Ahmad features both established artists and those from the local community who hold great promise. He has an eye for talent and his prices are reasonable. There is a wonderful art museum across the street and Pomona College has their art museum just two blocks away. These three location alone are a reason to visit Claremont, but, as one will discover, there are many more.

I began searching the internet to find something that could work, and didn't have a lot of luck. I called someone who had done what I thought was the best I could find, but she said she was too busy. So, back to searching, and I am soooo glad that happened, because I soon found Makena Tile Murals. Jana is a true artist, and the work she does is amazing, unlike anything else I could find. I called Jana, and discussed what I was looking for. She answered all of my questions, and said she could do what I wanted, and safely ship it my home in Northern California. She kept me involved all through the process, by sending drawings and pictures, showing me the plan for the turtle's shape, and the colors of the turtle and coral. I also felt the price was very fair. At the end of it all, I had a beautiful mural which had such an organic look and was loved by all who saw it. I instantly fell in love with her designs. I sent her a photo of my curtains and she was able to replicate the design in a tile mural. I received the completed project yesterday and am extremely pleased with the end result. For me it's the experience - the time spent looking, studying, and simply browsing a collection is worth gold to me. Chemers Gallery in Tustin is that place that offers that whole experience. Every time I go in there, which I admit isn't near often enough but probably more than some, I delight in "finds". I have a fairly decent collection of artwork and it's not confined to paintings. I've ceramics, sculptures, glasswork, pottery, photographs, and a few weird pieces of found object works as well. Quite a few of those pieces have come from this jewel of a gallery so close to home. The owner Karen, and her friendly staff have always allowed me the luxury to simply roam. I have to walk through numerous times to take everything in. I get distracted by one or two pieces and then turn around and find something else completely unexpected. And, it becomes mine. I love this place!! I am a retired healthcare designer and Chemers was the art consultant on a few of our firms healthcare projects. What I enjoyed was the chosen works were always different from the predictable works too often seen in healthcare spaces and, they always complimented the concepts of our interiors. I also love the shows and exhibitions they often host here. Often soliciting works from local artists, craftspeople, and even foodies, these "pop-up" shows are always good for gifts, wearables, and sometimes taste-ables! And if I'm lucky, I often walk away with a new piece! I always look forward to stopping in on these shows and could spend an hour or more perusing.
