breakfast. The hot chocolate was amazing. I don't actually know how to describe it but it was basically pure chocolate. Perfect!
What I liked particularly about Apostrophe was the fact that they have jams on the tables, ketchup, mustard, pepper ... and lemon water for everyone to take. It was also fresh and delicious. This little extra allows me give Apostrophe five stars. Hardly any high street brand has such good food, drink and also some free extra treats around. read more
