Prices are really affordable and the overall atmosphere is really cool for a diner. You really get that family diner feel and it feels like you found a hidden gem somewhere. It is located on a private air strip so you get to see planes coming and going. From a family standpoint, everyone is friendly and the owner actually spent time at our table giving up travel tips that our family could do without breaking the bank. All the food was good and there is free parking. They had live music playing outside and it was an overall great experience. You get a good bit of food for the menu and if you get the pancakes you will definitely be full. Whenever we comeback to Long Island we will definitely comeback.

A quaint and casual, old school eatery on the airport grounds with plenty of parking and some games in the grass while you wait (cornhole!). Saturday morning during Labor Day weekend at 10am...upper 70's, sun was hot and it was humid but not intolerable with the breeze. The outside tables were occupied and there was a small wait to be seated both indoors and out. A young girl was writing down names with phone numbers, which I thought was strange, because there was no call/text system when it was your turn to be seated. We were called indoors after five minutes of waiting outside. There was no place to wait indoors, so we stood outside. There was a gentleman setting up a keyboard to entertain which we thought was nice. We enjoyed his talent, but only on the way out. Inside was warm. There was counter seating, all occupied. We passed through to the back where there were 3 tables to seat 4 people and 2 tables to seat 2 people. The air conditioners in the walls were felt a bit better back there, thankfully. The waitress was nice, but busy. We asked a bunch of questions as 1st timers and she answered them all. No ice in the tap water, no lemons. Bottled drinks, coffee or chocolate milk. (There may have been other beverages offered out of the bottle but we didn't ask). The menu was easy, the prices were good. But the best part was the decor, the scenery through the windows and the little packaged airplane that was given to the kids upon sitting down. There was one guy cooking for everyone so there was a wait for food. We didn't mind. We took pictures, admired the huge map of Long Island on the wall, watched the bees on the sunflowers next to the window, read the interesting information on our placemats and got up to say hello to the gentleman in the room next to the Cafe who were watching the runways on a screen. The runway was not very active while we were eating but it was still cool to see planes parked outside the window. One order of pancakes (3 HUGE pancakes), one order of silver dollar (smaller for kids) oreo pancakes with a side of blueberries, and one order of egg whites, frozen potatoes and toast with a side of bacon. The pancakes were dense and heavy but tasted ok. Definitely needed syrup. A grown man could only eat one and a half. 6 silver dollar kid pancakes, also with leftovers. Fresh blueberries. Egg whites were plentiful, toast fine, potatoes were the kind you buy packaged/frozen but done right and tasty. Bacon tasted off and was mostly fat and grease ($5 extra). Oh....before the food came out, the waitress brought out a small plate of complimentary cinnamon sugar donut hole type treats; maybe to hold the little ones over? They were yummy. I struggled to give 4 stars as I wanted to give 3 and a half. But after the meal we witnessed a plane taxiing the runway with the door open. We realized that a bunch of brave souls were going skydiving. They took off and we waited for them to come down. It was awesome and they did a great job sticking the landing! It was a half hour drive and we would definitely go back if in the area. A great way to start off our family holiday weekend!

Virtually every single review I've done up until now, at least as it pertains to restaurants, has primarily been driven by the quality of the food...until today. Don't get me wrong, the food was great and the portions generous. But that's not the primary impetus for the review. My wife happened to find out about Wings Cafe through a friend of ours (shout-out Sheri). We just so happened to be in the area and my wife, having a memory like an elephant (mostly concerning things I've done wrong) recalled hearing about it. Off we went. It was a little difficult finding it, as it's on the far end of the Brookhaven Airport building. You'll need to spot the Wings Cafe sign, pictured below. Once you're looking for it, it'll probably be more obvious than it was to me, surprising...given my job. Anyway, we walked in and were instantly transported to the 50s with their themed decor, music playlist, and old style diner layout. There's an old map of Long Island that takes up the better part of the back diner wall and airplane and pilot memorabilia about the entire restaurant. It's located adjacent to the runway too, so my son and I got a kick out of watching all the planes take off and land. The staff was overly friendly and welcoming and made us feel like regulars. Service was swift and attentive. During our meal we were checked in on several times by the owner, Joe, who didn't introduce himself as such until I asked. He then introduced us to his wife, Lisa, equally as pleasant and welcoming. Even the chef wandered on over to check in on our little guys, making sure my 9-year-old was content with everything. They even provided him with a toy styrofoam airplane to assemble and fly, and offered ones to my wife and I to boot as first timers at the cafe. Joe provided us with the history of the restaurant and his prior business endeavors as well as offered up more information on happenings around their place. They have live music on the weekends and if you're lucky enough the parachuters landing pad is located right outside the restaurant where you may catch a glimpse of some patrons "dropping in". Get it? Dropping in? I crack myself up. If there's something on the menu you don't see, ask if you can order it. The waitress said if they have the ingredients, they'll make it! Plus you get complimentary mini cinnamon rolls as an appetizer. Anyway, even if you live outside the immediate area, for all the reasons mentioned, on top of the quality food and service, check out this place. I rarely base my recommendations on an establishment on the ownership or staff, but Joe, Lisa and his staff deserve to become famous. And, if you're a Foodie cardholder, you're golden...they're on there too. Now stop in and spread the word. Let's get these people the recognition they deserve!

I have wanted to try this spot and so happy I did! We live close to MacArthur where I would normally bring the kids to watch planes but this takes the cake. Inside it's a classic airplane-themed diner with breakfast and lunch menus. We opted to sit outside on the picnic benches to see the planes better and enjoy the weather. Everyone was so friendly and the food was perfect. Can't wait to come back again!

As you can tell from my other reviews I don't usually leave reviews unless it's exceptional. This place was great, down to the lettuce. Everything was perfect, I am a super picky eater & I have to say I was impressed. Chicken had NO questionable bitesthis is real food.

    Lisa...so nice!

You dont need a plane to dine in at Wings Cafe....a car will do! Again visited this local airport venue to have breakfast. Was a rainy day so not much in the way of take offs or landings at the airport. We meandered in and were greeted by Lisa, the co-owner with her hubby and chef Joe. This place is such a departure from your standard diner or bkfst/lunch spots. Its open till 3pm so rev up your engines and make your way to Wings Cafe.,,, Not a large menu but everything they serve is delish and plentiful. In the Summer you can watch skydivers landing on the airport property...lots of fun and kids will luv it. I am raising my rating to 5 Stars as this place is Great for what it is and your not likely to find another place like it !

Fabulous place. A one off. The pancakes are the size of dinner plates, and delicious. The coffee is great, the quirkiness priceless. Friendly, an overall delight.

We were seated at 8pm, but she seemed to forgot about us, becasue the table was opened the whole time we were there. We started off with the appetizer sampler which was 5 wings, 2 clam cakes, and 2 potato skins. The appitizer was good, the wings were a bit dry. We also got the shrimp tostada, meatball, and burger as out main dishes. The shrimp tostada was disgusting. It was a fried flour tortilla served with wilted lettuce and shrimp drowned in mayo. It was basically unedible. The meatball was okay, it was not what we expected though. It was a giant meatball served with a huge piece of butter in between it. The burger was the only thing that was great. It was cooked medium rare, and was huge. The fries were soft. We would not come here again. If you happen to come here, get the burger or pastas they lookd good. Stay away from the shrimp tostada.

The vibe was friendly and inclusive, which made for a really enjoyable night. The parking lot is huge, though it still struggled to fit everyone--this place clearly draws a crowd. There were lots of motorcycles, which added to the cool, slightly rugged scene. The bar itself has a large back patio, several rooms inside, and a spacious main bar that wraps around three sides. Seating is plentiful and well laid out. There was a pool table that got a lot of use--make sure to bring quarters if you want to play. We also caught a live band playing that night and they were fantastic, though the volume was a bit overwhelming at times. Still, the energy was great, and the music was a big plus. The bartender, Donna (I think that was her name), was friendly and attentive. I only had a drink, so I'm not sure if they serve food--I'll have to check on that next time. It's also worth noting they offer free Wi-Fi and have several large TVs, which was a nice bonus. My coworkers, who had already been here a few times, all seemed to enjoy themselves again. One thing I always pay attention to is lighting, and Frogzz hit the mark: not too bright, not too dim--just right for a relaxed night out. And yes, true to the name, there's frog-themed decor everywhere--fun, quirky, and definitely part of the charm. All in all, a thumbs up. I'd come back with friends. The overall automosphere seems geared more toward an older crowd. However, it's still chill and easy to enjoy at any age.

Long story, short the stars finally aligned and I found myself at the trailer, with an appetite when it was open. I'm glad that this finally worked out. I went with the Rajun Cajun. Good quality burger I suspect weighing in somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of a pound. Well seasoned and not too salty. Cooked to a perfect medium so it was good and juicy. I normally do not favor potato rolls but these was good soft bun that other buns should envy. The whole thing with the lettuce and tomato was packed in a clam-shell and even with the 7 minute drive home didn't turn into a soggy mess. While Scheduling may be a bit of a challenge, you can bet I'll be back when the stars once again align.
