Over a 1 foot rip in my brand new comforter. Never been used/washed before.

What a terrible experience. I brought in a brand new comforter, never used before. It was an expensive brand lable comforter. On the tag it said gentle cycle and all. I notified them about the lable and said can you do this. They said, of course, we know how to do all comforters. When I picked up the comforter there was an over 1 foot rip in the comforter. I tried talking with the old lady that was helping me but she is so hard to understand and was blaming it on the manufacturer, that it was cheap quality. First off, it's not cheap quality. Secondly, she had the audacity to want to charge me for the service. I was blown away by how rude and dismissive she was and overall lack of accountability and desire to right a wrong. I am incredibly disappointed and dissatisfied with this place and could not recommend enough people not go there. Just a shameful experience on their part.

Kwan and her friendly staff - your bill would be $44 and she'd round it down to $40.

The "store" is an impossibly small outpost the size of a walk-in closet staffed by an odd Chinese man who has a tendency to mumble quite a bit. There are no signs. No fliers. They do not accept credit cards. Why would anyone bring their clothes to this cleaners, you ask....? Convenience, assuming you live within a few blocks of this address. This location is a satellite office but can still accommodate next day service. They do on-site alterations. This is the real convenience though--monthly billing. You can drop off your items and Grand Valet will leave your completed order locked up behind the security desk for pickup at your leisure 24x7. Cut a check at or around the end of the month for whatever you owe. No invoices sent out. No late fees if you forget to drop by. Strange but convenient. Frankly, I am surprised the store trusts people to come back and pay at the end of the month. They do not take any credit cards or deposit for extending 30 day terms--a rarity in a large urban environment. The actual cleaning service is very good. I tested them by not mentioning a few strategically-placed wine stains (oh okay...they were accidents) to see if they found and corrected them. In each test case they located the offending anomaly, corrected it, and informed me of what they had done. Recommended if you live within a few blocks of Grand Ave & Wells. Rating: 3/5 (Very good)

They previously ruined a suit too --it looks like hot pressed the lapel when it was wet. I use this place for basic mens button down shirts and pants, as it's a convenient location. I don't trust them with more. The buttons often get cracked as they don't provide much care to the pressing. But it's hard to find a dry cleaner who doesn't do that in Chicago. Most places (like this) send the stuff off-site and don't control this. I also go elsewhere for tailoring.

To begin, the first time I went I had lost the ticket they gave me which someone else picked up, and ended up stealing my clothes. They came in and paid for my dry cleaning and I lost $2,000 worth of clothes. After offering very little to make it up to me, Peter (store owner) offered to dry clean my sweater for free, and when I went to go pick it up, he informed me he lost my cashmere sweater. In all fairness, the first incident was more of a fluke, but the lack of willingness to make it right, along with losing the one thing I had asked for as a consolation results in me never going back.
