We did Mobile Escape Room LA as part of a St. Patrick's Day event at Cross Roads Escape Games in Anaheim Hills. I loved the idea of 3 rooms at one location and was excited to have the opportunity to visit this room in our area as it had been on our "to do" list. When we first approached the room I was skeptical. It's a small space, but we were greeted with such enthusiasm that my concerns quickly faded. We were taken inside and the adventure began. Johnny definitely has a passion for his craft and is a master storyteller. He explained how it would work and that he would be nearby if we needed him. Once the curtain was opened, I was immediately impressed with the ingenious use of the space. I am easily scared, and while the room had an eerie feel to it, it wasn't scary at all. There were only two of us, but we began moving through the puzzles and clues steadily. I missed a couple of things and was given a gentle nudge in the right direction without anything being given away. While a team of two can sometimes be a hindrance, it was perfect in this case. And even though we may have finished it sooner with one or two more teammates, we felt the experience was perfect. I loved that the pieces were era specific and added to the quirky and slightly creepy vibe. Everything was very well done and as I said, Johnny just made the experience so much more enjoyable. Jessica was wonderful too and we enjoyed talking to the two of them almost as much as doing the room! They are two of the coolest owners we have encountered and people you would love to hang with in or outside of an escape room! :) They definitely love their business and it is apparent. I was fortunate to get to do this while attending a company retreat for my wife's employer. There were two rooms and they were modified to be shorter games. Groups of four went into each room and had 20 minutes to complete the escape. It was fun and exciting. The smaller space, shorter times and lower lighting gave each room a foreboding sense of atmosphere. The background hum of the motors added to this. All around it was great. The puzzles were the right level of challenging and the clues were helpful. My team had great chemistry and worked together well. This is necessary in the smaller rooms because you couldn't run around solving puzzles in your own. In the "party" setting there was lots to distract you from the answers so having different thinkers was great. I would highly recommend Mobile Escape Room LA. We were a little nervous at first that the truck wouldn't be big enough for an escape room. Boy were we wrong! Each area of the bus had plenty of clues and tasks, so everyone had something to do. There were some challenging moments due to the lack of space, but that made the game even better. What's really fun is they take pictures of you during the entire mission. Overall: Came away disappointed This was my groups first escape room; we found this company @ the Renn Faire. We had a party of 4 @ $20/person; time limit was 20 minutes. Paired w/ 2 strangers for a total group of 6. -Customer Service Issue: We booked our time slot in advance, and returned to play. When we arrived we were surprised to learn that we were to be paired w/ other players. We payed in advance and this was never mentioned. After complaining and arguing w/ staff, the woman working the desk agreed to refund us if we wanted. The group chose to stay; should have went with my gut. -Room Review: The room we played was the gypsy room. Cool theme. However, one puzzle had a broken component (a note on the Harp Puzzle) and another was a frustrating and poorly designed Simon Says Colors game. While our group of 4 fought w/ the Simon Says game, the other 2 solved several puzzles. The result was we finished the Simon Says game; pissed off at it, to return to have no idea what had been completed in the rest of the room. This I Imagine is why it's a bad idea to be paired w/ strangers; it takes away from the 'we did this as a team' experience. -Host/Owner Review: The owner and host/guide of the room was very friendly and helpful. He gave us tips when we were stuck, and helped direct our focus to key words/clues/etc. He also allowed us to finish the room when time ran out; we ended up needing about 60 extra seconds. read more

My rating is a sort of "average" between the two rooms. I've done 60 escape rooms so far so I'm fairly experienced. To be perfectly honest I found the first Mobile game, Sleep Study, pretty underwhelming to say the least. Without dwelling too much on that, I would strongly recommend prospective players to instead do their new room, Mr. MacGuffin's Dinner party. I had a fantastic time there and it was a great example of what a short escape room should be. Surprisingly great decor and atmosphere for such an odd space, a fun story, and enjoyable, though fairly straightforward, puzzles. We did the room at ScareLA and had 20 minutes - we got out in 19, which made for an exciting and well-balanced experience. Got to try out the "mobile" escape room. Sleep study room, that is... Omg!! When you walk in you think "oh, boy.. This is really dumb" but NOPE it is actually intense. It's hard and tricky. Don't wanna give much away but you won't be disappointed. The best part is that they come to you or you go to them depending on the situation. Its on a mobile bus and It's local!! Great for parties! It really gets your adrenaline going... You'll want to play it over and over. If you know how to think critically this is definitely the game for you especially if you want to escape. We DID!!! I first did The Sleep Study and was amazed how good it was - a fascinating story of a psychological experiment gone wrong - all on a bus. It was one of the most exciting escape experiences I've ever had. I was even more surprised when I tried their Lavinia's Den at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire. It was genuinely inspiring how they transported our team into a totally convincing and immersive gypsy lair with hidden secrets that was perfectly themed for a Ren Faire. They packed more excitement in a relatively small space - and in only a 20 minute game - than other escape rooms are lucky to accomplish in an hour. Can't WAIT to try their third room. I recently hosted my 11yr old son's birthday party. We have had birthday parties in the past, but nothing like this. No response after 2 days so I requested a quote on their website service. No response after 4 days so I texted them on 5/2/19, as it requests on their website. No response after 4 more days so I just called again, 5/6/19, and I am unable to leave a message on their answering service because the mailbox is full and is unable to accept any more messages. Perfection. We rented it for my birthday party, and everyone had an absolute blast. Annie and Johnny were on top of it, getting the groups together to make sure everyone had a chance to go through. If I could leave zero stars I would. I attempted to book both mobile escape rooms for a corporate team building event one month in advance and days before the event I was told by John and his sister that the date was no longer available. I confirmed the date with John multiple times and asked him to send an invoice so I could send payment -- all seemed to be going well and I even shared the plans with the team of 24. Three days before my event, I received an email -- after following up yet again for an invoice -- that the date was booked. These people are unreliable, untrustworthy and made me look bad in front of my colleagues and boss. You would be wise to avoid booking MobileEscapeRoom for any corporate or private event. read more

This escape room is unique because it is self contained inside of a working vehicle that can drive to events for private bookings as well as function as an escape room that you book tickets to online individually. The theme is quite creepy and the room design is well done in a way that feels a bit like a scary movie. The puzzles are fun and creative. The time limit is a bit shorter than most other games I have played. I thought it was a lot of fun. One thing to be aware of when booking is that since it's inside of a vehicle it is a small space...may cause a bit of extra scare factor to those players with claustrophobia. read more

The Mobile Escape Room is exactly what it sounds like: an escape room on wheels that can come to you. It's a tour bus that was converted to an escape room. Since we had a Groupon, we had to visit them in Sherman Oaks. Call or email them to reserve a room, as they have no online booking system. The owner and host communicates frequently and is extremely friendly, and she'll do her best to accommodate your requests The "room" is parked in a driveway in a dead end of a residential area, so if you're going to find them, don't be worried about knocking on the door of a seemingly random home. Also, the address posted on the site and the address they send you is incorrect; call in ahead of time to check their proper location. There's plenty of street parking. The tour bus looks rather unimpressive from the outside, but there is a surprising number of puzzles to solve. It is a somewhat creepy theme -- a mad doctor kidnaps you into his "sleep study" -- so you'll encounter some things that will give you goosebumps if you don't have steely nerves. Though none of the puzzles particularly stands out in terms of difficulty or flair, the fact that space is tight forces players to devote some time and energy to maneuvering around each other and staying organized. The website claims it holds up to six, but three or four pushes the capacity. The room is shabby and it seems like it needs some upkeep. The fact that they can come to you and host parties is a service unique to this business. Though you may have to pay a bit more to rent the room, doing so is highly convenient. They have a kid-friendly version that is perfect if you have ten-year-olds who love puzzles. For the service that it provides, this is a unique room. However, if you're basing your opinion of the Mobile Escape Room solely on the quality of the room itself in comparison with the other rooms around Los Angeles... it's good, but not great. It's not extremely well-kept and none of the elements will leave a lasting impression. If you really want the room to come to you, do it; you and your party will have a good time. But there are much better rooms that are well worth the travel. read more
