The Experience Machine is located just a few minutes north of the 10 freeway in Upland. They are located in a strip mall which was pretty quiet on a Sunday afternoon. Look for the ESCAPE ROOM sign over head and the mirrored front windows. They have two rooms: "The Amazing Argo: A Steampunk Adventure" and "The Lost Treasure of El Capitan". We chose to do the Argo room. We were greeted by Alain, who would be our game master. After scanning a QR code on the TV to complete the online waiver, we were escorted into the room and our time began. All parts of room are immersive and there are a lot of really great props and display items that fit the theme of being on a steampunk airship well. The room is mostly non-linear, but flows well, and has a big variety of puzzles with just a few locks, quite a few mechanical puzzles, and even a few arcade style puzzles. There was one puzzle that wasn't properly reset but Alain was quick to resolve the issue. He gave us helpful hints without totally giving the solution away when we asked for help a few times which I always appreciate. This was a close one, but the two of us escaped right at the 60 minute mark. Afterwards, we enjoyed discussing elements of the room and other rooms in SoCal with Alain. He also gave us a quick view of the El Capitan room which I'm sure we will return to try. They are currently building a third room Code Black which will be a mostly completely dark room. Their rooms are very reasonably priced at only $50 per person for two people. The price per person goes down if you have a bigger group. Give their rooms a try! read more

My brother and I drove to Upland from the San Fernando Valley to try Mind Suite. I saw some great reviews and had to give their rooms a try. Mind Suite did NOT disappoint. The amount of hard work and passion they put into their rooms show as soon as you step into the waiting lobby. Expect warm greetings when you get there. Also, check out the production value of the rooms! You can tell they have high standards for the way the rooms are built. They're immersive, fun, and challenging. Our group is a group of Escape room enthusiasts where some of us have done 80+ rooms and 40+ together. We have gone to escape rooms that were low production to escape rooms with live actors. We always rave about escape rooms being more about the experience and immersive factor storyline rather than puzzles. I was really excited to try this new room we found on Yelp. I appreciate this company for their good customer service and kindness! The production was shown in their room that we did "Treasure Quest" and we have to give mad respect to the work that was done! It was cool! Because we have gone to escape rooms that have great immersion factor, I do have to say that they could do better with the introduction of the room to make us feel in the mood by NOT letting us know we will be split but by having us close our eyes and let us know that they have to bring us in one by one. I think that would have been better, it leaves room for surprises. Also, they didn't really introduce us to the room until we had to ask them what the storyline was. All of these suggestions are just to better the experience for everyone else. SIGNATURE DETAILED VERSION - Inland Empire area isn't exactly littered with escape room businesses everywhere like the LA market, hence it's almost extra rewarding to discover small escape game businesses--especially those of good quality--popping up here and there. Meet the newest player, Mind Suite Escape Rooms. Situated in an otherwise unassuming strip mall, Mind Suite is currently a diamond in the rough, though it doesn't take much for a customer to realize they mean serious business. Stepping through the main entrance, I immediately saw a professional and welcoming lobby that far exceeded my initial expectations. Though not entirely furnished due to current construction for their next feature, of the decorations that were complete, attention to details was obvious. I immediately knew my soon to begin game won't be shabby. (And a bonus point for using Bath & Body Works scented hand soap in the restroom!) Although their presently solo offering "Treasure Quest" may not bring forth the most unique story line, it is a family friendly one that is readily digestible even by the youngest escape trainee in the family: We arrrrr pirates and we arrrrr looking for the hidden treasures! On the bright side, at least the objective is, much like the gemstone you're seeking, crystal clear. What I do strongly commend Mind Suite for is, they knew what they were doing, and they did it well. First off, selecting a pirate theme and time period, though common, is actually no easy task! While the countless escape games out there have the option to bombard players with a curiously wide array of combo locks that exists on the face of the earth, this isn't a possibility for a life at sea in the 1600s. (More owners than I'd like to see make this cardinal mistake. Why would I have a Master directional lock in a pharaoh's grave?) "Treasure Quest", for the most part, stuck to their guns, or blades, in keeping everything era appropriate. Though there're a few exceptions that could be improved, immersion was aptly achieved, and I had a great time seeking for Davy Jones's coveted jewels without being reminded I live in the 21st century. In addition, it was especially enjoyable when I was doing that in a beautifully constructed set! Despite not expecting a franchise budget production value from a small business, I was pleasantly blown away at the magnitude of greatness Mind Suite aimed to achieve--and largely succeeded. This isn't a "take an office space, plaster the wall with Party City decor, add a few pieces of furniture here and there" type of room. These guys actually built upon the existing structure to truly transform flat surfaces into rocky caverns. And maybe, just maybe, you'll even see a pirate ship?! Puzzle wise, the staff rates it intermediate, though an unlimited hint system might modulate the difficulty to as easy as one may desire. Because your team would be separated in the beginning, a solid grasp of general escape room game play and good communication are both crucial. While my team of 2 struggled to complete the game under the time limit, a group of 4 players, even of average skills, would likely be more than sufficient to conquer all challenges with relative ease. Speaking of these challenges, I did thoroughly enjoyed the range of puzzle formats they were able to embed. True to goal, scavenging was appropriately included, (you're treasure hunting after all,) on top of a barrel-ful others that I did not expect to encounter. Having experienced more than 90 rooms to date, I did not necessarily find all of puzzles groundbreaking, and yet, the cold hard fact was, I still got stumped several times during my 60-minute-plus game play. Touche to me. A nice mix of gen 1 elements (lock & key) and gen 2 tech (automation) were carefully selected to help craft a story world that's believable in its own universe, and (almost) all were woven appropriately into the plot developments without their being puzzles for puzzles' sake. Overall, it's a safe and reliable choice, both for the business and its patrons. It is suitable for a large audience for its wholesome and adventurous subject, and it's unlikely to disappoint! A lovely experience backed by friendly hospitality from the entire staff, I could not ask for more. ...Except maybe I can, because they're currently busy building their second room! My lady and I came here for a date and we had an amazing time. We did the Pirate room and all of the puzzles were extremely interactive and very fun. It is a split start so if you're doing the room with only two people you will be split up, but there is A way to communicate and you help each other with the puzzles. Eventually you will be in the same room working together. The room is extremely well-made and has a lot of really cool props. I'd suggest a minimum of 2 to 3 people but more might be preferable. Our "guide" was extremely helpful and definitely made us feel at home, and definitely helped us along the way. We both escaped with less than a minute on the clock which was really fun coming down to the wire. I'm really looking forward to coming back for the submarine room soon with my lady and hopefully we'll beat that one too! read more

I will say upfront something that I should say with all of my reviews. I am not the typical Escape Room Yelp reviewer. I'd like to think of myself as critical but fair and objective. I may not be but that's for you to decide as a reader. Mind Suite was charming. A husband and wife working together to build around a passion for escape rooms in the middle of a pandemic. I appreciate that and the owners of Mind Suite didn't disappoint on that promise. After my team of valiant adventures arrived at the Mind Suite parking lot, we headed inside and were greeted by the owners who were warm and friendly. We headed into The Treasure Quest. There was an interesting split start and some clever puzzles, perhaps more scavenging than I would liked but it all came to a conclusion in the final room and we escaped with 9 minutes left. In hind sight, it was a solid room with some good production elements, interesting visuals and decent puzzles. After a brief break, we headed into Argo. Simply put, beautiful. If you've played it, the look/feel of the room is similar to Nautilus at 60out, however, I'm happy to say with one important distinction. The puzzles in Argo are significantly better than Nautilus. Unique, clever, and some "ah ha" moments that make the experience worth it. There was a bit too much use of black light and one puzzle that I wasn't a fan of but the owner seemed open to feedback after the game. Overall, I would put Treasure Quest at #136 out of 281 (4 stars) but Argo wins the day at #50 out of 281 (4.5 stars) and could easily move higher with some minor tweaks. A bonus star for escape room owners who are struggling during this difficult time. Overall, a pleasant surprise with a great group of adventurers! read more

Mind Suite escape room is a phenomenal find for beginners and enthusiasts alike. Unlimited hints, friendly owners, and great customer focused business practices. Both rooms are well themed , puzzle-filled designed and most importantly .. FUN! Treasure Quest is a private adventure with good twists and turns. They really pull off the high seas theming. Whereas Argo Steampunk is a huge adventure that just keeps on giving better for a larger group too! It reminded me of BioShock but without the scares. Even with hundreds of rooms under my belt, I enjoyed every minute of these 2 rooms. read more

The Inland Empire is always in search of new escape rooms, and we have been blessed with the addition of Mind Suite. Tucked away in Upland is an absolute gem of a company that has put out easily two of the best escape rooms in all of the IE. The set design is stunning in both rooms which really pays off when it comes to immersion. Once the door closes you are immediately immersed in your theme. Whether you choose to embark on a pirate adventure or dive into a steam punk submarine you have 1 hour to enjoy all of the hard work that goes into making you forget that you are in an escape room. The decor is great, and none of the puzzles in either room feel out of place. Ah puzzles. It doesn't always have to be combo or directional locks. The reason I enjoyed Mind Suite is because the puzzles match the room perfectly. No futuristic locks on an ole timey pirate ships and no old fashion lock and keys in your futuristic submarine. There were puzzles I've never seen and senses I've never used in my 60+ rooms of experience. Even with the large amount of puzzle in Argo, nothing felt repeated, useless, or out of place. Staff is great and super accommodating. The rooms are clean and the company is very conscious of the current situations. We returned to Mind Suite to play "The Argo" Man...oh man remember everything I said about their Pirate room? Now go and multiply that by 10. The argo is filled with thematic puzzles, great physical elements, loads of hands out interactions that are more than just "turn a key" while while giving you a dense steam punk setting that makes sure to let you whats in play and what's decoration. I recently did their Treasure Quest room. It's their first and (so far) only room, and I must say - I'm impressed! On a purely aesthetic level, you won't find many escape rooms on par with Mind Suite. The theme was presented beautifully, and was consistent throughout in terms of both puzzles and decoration. I can honestly say my immersion wasn't broken a single time. There were no significant logic leaps, and the way the room encourages teamwork and communication is highly enjoyable. This room was beautiful! I've done about 20 escape rooms and they really did a good job on production. The puzzles were pretty great as well. There was a good mix between gen 1 and gen 2 puzzles and some that I had never seen before. I really really loved the set! This room had the potential of being one of my favorites but the reason I knocked off one star is our host was incredibly unenthusiastic. Anytime she provided direction she would say stuff like "don't touch that" in monotone voice. She was nice and even let us stay an additional 10 minutes to finish the puzzles but she just seemed so bored. We also wasted a lot of time cause she didn't know what clues to give us for certain puzzles but I think they will figure this out with time. Also, they state anyone 14 yrs or younger is free on their website but when I called they said a 12 year would have to pay. I then mentioned their website and they seemed really confused but honored the website nonetheless. The lady said they would change their website which kinda sucks tbh. I would recommend this room IF the host gets an energy boost. Part of what makes an escape room exciting is the host being excited as well. I can tell she is actually a really sweet girl and maybe it's all just new. I'm actually excited to come back since they are building another room. read more

We started out in different rooms and had to really work together to figure out how to get back together. We both thought that the puzzles were very creative and there were definitely some puzzles that we've never seen or thought of. The owners are a couple of really kind people and you could tell that they put a lot of thought into these puzzles. They really stumped us sometimes! The current room open is Pirate themed and though I won't spoil it, I'll say your party is initially split up and eventually you'll end up together. Definitely challenging. We played both of their rooms back to back. Starting with the Pirate Themed room. It was fun, immersive, with wonderful puzzles that made you think and cooperate.
