Located about a half block from the Tybee Island fishing pier, this bar is a in a very convenient location with great prices for its bar food. It seems to be loved by the locals, as the host welcomed everyone by name as they entered. I ordered the Friday lunch special of fried flounder along with my two side item choices of french fries and potato salad. The special also included Texas toast and sweet tea for fewer than nine dollars. A great deal in my opinion. There is also a full menu available if you prefer. The food arrived approximately ten minutes later and was hot and tasty. I would rank the lunch special in my top two spots as far as bar good in concerned. The host was very attentive and I made new friends while I was there. I enjoyed the atmosphere and food and will return soon.

Tybee Island, Georgia --- "Wind Rose Cafe" is a winner of "best lunch" award & their meat loaf special was okay ... mashed potatoes with picket of gravy was not hot (but not cold ), but the quantity of lima beans & mini meat loaf were quite filling ... PLUS the side of toasted bread was deviously crunchy & tasty ... only $8.25 the bartender was delightfully personable with the customers, whether at bar, ordering on the phone ir sitting at a table ... their sign apparently blew down in a storm, so you gotta know where it's located ... "Wind Rose" sponsors the annual "bartender olympics" each February ... "Run-A-Way Bill" was here! bar 101 "666 Bars of 2017" day 012 "DUSA 2017" (Discover USA) #RunAwayBill #666BarsUSA #DUSA2017 03.06.17

Fried chicken with potato salad and rice & gravy (plus a sweet tea) and the delicious chicken tenders! All for around $16

I was skeptical to go in because of the mention of smoke in other reviews, but it wasn't too bad (only a few other people were in the bar though.) The bar tender was very friendly. We got our lunch to go and were pleasantly surprised. It was very reasonably priced and better than we expected. The fried chicken was a bit dry, but it was very crispy. The chicken tenders were amazing!

Like this place a lot. Only five beers on tap including Fat Tire and Sam Adams Seasonal. Served in ice cold mugs. Decor is definitely dive bar. Bar has about sixteen stools. Three four tops, three six tops with mismatched table covers. Good burgers - cooked as ordered, good commercial grade fries - also cooked properly, excellent homemade potato salad. Plus it's cheap. Two burgers and three beers came to under $25. Service was fast and friendly. Worth a try.

The best Shrimp Gumbo - hands down!!! Situated along the Tybee Island Strip, tucked in between the tourist shops.

Very good meatloaf on Monday. Chicken finger batter was crispy, but fell off after dipping.

Service was super friendly and attentive. Food was unbelievable! Best food we had in our entire trip. We had some corn, captains platter with blackened shrimp, salad, chowder, and mussels. Our toddler loved the mussels. He ate them all. All food was beyond great. I also had non alcoholic drinks which was very good! Definitely recommend.

Because this was their first time in Savannah, we couldn't let them leave without a visit to the beach. Although the day was a bit overcast and windy, it was still a nice afternoon and we decided to grab some local fare before heading back to Pooler. Salt Island is a small restaurant located right on the main strip as you turn into the seafront area. There is limited parking in and around the restaurant, but we were lucky because Sunday afternoon was fairly deserted. However, I would imagine that on a busy weekend you would likely need to find creative parking because a lot of the nearby parking seemed to be reserved for home and condominium owners. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating with a sizable bar and plenty of room to entertain larger groups. The menu is fairly simple but packed with a couple of really interesting items that you wouldn't technically expect to find in a beachfront fish house. And while we didn't order any of the more offbeat items, I have to say, seeing Chicken Tinga on the menu was a pleasant surprise. Especially since my in-laws are Mexican. Lol, I actually ordered the whole fried snapper tacos, which was essentially a whole fish fried to perfection but then accompanied with a bounty of authentic Mexican taco fixings including fresh tortillas, Cajita cheese, and fresh salsa and guacamole. The waiter promised I would be the envy of the table, and I was! This thing was so big. I ended up taking some of it home and eating it as a late night fish taco snack. The rest of the table ordered a combination of the fresh fish served any way you like it and the shell on shrimp boil. Both options were also fantastic. They also offer a variety of beers and have a fairly full bar so there's fun to be had here for everyone. Service was also really tight with our waiter making multiple trips to the table to make sure everybody was good. This is definitely a spot I would recommend if you are hanging out at the beach.

Got the smokehouse burger and fries, do not pass on the fries they were so so good. Burger was HUGE, flavor was amazing, the onion ring batter had such great seasoning. I'll be dreaming about it. All in all if you're staying on the island or close to please for the love of all things holy make this place a stop for dinner. Happy we wet early because we didn't make reservations!

I was a bit disappointed to be given a tiny two-top table as there were several other couples seated at 4-tops and enough other open tables when we arrived early for our reservation. The menu had some interesting items, but they were out of (or down to the last one) of a couple items. Plus there were a few added nightly specials on the blackboard. I was surprised that haddock was the fresh catch fish of the day as I'd always thought of it as a northern fish. They start you out with a couple biscuits and peach jam for the table. We decided to share an order of fried green tomatoes to start. There were 3 slices topped with dollops of creamy cheese on the plate. They were good. After that, I had a lobster tail along with a side of skillet potatoes. My husband had a crab cake appetizer. Both were just okay. He said there was a lot of filler (60/40) in the crab cake. For dessert, we shared a slice of lemon cake with lemon curd dressing. The waitress brought it to the table with a lit candle as it was my husband's birthday. The cake was very good. This had been touted as the best fine dining option on island. It was good -- with an innovative menu -- but not comparable to other cities' fine dining establishments. We were still glad that we came to try them.
