I enjoyed this place. Wings were a bit small, but were fried to crispy yet moist inside. Good flavor, medium heat wasn't overpowering. Has the oily feel which you want on wings, but definitely not soggy, and was served fast. If you're looking to satisfy your wing craving, this is a good place to go. the customer service over the phone was the nicest I've had in a while, but the wings have been my favorite ever since my parents introduced me to Wings and things almost 20 years ago, and I still get the same amazing flavor on the wings, I usually get NUKE flavor, but I been. getting extra hot, and every time I request the extra crispy on the wings, the wings arrive crispy, saucy, and amazing, I always get a side order of fries and a drink, they always do goood delivery, and the system they use, when they ask for your phone number, if you were previous customer, it brings up your address, so it makes it easier for them to deliver, if you are getting delivery, but you can also go pick up the wings too, I love the celery and ranch on the side, I had to get some wings for dinner read more

People need to understand the wings here are made and cooked precisely like the old downtown wings n things from the 70's. People that been around this long know that!!! Is there a rating lower than 1? The driver didn't have ten dollars in change so he told me he'd come back with it. There's a liquor store across the street, the YMCA and a strip mall next to the trailer park. INSTEAD, he decided to go back to the store and take other deliveries and wait until he got around to FEELING LIKE returning with the money I entrusted him with! Which he did... after half an hour, three calls, and two conversations with Eric the manager. Still my place of choice for wings. Ordering on line for pickup is simplistic. Selections include all drums or wings, crispy or extra crispy, drain the excess butter, and all the other wing options and accompaniments. This place is normally good when it comes to food and pretty good with the customer service. I've been going to this franchise for some years when it was owned by others. I would not recommend anyone to come here after what took place over a mistake or issue on their part. If you have an issue with your food the owner Dawn is absolutely unprofessional, and lacks customer service skills and doesn't know how to properly seek resolutions to issues with the food they serve. I had a piece hair in my food (wings) and once I brought it to their attention, and just asked them to remake them; Dawn was extremely rude, snatched the container away And used a load of profanity towards me when I asked to speak to the manager after asking for my money back due to her disgusting behavior and outburst in front of lobby of customers. "I'd like to order a bucket, half medium and half hot" That was our order at my last visit to Wing n Things and let me tell you, it will definitely not be my last. I grew up on these wings so every time I'm in town, I HAVE to eat here. Since I moved, I have yet to find anything that compares to these wonderful wings of goodness... Seriously, they're perfectly season, fried pieces of heaven! I was crushed when I heard the original downtown location closed. But now, all is well since their reopening. The new location has more seating, but I must admit, I miss the tiny blue, cozy, albeit somewhat dingy downtown spot. Have been to both this 36th St location and to the new location on 6th Ave across from the Performing Arts Center. I went to the 36th one about a month after they re-opened when it was still crazy packed- like an hour wait for the wings once you ordered them. I got 10 mild and 10 medium and while both were ok, they were insanely greasy and that made me sick (my stomach is sensitive to too much grease). They were also not worth that kind of wait. I've since been back to this location twice, once in December and once this month and they are *much* improved. The wings no longer sit in an inch high pool of grease in the bottom of your container (I go with take out most of the time). I think they also have the oil at the proper temperature and that makes a big difference on how much grease stays in the wings. I've also been to the 6th Ave. restaurant- there was a tapas place there before I think. It has nice seating and bar that takes up a good portion of the space, but it's a lot nicer than the 36th St. location. I sat down and ate them there and the wings are just a lot better right out of the fryer. You are able to move them around to get the grease to mostly drain out. These are 'dry' wings, which I prefer over ones drenched in sauce after they are cooked. I like both, but since this style is my preference, it definitely makes a difference. I'll also say that when they cook them right, these are the best wings I've ever had. Their blue cheese dressing is different than anything I've had before and very tasty. We got more than 20 wings which were perfectly deep fried into crispy goodness with a great rub of hot seasonings. Hot wings with a unique flavor. Hmm... cumin? Cloves? One can only guess what the highlight spice is in a Wings N Things wing. The blend of spices? Near impossible to decipher. Its deep flavor is complex to the average taste buds, and is probably what gives these wings a good following. I must be one of those black sheep, as I wasn't thoroughly impressed. Why? 1) These wings are wet and come in a pool of grease. I prefer dry, or at least, drier, wings. 2) They're tiny! I've had wings that were larger and cheaper, or had more cluck for your buck as some might say. 3) Service was miserable even on slow days. And then there's the flavor. Maybe I missed out on the real deal (hot and nuclear), but I had the mild and medium types so I could actually taste something. They had a nice kick and a flavorful, crispy skin that was enjoyable to munch on, but to my palate were nothing close to being lip-smacking. Nothing I would look forward to having for leftovers. There's a barbeque version that I may just try next time. They also do sub sandwiches and dessert. I never tried them, so I can't comment on them. Two of us ordered lunch yesterday for delivery. Delivery was fast, however, no one told us about the $5 delivery charge! And we tipped on top of that. Both of us ordered the cheese steak. It was horrible! There were no onions, no peppers, and only a merger amount of cheese!! The meat was extremely dry and for some reason they put lettuce and tomato on the bottom!! First time visit here and we found it clean and simple, with an abundance of space to spare. We were pleasantly greeted and given menus and select our table. We tried a half salad, and it was phenomenal! Just simply a great, great salad. And the half salad here is what other places would call a full salad - it was huge, and we ended up taking some home. We tried the garlic Parmesan wings and the teriyaki wings, and they were also great - tasty and crunchy, and hot and moist on the inside. Excellent wings, and that came along with the usual sauces and celery sticks. For the heck of it, we also tried their cheeseburger with the season fries, and once again, we're pleased with what we got -- a good helping of tasty fries and a nice-sized cheeseburger that was cooked just right. I took my wife for lunch to this god awful place my wife asked the gentleman at the register is your lemon pepper chicken good he says yes she says fine we'll have that so service was good all the way until we received the food which appeared to be dehydrated chicken that felt like jerky as my wife and I complained the gentleman said there was nothing he could do no refund no switch out for something else no piece of chicken has been touched the appearance was less than appetizing and he basically told us we have to deal with it being kind of rude because we did not want the dry chicken so we were basically strong armed robbed for $24 never will go here and never will recommend anybody goes here and I give everything a chance once before I say No so if you love to argue and dehydrated chicken this is your place to go and they called the police on us because we told them they were robbing us lmao go figure (Yes we are African-American) but I don't think that was the reason but who knows trump was in office at the time read more

This has been one of my favorite places since they opened in '83. When the original owners retired I was so sad, but then they announced someone else had bought the recipe and would continue the business. There were some hiccups but it got better and I was happy they were still open. Well tonight my husband went to get some wings for us and his experience plus the poor quality of the food have made it my last time. The order came to $23 based on the prices on the website but when he arrived the woman at the counter told him it would be $26, according to the menu above her head it was also $23 but she insisted $26 while refusing to explain the discrepancy. Sad to see Wings 'n' Things getting so little love on Yelp. I have to admit that I'm addicted to the secret seasoning that's on these wings, and even though I've moved to the region of the country probably known as a Mecca for wings, nothing is quite the same as W&T's spice mix. Joe and Teresa Connelly founded the first Wings 'n' Things restaurant in downtown Anchorage in 1983. Both hailing from Buffalo, home of the eponymous (and already widespread) wing, they set out to differentiate their product and developed what they termed the "Anchorage wing." What they created was magical, and many of us long-time Anchorage residents fell in love with the completely different and unique taste they gave us. Joe was famously secretive about his recipe, and so when he and Teresa abruptly decided to close the restaurant without explanation in 2007, many of us were crushed. My only regret is that the Anchorage wing--which is, objectively, superior to the vinegar-based mess of a traditional Buffalo wing--only exists in Anchorage and hasn't been re-exported to the Rust Belt or NYC or, heck, anywhere south of the 60th parallel. Now, strip away the magic seasoning (which is tantalizingly familiar but never-quite-pinpointable), and are these wings at this reincarnation of an old favorite objectively great? I'll admit they're not, and that plus the high price has me knocking a star off. The old W&T used wings supplied by Mike's Quality Meats in Eagle River, and they were a little chunkier, though still small and crispy. The new owner seems to be skimping a bit on the wing size (though not tremendously so--maybe 20% smaller than the original's), so for those expecting a nice, big, juicy, meaty wing, you're going to be disappointed. But the whole two-bites-plus-sucking-the-sweet-meat-morsel-from-between-the-bones thing was part of the experience at the original and continues to be now: the wings are largely a nice, crunchy vehicle to get as much of those secret spices into your mouth as possible. (Just think: smaller wings means a higher surface-area-of-spice-to meat ratio, so you can order more of them and get even more of that amazing flavor in your mouth!) They're also *very* oily. Not just glistening, but literally *soaked* in a pool of liquid grease. Cross-town competitor Winky's Wings, which popped up in the absence of the original W&T when it shut down, goes for a drier rub (and with a good but slightly sweeter spice mix) that probably works better if you're counting calories, but this place stays true to the original with a good several ounces of oil left behind on your plate. That greasy goo dripping with leftover clumps of the rub makes the perfect thing to dredge your leftover celery sticks through. (It's still healthy if it's celery, right?) Again, this is part of the charm of the original. And they're not gangbusters-hot, by default, anyway. Other reviewers complain they're too bland. I'm a "medium" kind of guy, and the mediums are admittedly fairly mild, though I can detect a hint of spice to them. The hots are a step up and have a pleasing heat to them, though I find the heat to actually overpower the deliciousness of the seasoning in the rub, so I personally stick with medium. I think there's also an extra hot option, but for those who crave their mouths on fire, go for "nuclear." I've never tried them, but don't order anything less than nuclear and then whine on Yelp that they weren't hot enough. (And please, for the love of all things 'n' wing, don't come here and order barbecue. They may be good, but that's not why you're here.) I alluded to the price earlier. They're not cheap. Few things in Alaska are, but at over a buck per tiny wing, plan accordingly. A combo of 5 wings plus an 8" cheesesteak (not at all traditional, but absolutely delicious just the same) is $17. Ouch. But smear that special, secret spice mix (allegedly still made in secret by original owner Joe Connelly) on these crispy, small, greasy, sorta-mild wings, and all potential sins are covered up. The sauce is very distinctly the same as it was when I started eating them in 1995, and that is the reason I come back to Wings 'n' Things over and over again. There's nothing on earth quite like an Anchorage wing, and I'm glad someone has kept the flame alive. I'll keep fulfilling my craving on my visits back home to Anchorage as long as this place remains open. read more

I went for lunch today because it's close by my workplace and decided to give it a shot after many years. I ordered a mild 10 piece because sometimes I can't eat it all and I'm somewhat of a spice wimp. The dry rub was perfect, just enough bite and the wings, all of them, were perfectly cooked. A nice crunch and hot and juicy! Even the celery was fresh and they were generous with it. The price went up a little, but with a new location that's clean and with the flow being a little better, it's worth it. Highly recommended! read more

the best ever! i've had many-a-wing in my day, and i can honestly say... these are the best i've ever had! ...AND IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE... the flavor is perfect! it's not the tangy, vinegary, run-of-the-mill, bright orange wing! these wings are spiced with something that i can't quite figure out (and i've tried to duplicate the taste, many-a-time in my own kitchen... even adding cumin, all-spice, etc.). whatever it is, they got it right!!! and apparently, i'm not the only one who cant figure it out. after the first wings n things closed, there were a lot of people wanting to fill that void (because wings n things has such a cult following); so much so, that people were willing to pay big bucks for the recipe. having moved out of alaska some 8-9 years ago, i was actually away when the original one closed. it genuinely bothered me that i would (seemingly) never get to taste those wings again. they're that good!!! when i heard that the owner had finally sold his recipe and that they would be reopening (under new ownership, but with the same name and same recipe), i was ecstatic! now, when i visit alaska, i make no less than a handful of trips to wings n things (even if i'm only there for a few days)... each time, i order a bucket of hot with extra blue cheese... and this last visit, i even ordered an extra bucket on the day i was flying out, brought it to where i was staying, and vacuum-sealed them for me to take home (home is hawaii). it's definitely nothing like getting them fresh out of the fryer, but it is enough to satisfy my wings n things cravings until the next time i'm in alaska! yes - THEY'RE THAT GOOD! living in hawaii for almost a decade, i get my fill of great and amazing food... rich in culture, rich in variety, rich in influences - hawaii is known for it's food!!! i crave NOTHING here more than i crave wings n things!!! read more

I have been eating these wings since I was six years old. They are by far the best wings ever, in my opinion. I do think that because there isn't very much meat on the wings you do have to order a bunch, but it's totally worth it for the flavor. I like to keep my order simple, always have. Its always mild wings, extra saucy, extra crispy. I don't experiment with the flavors, that's my reccomendation for new-comers.
