Ordered plain wings with sauce on the side. My wings were freezer burned. Very greasy.

A great way to try out some Korean cuisine!…read more We were seated quickly and the waitress gave us enough time to look over the menu. We really enjoyed the Mandu dumplings, that are crispy and have a flavorful inside. The Korean fried chicken was also a hit. We got the bone in and enjoyed the K barbecue sauce style. But I actually liked the tofu soup and army stew. These soups were not very spicy, but had the spice of the Korean chili flake nicely infused to a flavorful broth. I'm a big fan of glass noodles so the army stew had some nice salty notes with the spam and hotdog. My friend liked the tofu soup and it came with three Bach Chan side dishes. Would be nice for them to have a bean sprout side but the vinegar dikon radish was good! The space was inviting but maybe too bright for me with the lighting. Overall would recommend! I have had many a tofu soups in the cities and i would say this one is my favorite!

The wings were excellent: light, crispy batter, evenly fried, and juicy inside with no greasiness. Simple, clean execution that lets the chicken shine. The kimchi had a nice fermented tang, and the vinegar-pickled radish was crisp, refreshing, and perfect for cutting through the richness of the fried chicken. The ambiance was good, comfortable and clean, and the service was friendly and accommodating. Solid Korean fried chicken spot with great attention to customers--we'll definitely be back.

A Study in Patience and Poultry: The Unhurried Charm of Cedar Inn…read more Tucked away on Cedar Street just outside the bustling Minneapolis perimeter, the Cedar Inn operates on a frequency entirely its own. It is an unapologetic local haunt, a room thoroughly saturated with what one might politely call "character." To cross its threshold is to accept a fundamental renegotiation of time: one must abandon any sense of urgency, as the kitchen operates with a deliberate, unhurried pacing that turns a quick bite into an extended residency. Fortunately, the establishment provides ample diversion for the wait. The space is a veritable playground of local wagering, boasting an array of gambling options that keep the atmosphere charged and the patrons thoroughly entertained while the culinary gears slowly turn. When the food does arrive, the results are largely triumphant. An order of twelve wings, efficiently partitioned among a trio of diners, proved to be the exact mathematical ideal for a shared appetizer. More importantly, they were a genuine culinary delight--crisp, well-sauced, and deeply satisfying. The supporting cast of sides was equally formidable; both the onion rings and the French fries achieved a flawless, golden perfection that many loftier kitchens struggle to master. The experience is not without its rustic quirks, of course. The beverage program is staunchly utilitarian, dispensing sodas strictly by the aluminum can. And while the fryer was clearly working magic on the potatoes and onions, the fried mushrooms suffered a tragic loss of thermal momentum, arriving at the table regrettably cold. "A good local pub has much in common with a church, except that a pub is warmer, and there's more conversation." -- Bill Vaughan Despite the sluggish tempo and the minor misstep with the mushrooms, the Cedar Inn remains a fundamentally great local spot. It is an establishment that knows exactly what it is, requiring only that you adjust your watch to its rhythm. I will certainly be returning--if only to surrender to the pacing once more and investigate the promised draw of their Tuesday tacos. The beer list is one of the best in the Twin Cities, and the selections rotate quite frequently. The bartender is always attentive and food comes out promptly. I called on Memorial Day and placed a phone order because the online ordering system on the Buster's website was down. No problem, the order was done over the phone, and pick up would be ready in 15 minutes. I live 5 minutes away, so no problem. 8 minutes later I show up to pick up the food. This place was dead, which just 3 people at the bar. This place is usually packed for happy hour at 4:00pm. At least my food was ready when I arrived. I paid, left a good tip, and went back home. When I opened the food at home, I was disappointed. I ordered the homemade vinegar chips to find just plain chips. What? This was one of the standouts when Triple D aired for this joint. I double checked their website, and sure enough, just plain chips now. Dang. Well that was in me. What wasn't on me was the horrible pale looking limp fries. I literally live 5 minutes away, but the fries were cold and limp. Even putting them in the air fryer didn't help. The chicken sandwich I got for the kid was dry, and also came with the sad limp fries. The wife's CCC burger looked pretty good though, but we had to throw the fries away. My dry rub wings were the only saving Grace of the entire meal. Sad. Won't be eating here again.

Ever since 2020, the climate surrounding the George Floyd Square has changed dramatically, and this establishment has become an even stronger integral part of the community as the square itself had represented how the community thrives with its people. A lot of respect for the establishment from that perspective. In terms of food, I would say the soul food, which contained mostly sides, were the main highlight for me. The mac & cheese was salty enough. The fries were solid in a "you can't really go wrong with it" type of way. The candied yams had enough sweetness. The collard greens could taste better but standards must be lower when they're not homemade. I also enjoyed the catfish fillets as they were fried to preserve enough hotness and softness. A lot of what they served, they made on the spot, which was what may be causing longer wait for some. Meat-wise, a lot of items could use further improvement because they were too dry, such as the smoked wings and the beef brisket. The wings were dry to the point that they condensed and got extremely salty. The brisket relied a lot on the sauce and the existing fat on the meat for juiciness while the meat itself didn't have a lot of flavor or juice. As for the ribs, they had some seasoning, and tasted just fine, and weren't as dry. But I have had ribs in Texan barbeque places before and knew what "seasoned" ribs were like and therefore concluded that the ribs here were not spectacular. With all that said, however, I still will return here as often as I can because I love supporting this business. The person serving me was very hospitable and patient. I still got some pretty solid barbeque even if it's not Texas. Besides, outside just the barbeque food, the soul food was solid, like I had mentioned above.

But what I got was perfect, so why would I care?
