Looked like a western shop from the outside. Decided to enter cuz I always shop for my grandkiddies when we travel. My going to 3 rd grade in August grandson is the most fun yet hardest to shop for. Never having a son I end up getting him quirky unique gifts. He usually gets a kick out of them. At this particular shop as soon as you enter on your left there is a display of cow pies. Also known as large circular disks of cow dung. I remember when I was a child we stayed at beach house but had to walk through a pasture to get there. I was so grossed out when my parents said watch out for the cow pies in our path. I picked it up with a bit of caution and with a sigh of relief found out that the item in the store was a frisbee. Great place to pick up your western wear and horse tac. All the staff are friendly and helpful

Very rude and they sell children's things for children like wooden fun's and plastic horses but will not let children touch them.

The hat I purchased was labeled Grand Canyon Mesh, which is the style that Stetson sells. When I got the hat, it was no Stetson. It was some cheap knock off brand called Scala. Immediately when you put the hat on you can tell not even close to a Stetson. The brim was sewn on sideways, so when you put the hat on, it looks like you are wearing it crooked. I called for returns, no answer. I tried the email for returns, not working. I tried another number, no answer. I tried the number on yelp, someone picked up but said I have to call back tomorrow, because that is when Julia is in and she handles that. I ran my termite company for 38 years, this is definitely cheap product and piss poor service. The $65.00 hat I bought is going in the trash and in return you get this horrible review. read more

Don't waist your time visiting this shop. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. My family and I entered the store to buy boots and as I asked for a trash to throw away e empty cup I was told to exit the store and walk down an alley to the dumpster. Then we attempted to look at boots but the employee's were too busy talking to help us... we were the only ones in the store and they couldn't be bothered to help us at all. We come into this store whenever we're in town! A great array of merchandise for the equestrian or the wannabe western styled! I have bought shoe polish, bandannas, cowboy shirts and hats over the years. It's a treasure trove so much to see, and the people are so nice and helpful. I've earned the reputation as a first-class employee and I'm an expert at engaging customers and ensuring them top-notch shopping experiences. It wasn't my first choice to post this very negative Yelp review. Initially, I'd planned to file a report with the Better Business Bureau regarding Jedlicka's Santa Barbara store. After a bit of research, I discovered the BBB will not document grievances between employees and employers. That makes sense. After all, I'd only been a Jedlicka's employee for six days. Initially, I'd been super-excited to be hired by a small local business. I was eager to learn a new skillset. I'd hoped to remain for the long term. But today, at the end of my shift, I quit my job without giving the customary two-week notice. My rash decision was not because Josiah Jenkins is an unkind employer - he's a decent man - but because, as a whole, my Jedlicka's co-workers proved to be the most unwelcoming, demeaning, and spiteful group of individuals I've ever encountered. My takeaway? Cowboys may be romanticized as American heroes, but Jedlicka's cowboys - and cowgirls - are toxic as a pit of vipers. They sent me the wrong hat and then wanted me to pay the return postage, which was more than the refund would have been.

Very nice products but I honestly felt very uncomfortable with the woman working. She kept staring as we looked around the shop. We ended up purchasing a few things which she asked us to leave on the cashier stand as we looked at more items in the store. Do your self a favor and DO NOT SHOP HERE! Go to amazon or anywhere else. They have horrible customer service and do not stand behind their products. I bought a pair of boots for my seven year old, not cheap! They said "leather uppers". He wore them for a couple of hours and the inside above the heel began to crumble; literally crumble. They were actually a cheap plastic. I sent an email to their customer service email after calling and getting nobody. We were trying to leave town. So, we delayed our leaving and came the next morning with the obviously defective boots. The woman who had just seen me and my wife and kids two day previous acted like she had never seen me. I explained that I had spoken with her and a woman with a European accent had helped me. She acted like I was lying before admitting that one employee had a French accent but said that I was wrong because the employee was from Quebec???Really???? I said I would like a refund to the card that I purchased the boots with and she refused??? She said she had to get approval from the owner. I said "don't you think it's a little old fashioned to refuse a refund when it's obvious that the boots are defective?" She said she had to have the boss call me but that he was real busy. I said I had email him already and received no response l. She said "he's been in meetings." I spent hundreds of dollars that day and they won't refund $70 boots that were defective???? So, this place DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER!!! Don't shop here. Save yourself the trouble. I left the boots there and left for home 950 miles away. Will I ever get a refund??? The owner has not returned my calls, emails and noted from his own employees. If I don't receive my money I will file a report with the BBB. read more

I came here with the absolute intention of purchasing a hat. But I ended up walking out. The "sales person" had the personality of a doorknob! I had mentioned to my husband that I would love a 'vaquero hat' and that I didn't want something inexpensive-- so I thought that coming here would be the right choice. Negative! The woman followed us around as if we were going to steal something-- she literally had a stink face the entire time. I asked her if I could change the band around the brim of the hat that I had tried on; she pointed and said: Yes. "Okay, let me figure out where she is pointing to." When I made my way to the bands she followed me but never asked if she could help or what it was I was looking for. When you're in sales...personality and knowledge is EVERYTHING! She should be in the back stocking-- sorry, I've written two Yelp reviews in my life -- I always make excuses. Maybe they were having a bad day, maybe they weren't feeling well, maybe it was me...nope, if you like you're job do it well. If you don't like it, still do it well. There is always someone that can replace you. I put the the hat back and walked out. My husband said: "geezus I was wondering when you were going to walk out." We could have spent some money here. I walked in a few days ago. There were two women employees, one at the register, one standing next to her, I was the only customer in the store. They were talking non-work stuff. I was looking for a new hat, so I stood there looking around. One of the women looked at me, didn't say anything or even nod, just went back talking. I saw the hats hanging up to the left so walked over to them, went up and down the isle a few times looking. Both employees just kept on gossiping (I could hear them). I waited about another minute for some assistance, nothing. So I walked out. As I walked out the door, one of the women looked at me, but then just kept on chatting away. Sharing their experiences outside of work must have been much more important then myself, their customer. Of course I'm betting, they don't own the store. I would have given ONE STAR, but there was a nice assortment of hats and other items so for the store itself, I gave an extra star. I can wait a while to buy somewhere else. read more

I was given a gift (October) of two blouses and took them back (December) Since the person paid in cash I was given a store credit of around $200.00. The sales woman gave me a business card size note for the store credit which I said I was worried that I'd lose the card, she said no worries we keep it in file. I went shopping yesterday and they said no record of my store credit was found! They said I should have been given a receipt (large piece of paper) but I hadn't. So now I'm out $200! The customer service today was so BEYOND BAD, I don't even know where to start. After reading many reviews on here, I see I am not the only one. Why doesn't the owner fix this? I forgot my reading glasses, and couldnt see any of the sizes on the jeans. There were two gorls working, and neother one offered to help me. When I told one of them I couldn't see, she just kept working on her hat arrangement like I wasn't there. After being so frusterated, I told them BOTH that I thought they had terrible salesmanship, and that they should have done a better job in helping a customer that was ready to spend a lot of money. The one girl just kept fixing her hats like I was'nt even there. The other just stood there and watched me struggle with trying to see the sizes. I said, "Of course don't even apologize, just keep working on those hats. That's way more important than me." and she said, "Well I have a cold, and I don't want to be here, and I'm trying really hard to not cough all over the store, so if I help you, I'll end up coughing all over you and then, I would be really sick. What a first class jerk! EVERY time I've gone into this store there has been attitude, but this time takes the cake! NEVER AGAIN will I set foot in this creepy place. and by the way... The customer service (especially at the SB store) is severely lacking which is the main reason for my lower star rating. I called the SB store looking for an item and was not given the time of day, told they do not have it, and hung up on. I called the Los Olivos store to see if they may have said item. I spoke with Kylie who was BEYOND helpful, sent me photos of what was available at the store, and even called the SB store to see if they had the item..which it turns out they did. Thanks to Kylie's excellent customer service I was able to find what I was looking for. She was great and I think the rest of the staff would benefit substantially to follow her lead when it comes to customer service. She is truly an asset. I had previously only been to the Jedlicka's in Santa Barbara and when I saw this one in tiny Los Olivos I was excited! They have a good selection of jeans - Cruel Girl, Aura, Q-Baby, Cash. I got a beautiful, new red Big D halter for my QH and FINALLY found cactus cloth! The sales lady explained it's imported from England and maybe that's why I've been having an impossible time finding it at other tack stores. Wow! Looks like everyone has poor customer service at this particular store! I was in there a few days ago. Visiting from out of town, and told my friend that she has to see this store! We walked in and noticed that there are a lot of signs on certain merchandise that says "keep off" or "please do not touch", which is fine, this is to protect the merchandise and we're not opposed to that. When we got to the back of the store though, they had a few saddles on stands, and my niece (who is becoming an excellent rider with lessons) gets on this one saddle that she likes. At this time, the younger sales girl comes back and tells us that we're not allowed to sit on that saddle (although there was no sign to indicate this), but she points to another and says "this one is okay to sit on". So my niece gets on the "approved" saddle and everything is fine. Then, my friends son, tries to get on the saddle and an older sales woman comes and starts yelling at him (VERY RUDELY) to get off that saddle (the very one that the other girl said was okay to sit on, mind you). She tells my friend's son, to get off, and he smiled at her (I know he thought she was just joking because he's never had anyone speak to him in such a rude manner) and she says, "I'm not joking! It's not funny!" Then she said, " Just go! Just leave!" I looked at her and said, "did you just tell us to go, and just leave?" She barked at me, "Yes, just leave! Just go!" So, guess what? We did!! Will NEVER, EVER return to that store again, and you can bet that my niece won't be purchasing from these stores...EVER!!! How on earth can these people get away with talking to customers in this manner? With this type of customer service I'm surprised anyone would want to venture in there!! read more
