Caesar Salad

We had such a nice evening. We go out once a month with a group of friends, choosing a different restaurant every month. We showed up early and had happy hour in the bar, we were in the back corner for six. We later moved to the dining room. We all had something different and every dish was delicious. The service was swift and efficient.

Girl dinner was a success! 5 of us girls on a weekend in Palm Springs and decided to come here for dinner, we were able to snag last minute reservations. Every one of us left happy and full. Food was delicious and the servers were awesome!!! Nice restaurant and good atmosphere. Steaks were perfect and the ravioli appetizer was so good I didn't share lol! Thanks for making our girls night out a fun one!

Came for Happy Hour. It fills up quick, there was not a seat at 5:00. We got the last two seats at the bar. Lucky for us. Also lucky for us Denise was our server. She's 5* Extensive menu; we had olives, shepherds pie, tea, and an Old Fashion. We are big fans and will return for dinner and also the Broadway Bash.

We love Willie's Modern Fare, and had dinner here Saturday night. Food and service were great, and that's saying a lot since there were two large parties going on while we were there. The ambience here is lovely and refined, great for a romantic dinner. We loved our starters of the soup trio and the beet salad. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The beef stroganoff was fine - but I would prefer if the meat wasn't sliced so slimly. This restaurant is very conveniently located near our home, so we are regulars here. We highly recommend it.

Jessica our Server is Super Nice, Friendly and extremely knowledgeable. We came here for our 53rd Anniversary, picked the right restaurant in Palm Springs, especially with Restaurant Week going on, Her assistant Geraldo was Superb, always there when you needed water, place settings cleaned up, new utensils, etc. very impressed with his attention to detail.

I love Willie's. He does happy hour right. The bar fills up early but the last time we were there it was later I think we were the last customers. We ordered and got drinks. The house blanco is very nice. I had the steak fritte rare and it was perfect. My friend had the fish and chips. Can't go wrong with fish and chips. We chatted with the beautiful bar tender and vowed to sit at the bar the next time we come. The full restaurant menu is available in the bar.

Craig's pre birthday dinner

A birthday night out isn't just about food; it's about the mood, service and small gestures that make the group remember the evening. Willie's Modern Fare at Rancho Mirage delivered everything I hoped for. Delicious food, cozy ambiance and exceptional service. The staff even brought a birthday card and a dessert with candle and greeted Craig a happy birthday. It was just beautiful. The great ambiance, service and small gestures indeed are perfect. The team offered an impeccable service. Kudos to Kevin, Dominique and Gail.

Friday evening at Willie's was quite busy. We sat in the Lounge area, a nicely furnished room with colorful modern art on the walls and a generally nice vibe. We ordered from the bar menu and had the Caesar Salad with fresh anchovies, (quite good) Onion Rings, Steak Fries, Brisket Burnt Ends, Wedge Salad, and Beef Tenderloin Tournedos. All were well prepared and good. By far, the best item was the Beef Tenderloin with a Blue Cheese Crust. This was perfectly prepared medium rare as requested. The house wine served, a Pinot Noir, was okay. It was an enjoyable meal! Service was good.

We decided to switch up and tried a new restaurant this trip. Valet guy was super nice even though we came in around back vs off the 111. The hostess brought us to our table, and said she would leave us with the cocktail and wine menus so we could enjoy a drink before ordering. We ordered cocktails and sat and waited and waited. The drinks came, and the waitress finally brought dinner menus. In the meantime, a bus boy brought us a little shopping bag of leftovers, even though it was obvious, we hadn't even eaten yet. Two people ordered the prime rib, one ordered the stroganoff, and the last person ordered the sole. The server took away the funny little charger plates, which served no purpose for anything, and brought out our salads. It took a while for the meals to be brought out, but they first brought two Prime ribs, a New York, and a short rib. We explained that the Prime ribs were correct but the New York and short rib were wrong. The server came back out, we explained the mistake and she had them fire the fish quickly. Meanwhile, the other meals made their way around the kitchen and back out to the dining room. The prime rib was lukewarm, and the gnocchi tasted like the little cast-iron pan, but was actually hot. The stroganoff did not have a lot of meat, and the noodles looked dried up. The fish was hot and was OK. The server comped a martini because of the wait, but it was a dirty martini with way too much olive juice, and not at all what was ordered. Error on the bill and they ended up charging me for both and crediting one. I suppose we could have told the server what was wrong but we just wanted to get out of there.

Dinner with friends who recommended Willies. With 6 of us at the table, we asked for a quiet table. They came through with flying colors - we were seated in a private room near the back of the restaurant. NICE!!! Jessica, our server, was in the room soon after we were seated. Very welcoming and very helpful, answering all our questions about the menu. My wife and I decided to share the wedge salad ($18) and the Chicken Ballotine ($34). Because we were sharing, they split the dishes in the kitchen. While presentation loses something when it is split in the kitchen, we really appreciated it because it made sharing easy. Each of the dishes were fantastic. One of our friends ordered the General Tso's Cauliflower as an appetizer. That dish was outstanding!!! When we return, I will definitely be getting that dish. Service was spectacular - more in line with a restaurant with prices twice as high.

THE AMBIANCE: Amazing hidden gem in the desert! This…read morerestaurant is located inside La Quinta Resort & Club, and the experience feels special from the moment you walk through the historic, tall arched wooden doors. The entrance lead you down a hallway toward the hostess stand, with couches, a bar and a piano being played to the left. To the right , you enter the main dining room. The space felt open, elegant, and immediately welcoming. Talk about fine dining at its best. The hostess was able to quickly seat our party of six, and our server immediately brought over the menus and filled our water glasses. THE FOOD: We started with the oysters , and they did not disappoint. They were served with a shallot mignonette which was vinegary in all the right ways. They were so good, that we ended up ordering a second round. For dinner, we all ordered the steak with mushrooms and broccoli. The steak was perfectly cooked, and every bite was bursting with flavor. Even the mushrooms and broccoli stood out. Everything was seasoned beautifully without overpowering the actual flavors of the vegetables. Even the bread was so good. It was served with three different butters. And dessert? Also top notch. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful dinner with friends. THE SERVICE: The service really added to the experience. Our server was attentive and took great care of us. The GM, Ray, also stopped by our table, and we ended up chatting and joking with him a bit. He was incredibly friendly and personable and made sure we were having a great experience. Between the setting, the food, the genuinely attentive service, this as one of those dinners where it all felt elevated. Definitely one of the many highlights of our stay at La Quinta Resort.

Morgan's in the Desert: Disappointment After Disappointment. $400 for Meh…read more After living in La Quinta for four years, we were ready to try Morgan's, as it's one of the last foodie restaurants in the Coachella valley that we haven't tried. We arrived early for our reservation, excited to grab a drink at the bar before dinner. Then we were told our table was already available... only to be seated at a dining table in the bar, off to the side, where apparently servers do not exist while staring at the back of the pianist and the barflies. The two bartenders were fantastic--especially Brian, who was working at warp speed--but they already had a packed bar to manage. Adding dining tables to their workload was clearly not realistic. Why were we seated there? Still a mystery. Reservation problems: I booked through the QR code advertised in The Gem for the August prix fixe dinners at La Quinta Resort's restaurants. When we arrived, we were told the prix fixe menu wasn't available that day. Sorry! So we ordered bread and oysters instead. About 15-20 minutes later, the manager came over and said they would honor the prix fixe after all. Great! Except... we'd already ordered appetizers. ‍ And wow, was it SLOW. We were seated at 5:30 and still didn't have our entrées at 7:00. Drinks regularly sat empty, and once the restaurant got busy around 6:30, water refills disappeared completely. Did I mention it was 110 degrees outside? The food? A mixed bag--but overall, wildly overpriced and underwhelming. * Oysters: Ice-cold and served with a good mignonette. Also pricey. * Bread: Fresh and warm, but the olive tapenade was aggressively salty. Again, overpriced. * Watermelon salad: The winner! Refreshing, flavorful, and the spicy nuts gave it a nice kick. Highly recommend. * Chicken cacciatore: Dry chicken, undercooked tomatoes, overcooked pasta. Never again. * Oscar filet: Delicious and well-prepared, but nothing memorable or special--especially for the price. Bottom line: We spent about $400 for a frustrating, painfully slow, mostly mediocre meal. There are too many great restaurants in the area to spend that kind of money on "meh." We won't be back.

It's a nice restaurant with an attached bar area that had a DJ and was very lively on a Friday night. We chose to dine in the restaurant portion, where the atmosphere was a little more conducive to dinner and the service was good. I had the Chicken Piccata ($38) and thought it was very good. It was flavorful, the serving size was fair, and I felt the price was reasonable for the quality and the restaurant. Others at our table had the Pacific Sole Piccata ($46), and there were several appetizers and salads available in the $19-$38 range. My one disappointment was the cocktail pricing. Many of the drinks start around $19 and can go all the way up to approximately $45. I had a martini that tasted fine, but it was surprisingly small for the price. At those prices, I expected a more generously sized cocktail. Other than the drinks being overpriced in my opinion, I enjoyed the experience. The food was good, the service was solid, and the lively bar and DJ give the place a fun energy if you're looking for more than just dinner. Overall, a solid four-star first visit. I ordered the chicken piccata and honestly, it was the best I've ever had. The best part of the night was having everyone together. My niece's boyfriend was visiting from Ireland, and we laughed and danced all night. I especially loved seeing my sister-in-law out on the dance floor and having so much fun. It was one of those nights where people of all ages were dancing, laughing, and just enjoying being together. We had such a great time that they went back again the very next night. The live music was fantastic, and it was great seeing Nick on saxophone. The crowd was a fun mix, the energy was high, and the whole place just felt happy. A coworker recently went during Restaurant Week and couldn't stop talking about the steak, the generous portions, and the peanut butter pie. The Nest has been a desert favorite for years, and there's a reason. It's always nice to see Dodi there and how much pride she takes in the restaurant. Most people think of The Nest for the music and dancing, but don't miss the food. It really is that good! One tip: go early or make a dinner reservation so you don't end up waiting in line. The Nest is still one of the most fun places in the desert!
