It was my first time going to an escape room, I loved it. It was a paranormal, creepy theme. My friends and I were scared the whole time and held on to each other. Our host was great at the explanation the process, and answering questions. I loved it! I would definitely come back or do another escape room in general. We had a very fun time exploring the paranormal Curiosity Shop. We barely finished in time! The storyline was richly detailed, which tons of items in the "shop" to fiddle with while using the "tools" provided. Interestingly creepy and a very active set, without being overly scary or too much flashing for our epileptic participant. i've done around 5 escape rooms and i'll say this one was one of my favorites. its different and very unique from a typical escape room but in the best way possible. you're not actually trying to escape, it's has more riddles and very atheistic elements that are involved. you use tools that are very helpful and make it so much fun. don't let the surrounding area scare you, it's a bit more sketchy (drunk, homeless) but other than that, i would definitely suggest checking out the curiosity room. read more

This was my second escape room experience and I enjoyed it tremendously! From the moment you stand outside waiting to go into the escape room the experience has already begun! Niko was great prepping us and answering any questions we had before and after. It is definitely creepy, as it is a paranormal theme, and there were many startling moments and scary moments - but that is what made it so fun! This was a paranormal themed escape room and it was awesome! I loved that it was spooky and had some scares! No live actors or anything but I tend to go for the more creepy/scary escape rooms as they are personally more fun for me. I called and booked a 10:30pm appt for a party of three on a Thursday night and the gentleman over the phone was friendly enough to give us a discount of $5 off each ticket. We paid $75 total and it was soooo worth it. They take payment over the phone or online only and once you get there, there's a video that goes over what you'll be doing and which tools you'll need etc. Once that video ends, the timer for one hour starts. It was just the three of us as no other people had booked so it was definitely a bit difficult! This escape room isn't like a regular scavenger hunt but you're supposed to go in order so you're following the storyline. I won't ruin the escape room by giving away any details or hints but sadly, we didn't solve it! We were so close and the staff member Ayden (sorry if misspelled) was more than informative and very friendly! He explained how close we were and how we did a good job for being a small party of 3. He gave each of us a button to take home and we took fun pics of how we went MIA ;) He mentioned that they'll be expanding in Riverside and will be adding more rooms so I'd definitely get out there and give it a go! Also right now it is just one room but I highly recommend you guys check this out. I had only been to two escape rooms prior to this and I'd say it was definitely a bit difficult. I was pleasantly surprised! I've done over thirty rooms, mostly in the Los Angeles area, but also some in Las Vegas and some in Poland. This was my first time doing an escape room in my own hometown, and it exceeded my initial expectations. My friend and I were lucky enough to do the room by ourselves, and the two of us finished with over ten minutes remaining. Although my friend and I did it by ourselves, I think this room is best done with three people, four at maximum. Any more than four and I feel like some people might feel left out if you're following the fairly linear pattern of movements in this room. Technically this room can be done solo, but it would be slightly cumbersome to try to hold everything by yourself. Also, be aware that you can be teamed up with strangers here if you don't book the whole room. If you're feeling lucky, you can chance it and hope no strangers book for your same time slot. As for puzzles, there seemed to be a higher reliance on scavenging here. However, scavenging is done via wordplay riddles and clues that you find, so you won't be blindly searching through the room. There was one particular task that was a huge surprise as I've never had to do something similar to this in another escape room, and I thought it was awesome! With regards to set design, The Curiosity Shop is quite honestly the creepiest escape room I've ever done, and I say this as someone that greatly enjoys haunts and scary events. If you check out my review for another particular escape room that's often billed as the scariest escape room ever, you'll see that I'm not the type that gets scared easily. Still, The Curiosity Shop did a fantastic job of creating an unsettling atmosphere that had me delightfully anxious. There are no scare actors here, so you don't need to worry about someone jumping out at you. If you're local and you're looking to either satisfy that itch to do another room or try a room for the first time, The Curiosity Shop is a fine choice. read more
