Located about a half block from the Tybee Island fishing pier, this bar is a in a very convenient location with great prices for its bar food. It seems to be loved by the locals, as the host welcomed everyone by name as they entered. I ordered the Friday lunch special of fried flounder along with my two side item choices of french fries and potato salad. The special also included Texas toast and sweet tea for fewer than nine dollars. A great deal in my opinion. There is also a full menu available if you prefer. The food arrived approximately ten minutes later and was hot and tasty. I would rank the lunch special in my top two spots as far as bar good in concerned. The host was very attentive and I made new friends while I was there. I enjoyed the atmosphere and food and will return soon.

Tybee Island, Georgia --- "Wind Rose Cafe" is a winner of "best lunch" award & their meat loaf special was okay ... mashed potatoes with picket of gravy was not hot (but not cold ), but the quantity of lima beans & mini meat loaf were quite filling ... PLUS the side of toasted bread was deviously crunchy & tasty ... only $8.25 the bartender was delightfully personable with the customers, whether at bar, ordering on the phone ir sitting at a table ... their sign apparently blew down in a storm, so you gotta know where it's located ... "Wind Rose" sponsors the annual "bartender olympics" each February ... Fried chicken with potato salad and rice & gravy (plus a sweet tea) and the delicious chicken tenders! All for around $16

I was skeptical to go in because of the mention of smoke in other reviews, but it wasn't too bad (only a few other people were in the bar though.) The bar tender was very friendly. We got our lunch to go and were pleasantly surprised. It was very reasonably priced and better than we expected. The fried chicken was a bit dry, but it was very crispy. The chicken tenders were amazing!

Like this place a lot. Only five beers on tap including Fat Tire and Sam Adams Seasonal. Served in ice cold mugs. Decor is definitely dive bar. Bar has about sixteen stools. Three four tops, three six tops with mismatched table covers. Good burgers - cooked as ordered, good commercial grade fries - also cooked properly, excellent homemade potato salad. Plus it's cheap. Two burgers and three beers came to under $25. Service was fast and friendly. Worth a try.

The best Shrimp Gumbo - hands down!!! Situated along the Tybee Island Strip, tucked in between the tourist shops.

We stopped by Salt Island based on a Yelp review…read more Salt Island is a cottage a couple of blocks off the Tybee beach. No pretense. Super casual. Excellent food and beer. The evening's band was getting set up when we arrived. The food was great. Leila, our waiter, could not have been more helpful. We had a huge fried snapper, a plate of tortillas, a plate with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and grated cheese, and one bowl each of salsa picante and grated Mexican cheese. And we enjoyed it throughly. For dessert excellent tiramisu. We were expecting run of the mill fish and chips. What we found was an excellent casual restaurant.

Because this was their first time in Savannah, we couldn't let them leave without a visit to the beach. Although the day was a bit overcast and windy, it was still a nice afternoon and we decided to grab some local fare before heading back to Pooler. Salt Island is a small restaurant located right on the main strip as you turn into the seafront area. There is limited parking in and around the restaurant, but we were lucky because Sunday afternoon was fairly deserted. However, I would imagine that on a busy weekend you would likely need to find creative parking because a lot of the nearby parking seemed to be reserved for home and condominium owners. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating with a sizable bar and plenty of room to entertain larger groups. The menu is fairly simple but packed with a couple of really interesting items that you wouldn't technically expect to find in a beachfront fish house. And while we didn't order any of the more offbeat items, I have to say, seeing Chicken Tinga on the menu was a pleasant surprise. Especially since my in-laws are Mexican. Lol, I actually ordered the whole fried snapper tacos, which was essentially a whole fish fried to perfection but then accompanied with a bounty of authentic Mexican taco fixings including fresh tortillas, Cajita cheese, and fresh salsa and guacamole. The waiter promised I would be the envy of the table, and I was! This thing was so big. I ended up taking some of it home and eating it as a late night fish taco snack. The rest of the table ordered a combination of the fresh fish served any way you like it and the shell on shrimp boil. Both options were also fantastic. They also offer a variety of beers and have a fairly full bar so there's fun to be had here for everyone. Service was also really tight with our waiter making multiple trips to the table to make sure everybody was good. This is definitely a spot I would recommend if you are hanging out at the beach.

Don't let the outside fool you. It did me last year, but this year we went ahead and tried it…read more Sundae Cafe is wedged between a liquor store and a convenience store, this is apparently a thing on Tybee island. What you find inside is a nicely appointed restaurant with a beautiful long bar which we highly recommend you eat at. Our bartender Christy was amazing. But more about her later, right now I will talk about the food. We started with the margarita scallops, which was chunks of seared scallops soaked in margarita on toasted wonton chips with a black bean corn, salsa and drizzle with a local aioli, YUM! We also had their fried green tomatoes, which came with apricot horseradish sauce and aoli. Kiki had the catch of the day, which was a grilled piece of grouper atop mediterranean couscous and a medley of mediterranean vegetables. I had the prime rib, which came with lobster Chili Churri butter and a brandy peppercorn sauce. Both entrees were amazing. Now back to our bartender Christie. To say that she wears many hats is an understatement. She greeted us when we sat at the bar, by the way, did I mention that you can reserve seats at the bar? She described the menu items in a way that you only expect to find from a waiter in the finest restaurants in the world. She addressed any and all allergy issues relating to these dishes all the while she is making drinks for patrons at the bar as well as handling the service bar for all the patrons in the restaurant. Without missing a beat, she takes our order.Buses plates from other customers and continues to make drinks for everybody in the restaurant. At this point I think I told her her new nickname should be the Flash. At one point during our dinner, we saw her serve a bottle of wine to another couple at the end of the bar. Her presentation was that of a full wine sommelier with pouring a taste for approval while showing the label of the bottle as she waited for the customers approval then pouring the glasses after approval was given. List of hats: Bartender Bar Back Waiter Sommelier Entertainer Influencer to a new generation of food service, people on Tybee island. ( She babysat the owner of Bubba Gumbo's.) Lest I forget she is also the General Manager of the restaurant. She is someone that I would like to call friend after meeting her once and eating at her restaurant only once.
