Perfect spot for date night! Came with my husband to play some board games. I'm more interested in light hearted, childhood classics like uno, hungry hungry hippos, guess who, and trouble. My husband knows I love Game of Thrones and picked it off the shelf while browsing. That was a mistake. It was a very strategic game that required way too much brain power for me haha. We spent too much time trying to figure out the rules. Next time, we'll come earlier or just stick to easier games. They have something for everybody. You have access to all the games as well as all the rooms. You can decide if you want a private room or be out in the main room. It's all just based on availability at the moment. Me and my husband have been to Nevermore Game Club multiple times now, and are now monthly recurring members. It is an amazing place for board and tabletop game enthusiasts to hang out and play games. The ambience is fantastic. The themed room that are available for rent are also quite nice. We have since formed a rather large group to go here regularly. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful in whatever you're playing if you need help. The fact that you can also bring your own drinks (as long as lidded) and food is a huge plus. They do sell packaged snacks and drinks, but no full meals if you want to stay for a while. There's Thai, Chinese, and Taco Bell all within walking distance if you need a full meal. There's also regularly scheduled events almost every night and weekend. It's such an amazing place, and super LGBTQ+ friendly also. The store and merch they sell are also cute. All in all, I'm so grateful for this place to be in Riverside. They have a small shop at the front with little trinkets and jewelry. There was food listed on their website, but not really any available when we arrived as they reported some issues with their fridge. However, they do have a water filling station available. Service: Incredible! We called to verify hours as their website showed discrepancies with Google that they're currently working to rectify--I'd call if you're unsure. The owners / managers are really friendly and offered to teach us various games and gave us a tour of the club. Just discovered this place on one of my many walks. It was so cool. They had 100s of games there toplay so there's something for everyone. Even kids. They even had a changing table in the bathroom. Everyone was playing dungeons and dragons which I don't know how to play but I'll be back and learn. Cool date night idea. Wish I had more hands to give it four thumbs up! We brought our 7 month old with us and there were toys and a great changing table in the bathroom. This place is my new favorite place! I mean, I do have to drive an hour out, but Nevermore is worth it, especially if you like games. I am always intimidated to play, but when my boyfriend said he was introduced to a game, even tried the game at Nevermore, he bought that game for my students and brought me here. My curiosity was peaked. I met a wonderful employee who gave us a tour of this remarkable venue. So much goes on here, and really, you have to check it out for yourself. There are rooms that host themes around dungeons, Renaissance taverns, fairy tales, and so much more. It's not a party venue but rather a strategically designed location to cater to various board game skills and talents. If you are a regular gamer, you can even rent space to play Dungeons and Dragons, Pokémon, Magic the Gathering, and more. Really, you just have to see it for yourself. I think their website says it best when I read "a library of over 800 board games and other tabletop games." After looking at the shelves of games and speaking with the employee, at first, I thought I was a strategy board game player. I do have a competitive spirit, but I also like to use skills, and words! I soon discovered that I enjoy Trivia and Party Games, and I would not have figured that out without the guidance of the Nevermore employee. She was helpful, not intimidating, and oh so helpful. I was pointed to a table of games that was meant to kill time. For one customer, she wanted to play a game to take a break from her studying, so she played PERFECTION. Remember that game? Classic board games are also available. We were introduced to Tumbling Pandas and In The Dark (pretty sure it is a variation of Connect Four from the '70s or '80s), which were BOTH hilariously fun. I plan on visiting Nevermore again, especially if you want to learn how to play the games. Their employees are knowledgeable and check on you as you play. Before leaving (by the way, there is a fee for sitting and playing these games), we were invited to a DnD game night where players can learn to play the game. We held our son's birthday party in the dungeon room and have gone to play games on other days. Aaron, Michelle, and the other staff are very friendly and helpful, and we highly recommend this place. I am an avid board gamer, and their collection could see some updating to newer titles. Still, they do a good job of offering various party, cooperative, strategy, and family games. For less than the price of a movie, you can play for hours. While other game stores might have a few folding tables and industrial lighting, Nevermore focuses more on the ambiance and playing the games instead of selling them, which sets them apart. They have a lot of regulars, so it does feel like a family/club atmosphere yet friendly to new people. They are close to UCR which allows them to tap into the nearby college student population. As I get older, I recommend a little more light over some of the tables as it can sometimes be hard to read the cards/tiles on games. read more

The Father & Son duo that leads this awesome game lounge are absolute rockstars. They know a lot about their craft, and seem to be genuine born story tellers which amplifies the fun even more. Last but not least, they were both very welcoming and super accommodating after this English teacher visiting her out of town in-laws for the holidays failed to read and comprehend that I booked one of their escape rooms for the next day instead of the same day. Anyone that knows me would not be surprised by this reoccurring incident. They have a huge selection of games labeled by genre. There were things I never knew existed, things I love to currently play, and many that I hadn't seen in years! As an avid board game player and puzzle lover, this place is heaven. We were also recommended a place in San Diego to visit that is also a tabletop lounge. I'm excited to check out something closer to home! My partner and I are big board game people and we're always looking for new games to play, so we were really surprised we didn't find Nevermore sooner! Sunday was our first time visiting and it was honestly an incredible experience. The price, the atmosphere, the sheer amount of games was all incredible. The owners Michele and Aaron are extremely friendly and were happy to help us pick and learn how to play a game. I was extremely happy they had the strategy game Scythe, it's a game I've been eyeing for a while but it's been a bit too pricy for my wallet. We ended up only playing Scythe the whole time there, it was extremely enjoyable! And I was super excited to learn that it's one of the owner's favorites.
