Visiting from North Carolina, I had a hankering for some fresh wings. Although there was a B-Dubs in town, l try to stay away from commercial franchises because they are so "commercial", no uniqueness of " town flava" While searching Yelp, I saw a couple of places but what caught my eye was Wings and Things. The name reminded me of a menu item at another place that starts with a "Z" so I was intrigued. I looked at the online menu and decided that was the spot I must go to to fulfill my craving. As soon as I arrived and walked inside, I was made to feel welcome. The manager said hello and chatted with me to better understand what I wanted to eat. I was eve given a sample of the "Medium" sauce as a means to help me with my decision making. I decided on wings with "Medium" and "Teriyaki" sauce, even requested for the wings be cooked "crispy". They came out perfect, not too saucy or too little sauce. I highly recommend this place as it is easy to get to, plenty of room if you choose to eat in and great atmosphere with nostalgic signs hanging up all around. The menu has a great variety of other "THINGS" to satisfy your food cravings. If you are reading this...what are you waiting for? JUST DO IT!!! read more

Just want to share this response on another platform so you can see how they treat people. See bottom for the owners response on my review. I love wing n things wings but their service is garbage. I just called to see if I could pick up my order instead of have it delivered. After 9 minutes of waiting on hold, i asked the lady about it and she canceled my order. I asked her why it was cancelled and she said my wife called and canceled the order. I asked how that was possible since I was waiting on hold during that time and this lady told me sorry, you'll need to replace the order. Have a nice day. What the hell... *Edited* I wish it would let me post as a response to the ridiculous Owners response. First off, my wife was sitting next to me the entire time and she never called you nor cancelled this order. Which means you or your staff either flat out lied to me or you guys negligently deleted our ordered. This probably means absolutely nothing to you based on your response to my complaint. I've eaten at wings and things since I was 7. Their wings are always good but I ordered the fries as well the other night and they were melted to the container . Daryl doesn't care about his customers health. To preface this review I'd like to disclose that I have been in the hospitality industry for over 40 years. I currently manage a restaurant with an excellent reputation and have done so for decades. I have been ordering take out from this establishment for years and have always enjoyed their wings and garlic cheese bread. Today my wife and I chose to eat there in house following an appointment nearby. We walked in, ordered, paid, and then sat ourselves at a table by the window. The table was to dirty that I thought it was speckled pattern on the Formica. One swipe of my finger disproved that. After realizing it was actually dust and debris I looked for a cleaner table to sit at and found this one to be the nicest of the bunch.. And the freaking restaurant was EMPTY!!! I wiped the table myself and we waited for our order. It was delivered promptly and the waitress was very pleasant. We began munching away and as always the food was delicious and presented beautifully. Halfway through our meal my wife pulled a long hair out of our basket of wings. She gave it to me, I looked at it, and wondered if I should say anything. As I said before, I have a lot of experience with restaurants and know sometimes mistakes happen. I chose not to be a problem and let it slide. Shortly thereafter we discovered ANOTHER foreign object in the wing basket. It was a couple of inches long and curly. To be honest I could not determine if it was a human hair or a piece of wool from a sweater. At that point I lost my appetite and knew I had to say something. I went to the owner/manager and told her of problem. She sent our waitress back with me to "see" if it was true. The first long hair found I had just dropped it on the floor not thinking I had to save it. I did show her the curly object and she asked me what I wanted her to do. I told that I'd pay for the drinks and the garlic bread but the wings should taken off the bill because of their contamination. She went back to the manager, explained the dilemma, and then the manager came over and said, " I hear that you think that the meal should be comped" I again told her I'd gladly pay for the sides but the wings had foreign contaminants in them, that we had lost our appetite upon discovering them and were only about half gone. She then developed an attitude that prompted this review. I explained my work history, my position, and she was adamant that I was lying. She said all her cooks back there had shaved heads and that I was making this all up. I could literally see both cooks from my table and they were not bald and one had long hair pulled up into a bun. I informed that a cook with long hair should also have a hair net or a at least a hat. Once again she said I was lying and didn't know what I was talking about. I showed her My ID and other credentials to assure her of my honesty, professionalism, and awareness of situations such as this and the proper way to handle them. She stomped off saying very rudely that she would refund my money and that I should never step foot in her restaurant ever again. Both my wife and tried to explain that we had been customers for years, always enjoyed her products, and would pay for the sides. She'd have none of it. She came back and threw the money on the table and huffed away. I have NEVER been treated so badly as a customer... And frankly as human! This whole time I never raised my voice, cursed, or caused a scene in any way whatsoever. As noted, I've dealt with situations like these for decades from the other side. This woman derided, insulted, and demeaned my wife and I for a mistake that she was responsible for. If it wasn't for her horrible attitude I would've let it all slide. Please know that I've always enjoyed their wings and have been a patron for decades, However, her egregious behavior crossed the line and must be called out. At least her wish will finally come true... I'll NEVER set foot in her establishment again!!! read more

OK, guess I cant rate 0. My son mistakenly ordered this instead of "wing stop" on door dash (because he's stupid) and I feel I need to warn everybody to not make the same mistake. I beg you !!!!!!! Our order was totally wrong, but even so the wings were inedible, literally. They had to have been reheated over days because they were insanely tough (and I can eat most anything) . I lived in Anchorage from 1982 - 1992. My father used to order from the old, downtown Wings 'N' Things all of the time. Wings 'N' Things nights were some of my favorites, and after I left Alaska, those wings haunted my memories. I've tried hundreds of other restaurants' buffalo wings hoping for something like the wings of my childhood, but nothing has quite been the same. Came back to Alaska this week for the first time since ~1995 and I'm happy to report that, other than this being a different Wings 'N' Things with a different location run by different owners, nothing has changed. I just happened to be in the area before heading home as it has been almost two years since my last visit here. Wings N' Things is located in a strip mall on the corner of 36th Ave. and Arctic Blvd. next to Sweet Caribou and the H&R Block. I was a longtime fan of the original location in downtown off of 6th and I St. and became friends with the owner Joe and his wife years ago. Joe was famous in town for his recipe on wings and that delicious one-of-a-kind sauce was highly addictive. Once they retired and moved back to New York, another person purchased the recipe for the sauce and opened the current location several years ago. It was only then that I missed how much I loved the wing sauce and it was time to give them another chance after my disappointing experience on my previous visit. The dining area has not changed with booths, a counter with stools, and a TV setup on one side and a spacious area with plenty of tables and chairs as well as a coin-operated video game machine filled with old-school 1980's classics in the next room. The lady behind the front counter gave me a friendly greeting and quickly took my order. I decided to go with my usual order of 10pc. medium wings with celery and two cups of blue cheese on the side. I only waited for a few minutes before it arrived at my table and this time the wings were absolutely delicious, hot from the fryer and tossed with plenty of that sauce that has made me come back countless times over the years. The medium had just the right amount of spice without taking away from the flavor and the wings were cooked to a crispy texture that was the perfect match for the sauce. The chunky blue cheese was also another standout which is made in-house every day. Ranch is also available but I have never opted for the ranch in all the times I've eaten there. The blue cheese is always the perfect complement for any style of wings. Other items on the menu include Philly cheese steaks, sub sandwiches, burgers, and an extended salad menu from the Salad Bowl in the same location. They had a banner advertising the Salad Bowl but they must've merged into one restaurant after the sign was taken down. The grease level of these wings are unbearable though the flavor of the seasoning sauce itself is good. However specifying mild, medium, or hot is pointless. It's all the same amount of heat. I ask every time for them to DRAIN THE BUTTER and give me extra seasoning sauce and they have not been able to do that in that so far. In addition to this, I am always required to go into great detail and be specific on wanting the wings well done. I give places a lot of chances as I know it is hard to keep a business going in Alaska. But after two undercooked and dangerous orders with no refund and only "replacement" wings I realized the business does not have the public's best interest in mind nor are they willing or able to put out quality and desirable food. The last time I attempted to eat at this facility. I have to request to have the wings extra crispy and well done in order to get wings cooked though the center. This should not be a requirement. They should just be providing cooked means to paying customers. With all of the elements of the food matched with the staff being very rude and dismissive. The "extra hot" wings had like this semi-dry rub kind of globbed on top of them, the texture of which I can only describe as when you put too little water into a taco seasoning packet, they weren't hot and the wings weren't coated. Why can't you get a real chicken wing delivered here?
