Unacceptable! We purchased two solid 55 gallons round trash cans to collect access leaves every Autumn. It is worth over $150! Yesterday, on Thanksgiving holiday, Truck driver decided to do something nice and DUMPED BOTH of them into the truck! The customer service was awful. Excuses and careless attitude. Complaints not get filed. Offered $25 dollars when $150 of our hard working money were destroyed. With the attitude and policy Waste Management has, that anything we have around WM trash cans is AT OUR OWN RISK, I see why their employees are not getting trained to respect and value customer's property, or at least use COMMON SENSE! Obviously, they don't care about customer's opinions either. Having very low rating on many review sites, WM does not making any efforts to improve. Why don't we have options to choose the company that serves our community? We are doing our part - paying our VERY HIGH bills on time and in full. But Waste Management doesn't value their CUSTOMERS. read more

Now that we've decided to scale our trees back big time, we needed to unload the debris large scale. We called waste mgmt and found out we can get four free trips to the dump annually. It's located near downtown, wait in line, unload your crap in a covered building. Be on your way. Easy enough if you need the resources. read more

This is an experience I wanted to share, trying to properly dispose my personal sharps container. I had called Waste Management to ask or confirm about their sharps disposal drop off and I was left with confusion and frustration. When I had first called to ask for assistance, I was met with aggression because I was calling from a California area code. The employee (Fabian), was more concerned where I was calling from versus trying to help me dispose my sharps properly. After that phone call, my spouse and I looked on Waste Management website to confirm sharp container drop off here in Reno. My spouse went on a wild goose chase, trying to find a safe location to dispose a sharps container at Waste Management local site. My husband was unsuccessful finding a drop off and/or finding anyone to assist us there. Waste Management, and the person who improperly handled the phone calls, please understand you're dealing with people who are the chronically ill, disabled, elderly and are military veterans when trying to dispose our sharps containers safely and properly. Waste Management was completely unhelpful and careless with me and my husband. It took 2 phone calls, one in person attempt to drop off and a lack of details on their website regarding medical waste disposal. It's no wonder people improperly dispose their sharps containers due to the frustration and confusing information that is not provided, or information this is withheld, and NOT clear on the website, or unhelpful customer service. In the end, I was able to properly dispose my sharps container at Washoe County Health District, where they treated me with kindness and care. Waste Management, please do better regarding help with proper customer support with kindness and please provide more detailed information with sharps container disposal for the chronically ill and disabled people. read more

Late Dec, '24, received a check for what was my overpmt on my account. Just a check, nothing at all about the status of my account was sent to me. Since I'm billed quarterly, Feb, should be billed. I checked online to see 0$ owing. Made no sense, so I called. 2/18, 1st rep hangs on me after I told him my story. He didn't try to call me back. He did mention he saw from his POV, "Account closed." Nowhere on my side is there any sign of my account bring closed. I never called, live by myself. He couldn't give me a reason. Now he's hung up on me. Next rep, Alisa, told me same thing, that she would get my account up but it would take a couple of hours & she would call me back so I could get "autopay" working. She never called me back and my account is still the same, autopsy, inactive which means she didn't help me. I can't find a billing office to get into to get help. This is TOTAL INCOMPETENCY. Little bit of a difference, now I see why a lot of this stuff ends up in the desert. Greedy waste management. WM buys their competitors and then uses their monopoly power to increase rates unreasonably. Now they have started charging a "convenience fee" for paying by credit card, which is just another rate increase. Service is generally decent (at least recently), but customer service is terrible. Requested call backs never happen. read more

I'd like to give one more star but the female checking is in at the landfill did not even say one word. I greeted her "hi" and she said nothing. Our first time using one of our free dump day and no instructions or anything. Yeah sure it's a dump, transfer station, junky environment but that doesn't mean you have to act that way.... I called and was told that all we would have to do is bring our bill with our residential account number and we are eligible for 4 free dumps per year. It sounded easy (and it should be). Not even close. Upon arrival the man said it was more than $40.00 for about 200 sq. ft. of carpet and pad. Which is not even enough to come up to the bed rails of a 5 foot bed. He said we were wrong about the dump fees and would have to pay or get out of the line. He said we could call billing and see if they would do anything. We called the same number that gave us the no hassle directions to our 4 free dumps per year, we gave them the receipt number from the dump, they said we would have to call back in 3 or 4 months to see if a credit could be issued. That is ludicrous!!! This company is in the top half of the Fortune 500 largest companies and is forced on us by our city officials pay offs (oops I mean contracts) and this is the best they can do to coordinate two departments? -OR- Lay it off on the customer to make several follow up calls to beg for a credit that is supposed to be an included service is the right course of "customer service"? read more

They are the worst! We have on camera the trash guy ripping half the blue sticker off a box and leaving it last week. I called and complained and this week he didn't take the green trash can at all (he did take the box that he left last week). He left a note on our bin that says it was too close to our vehicle. It wasn't. Absolutely ridiculous. The girl I talked to today was so rude. They are being really petty. They also sent us a letter a few months ago that we were contaminating the recycling. Come to find out their GPS is off and it was our neighbors. If they didn't have the monopoly here I would tell him where to stick it. read more

It doesn't surprise me that people dump in the desert. Not very busy at the transfer station... Only waited about five minutes to check in ...used a free dump which is great! Waited at least a half hour for the two bays for the dump trailers, one bay had a loader in it just sitting there with the guy on his phone another guy unloading his trailer by hand, waste management employees standing around, maybe somebody could help the guy unload his truck or get the loader out of the way?? Worst company ever. They pick up neighbor's trash and skip ours for literally no reason besides they miss it or whatever. Usually their excuse is that "the containers weren't out" which is a bold faced lie because we out them out the night before. Once again I'm writing in response to the total lack of customer service and laziness of this company. Drivers will come up with any excuse to not pick up your garbage. Lid opened more than 3 inches, not far enough away from a vehicle - 6 feet was how far away it was, contaminates in your trash - foam from a couch. I am likely wasting my time posting this review because waste management is the only trash company I have to use, so I don't believe they care about their customer service. Last trash pickup date, both my garbage and recycling bins were not fully emptied. After talking to three different people, I was told the trash must have been compacted in my bins too much. I advised that I could move the trash remaining with my hands, and it wasn't compacting the container. They refused to send out somebody to empty the rest of the bins. This is the only business on Earth that you pay for a service, they don't complete the service and they don't do anything about it nor provide any money back from what you paid them to complete the service read more

Their dumpster rate was less than I expected and lower than some local independents. Delivery guys were friendly and helpful and the girl that helped me order it was a bug help in helping me pick the right option. read more

If I could give them less than one star I would. I'm not sure how a company like this can even exist! This is what I wrote to them... I set up this account a month and a half ago, and have not received a single pick up for recycling, NONE! I have called at least a half a dozen times to request a recycling pick up, and still not a single pick up! The trash driver has talked to the recycle driver and still not one pick up. After all these attempts to get my recycling picked up I am getting billed for a service that I am not receiving. What terrible service!!!! Please cancel my recycling and credit my account. This company and it's employees are the worst. If it were not for the fact that they hold a monopoly in Reno and some politician in their back pocket, they would have been driven out long ago. I have called 5 times now, gone into the office once. Each time I have been assured they will ge someone out to pick up the garbage and recycling that day. It has yet to be picked up. And the arrogance of the driver to actually leave me a note saying I was only paying for one. Then pick up just one. but this guy left everything. And don't expect a return phone call. Have been battling with WM for about three months now trying to get them to consistently pick up garbage from a building. It is never clear if they will be there to pick the trash up. Recently had a phone call with them and they began uploading video (at my request) to my app and web portal. The driver said they couldn't access the property because cars were parked in the way. The video shows a clear path and that the driver never even entered the parking lot where the building it. Two videos like this and the technician I was speaking with said they could see why the driver never went down but there was a 20ft path all the way to my building. There is no other garbage company in the area to contract for waste removal so who do we talk to? Lodge a complaint with the city for WM's failure to uphold the city agreement with the franchise? I tried setting up a site survey with the route manager and they never called back! read more

I have tried to take my trash to the dump 3 different times and each time they are closed for another reason. They have one job and it is to take trash, they can't even do this correctly or without hassle. I swear whoever is managing waste management has to be mentally handicapped. There is no other possibility. Plus whoever is in charge of picking up trash from homes needs to check your lazy workers. There used to be a time where people had to ride the back of the truck to toss the trash. Now they have a machine do all of the work and the workers get upset if they have to get off there seat just to adjust the can so they can pick it up with the truck. Hours of operation weren't accurate on the website or on maps. I arrived a few minutes after they closed (this was just after 4 pm) to dump some stuff I really needed to get rid of and they were rude about it and told me to take it to Lockwood. Looked up the Lockwood hours luckily (which probably aren't accurate either) but they were closed. I was in a U-Haul so I would have payed for miles going out there. So they were rude and would have really done me dirty if I had gone out there without looking first. Oh and good luck trying to get a hold of these people through a phone call for any inquiries. Just the worst business ever as far as I've ever seen. This is what you get with a company that has a monopoly on a service. I'd give them zero stars if I could. read more

I enjoy taking my clippings, and other items that I have to get rid of there. Have been there many times, and if you use Waste Mgmt for your trash pickup and show your most recent WM invoice stub, you get 3 free dumps per year, great deal! Usually the lines are not long to get in especially on week days, back your truck in and empty the bed of your truck or tailor, does not take long at all. A little tricky to find but once you have been there, it's a piece of cake. Highly recommend, close, easy to use, and free with a copy of your WM invoice stub. read more

This transfer station facility is a model of inefficiency and mismanagement. I've been a Reno resident my entire life and have come here dozens of times thru the years. As our city population has grown enormously in that time this facility has remained virtually unchanged. Trying to dump here on the weekend is an exercise in pure frustration as wait times average 45 minutes to 1.5 hours! It's common to see drivers of trucks, laden with garbage, drive off when confronted with the enormous line. Where do they go with that trash? Back home hopefully to try another day but my fear is that some head to the desert. Waste Management seems oblivious to the problem as a few simple changes would dramatically improve efficiency. 1. Point of sale- the process to pay is remarkably slow. Their credit card system must be on a dial up connection or something and this creates a nasty bottle neck. Once one has paid and drives inside there are often 3-4 empty stalls. There's no excuse for this! I can buy a frappucino with my credit card in less than 10 seconds. I'm sure a Fortune 500 company can afford the same technology that will process a credit card faster than a man (or woman) can empty a pick up bed. 2. Open up more stalls- they don't even have to expand the facility to make this happen. Clear the areas that are currently blocked by recyclable materials or open the areas normally reserved for their trash trucks on the weekends. The WM trash trucks don't operate on weekends normally so why not??? Come on Waste Management...You can do better!!! read more

Hoping this is the right location! Very frustrated with WM right now. I work at tattoo shop and we use WM to dispose of our used sharps. Each time I need to schedule a pick-up, its literally impossible to get a hold of anyone. I get transferred from one number to another. Just now I somehow got transferred to the Alameda county WM office, who don't even provide sharps-pickups-not to mention it being in the wrong state. Our rep (his name is Sal) is never helpful and always on the verge of grumpy. He always tells me to schedule pick-ups with the "main office", which then transfers me to 4 others offices, but eventually always back to him. I don't mind calling an 800 number if it leads me to the right place, but it never seems to with Reno WM. Organization and communication are definitely lacking here. read more

Two stars because usually they show up. HOWEVER, when they skip our recycling container on the street for a MONTH, we receive HOA violations waiting for them to return as promised. We're advised to pack our recyclables on the car and drive it to town ourselves?! What are we paying for again? This is completely unacceptable and disgusting customer service. Dispatch responds every time that there was no container on the street. So I guess I'll live stream my trash can on a curb every other Tuesday now? Get it together. read more
