This shop has won my loyalty for a couple reasons, I'll start off with saying the energy of the shop is great. Good music is always playing, I always have a great conversation with the barbers, and the atmosphere isn't too serious - it is a welcoming place. I have been to barbershops where everyone seems to cool for school where you're not comfortable. This is not that shop, excited to bring my boy for his first haircut here! Never been here before, came in with a couple inspiration pictures and a thick head of long hair. They fixed me up well and were very specific about what they were doing and how I wanted it. I'm always very anxious getting my hair cut-- I'm very particular but not very good at communicating it. Anthony showed me each step of the process before he took too much off, making sure everything was okay. At the end, he asked about the top of my hair, and I was so glad he did rather than just doing what we talked about earlier, because I thought it was perfect as is. Been coming to wolfs head for almost 8 years now. Out of many barbershops in the area I find peace at wise guys. Anthony is an amazing barber who has been cutting my hair for about a decade now and never misses ! The other guys in the shop are just as good ! You get a good haircut. You don't deal with long wait times, obnoxious shop talk, blaring TVs with sports. You don't deal with guys putting everything down to talk gossip. This pandemic has made any and all self-care activities difficult. I was beginning to look like a hobosexual with my overgrown beard and hair. A haircut was well overdue and I wanted to be high maintenance by avoiding a predetermined appointment. I called up Wolf's Head and confirmed that they were open and providing their services. Thankfully the County had recently changed regulations and they had relocated back within the doors of their shop. I was told over the phone to swing by since they had a lull in customers. Sure enough, the minute I stepped in they escorted me to a chair--while others began strolling in unexpectedly. Barber Tony Alvarado was the lucky one who ended up having to take care of me. I always feel bad because I'm particular about how my hair is done. Nonetheless, he listened to all my requests on a circular neck, short sides, long top, length preferences, etc. I could tell he excels at shades and anything done with a clipper because my edges were pure perfection. The interior of the barbershop is very rustic modern. You'll find old school barber chairs (already socially distanced), awesome wooden wine box tables/cabinets, and even a taxidermy wolf head hanging on the wall--hence the name. They sell several clothing items with their logo on it. All of the guys here seem standoffish but are quite friendly; no matter how many tattoos or piercings they have. I have been here twice for a cut and will continue to "drop in" when my cowlicks grow out of control. A few heads ups: - Cash is ideal since they don't take credit cards (though an ATM is inside). - Appointments via phone are preferred. - There's no TV so you actually have to interact with your barber and hold a conversation. Let me start off by saying that the place itself is really nice - super clean, well designed, etc. . This was my first time going and I chose to schedule my appointment with Anthony based on the all the reviews I read on Yelp. During the actual haircut, everything was fine. We had basic back and forth conversation and he worked with me on what I wanted. The haircut I got was nothing special, super basic/boring which is what I wanted. If that was all, #1 - I wouldn't have even left a Yelp review because that's not the person I am, and #2, If I did leave one, the haircut was average at best so I probably would have left 3.5 - 4.0 stars.... At the end of the cut after he had "faded" the back of my head and rounded the corners, he just said I was all good and didn't show me what it looked like which I thought was a little weird but I didn't question it as we had talked pretty in-depth about what I wanted to do so I trusted his work. However, it wasn't until I got home and looked in the mirror that I understood why he didn't bother to show me... the dude left three giant patches on the back of my head and couldn't be bothered to make the rounded edges symmetrical. On top of this, he graciously accepted the 25% ($10) tip and let me walk out KNOWING he did sub-par work. I'm relatively calm about situations like this. Had he admitted his fault I would have just suggested to buzz my head and let it be - no big deal. But instead, he acted as though everything was perfectly fine, accepted a BIG tip, and let one of his clients - which reflects HIS work - walk out looking absolutely ridiculous. It's not even like I can cover my head with a beanie or hat for the next 2-3 weeks because of where it is. I don't know if he let it happen because he saw that I had tipped $1 online and did it out of spite - the website makes you leave a tip and I'd rather tip in person AFTER the work is done (the whole point of a tip) - or just doesn't care, probably both! It's actually crazy that you'd let someone walk out of your shop looking like this but I'm sure you could care less as it was your carelessness that created the situation in the first place. I've been coming to Wolf's head for a bit over a year. The barbers are cool and they all do a great job. My go-to guy is Anthony. Making an appointment online seems easy enough but I tend to use their website to check availability before I call for an appointment. They also do walk-ins and I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a haircut without an appointment. FYI, they are cash only. There's an ATM inside but if you want to avoid the surcharge come with $30 + a generous tip. (Best to tip higher during the pandemic!) read more

I've been to these guys, Tony in particular 3-4 times. He regularly runs late, but today he was 30 minutes behind when I arrived for my appointment on time. I left after waiting an additional 20 mins because he wasn't even close. Here's the thing. He is just OK at mens haircuts..certainly not the worst I've had, but not the best either. I finally left not because of the wait but because they don't sweep up the hair between clients which is kind of a deal breaker for me. Gross! The vibe is "I'm out on work-release or I got out early because of Covid." Their clientele are mostly young males, face and neck tattooed, mostly getting fade cuts ...so if that's your cup of tea and you don't mind sitting in somebody else's hair, and you don't mind waiting with your homeys....this place is DEFINITELY for you! read more

I needed a haircut for Thanksgiving since I will be around a lot of family. I was near a sports cut so I figured I would just get a quick haircut. Wrong. After 30 min I got bumped twice and then one lady went to lunch so it would have been a 2 hour wait with no appointments before me. In comes Wolf's Head. I called and they confirmed they had seats open. I drove there and I am so glad I did. Samuel Ledesma did an amazing job on my hair. I normally have to show pictures to stylists for them to know what I want. I told him and he knew right away. If you need something to talk about bring up fishing because Samuel is a big fisherman. This was probably the most professional haircut I have ever received. It was $30 plus tip which is a little more than other shops but you get what you pay for. Went for a haircut with my buddy and we had appointments scheduled. Buddy ended up waiting an half an hour and I was waiting an hour or so . I asked to be cut by another gentleman but was told no because I had an appointment. I thought it was mess so I just ended up leaving and still got charged without receiving a haircut. This place is garbage, they triple booked my appointment time and had me waiting for some guy when i showed up on time and had another dude behind me with an appointment waiting. The best part is when I go to finally get my hair cut I ask if they do card because their downtown location doesn't but there website literally says add 2.5% for credit card transactions.
