Unfortunately I cannot recommend this Williams Sonoma location at all. My fiancée and I are big fans of the San Francisco location, but the customer service here is drastically different. We walked around the store for several minutes as the only customers, with at least three sales associates working, and were not greeted at all. I was honestly shocked at how blatantly we were ignored. The associates all huddled in the checkout area talking and barely looked up as more customers eventually came in. I have had positive experiences every time I place orders with WS. I recently ordered personalized gingerbread houses for 5-6 ppl. They arrived in perfect condition. Pic below was one that I ordered for myself. I also ordered gingerbread cookie kits for my grown kids bc they made this a tradition. Not the first time I've had a bad experience here but this one was frustrating enough to leave a review. My boyfriend purchased me a Kitchenaid Mixer online for Christmas while it was on a promotional sale. He got the silver color and I wanted to exchange for the black. I went in to the store to do the exchange and they told me it would be no problem. Then they realized the promotion was no longer running and they said I would have to pay the difference in price which was about $150 more. Which makes no sense because no store would ever make you pay the difference for an even exchange. I was getting the same item but a different color. They refused to do the exchange so I ended up fully returning the kitchenaid and I will be purchasing from somewhere else. I tried to return or exchange an All Clad griddle I purchased here. The griddle which is a large rectangular shape. It had become warped and not flat. The store manager was of absolutely no help. No exchange was offered for an item they currently sell. And was told return is only for 30 days with receipt. For a high end quality home goods store this is pathetic . I bought a set of two GreenPans (Tucci) in January; the non stick started sticking in February. I finally had some time to visit last month with my receipt. They won't take the return, saying they have a 30 day return policy. Would you buy a pan that only lasted 30 days? They'll never take a pan that malfunctions back; all the pan has to do is last longer than a month and they could care less about your defunct product; oh yeah and they get to keep your money from that expensive purchase. I brought the pans in about 6 months after purchase, but honestly, pans are supposed to last years, not months! Would you buy a pan that only lasts a couple months, a few months, just 1 year, 30 days? No freaking way! I've cooked and baked for about 38-40 years; I know how to properly care for pans. You could improve your business by taking my return of a defective pan. If you take my defective product back, I'll take down this post. I purchased a Scarpato Panettone and was so disappointed, the quality of the product has changed dramatically this year instead of whole chestnuts that were once bountiful has now been reduced to small pieces that are barley recognizable the raisins are more prominent now. We had time to kill, and it was trying to rain outside. We walked into Williams-Sonoma to look at new toys. We had an associate greet us and ask if we needed any assistance. I joked with her, telling her that we needed our kitchen counters extended so we could put more appliances on it. It was friendly banter and when she realized that we were okay, she moved on. The store is clean and organized. Toys galore. There were a few that looked like fun, but alas, we have a fully stocked kitchen with no more space for toys. read more

I bought my husband a set of measuring cups for $57 here, but they were not what he wanted. We had the receipt, plastic and the box, but the assistant manager said she couldn't return it b/c she said it had been used (they absolutely had not been used). I asked to speak to the manager and she said the manager had just stepped out (she had literally just gone to the back to talk to her). We took them to a different store the next day and they returned it with a smile, no problem. I came when the store opened to pick up an online order purchased. I'm the only customer in the store with 2 customer associates at the counter. One is stocking the counter and the other on the phone . I go to the stocking associate and ask about my order pick up. She sends me to the other associate who is on the phone who ignores me. Finally the other associate who is stocking the counter comes over to help me. I give her my name and she heads to the back. She comes out rudely telling me I must wait for email confirmation before picking up my order. I show her my email confirmation and then if course my item is ready. She brings it out and it's a good size item so I request a bag so I can do some more shopping in the store. She rudely tells me that's 10 cents. I've picked up orders everywhere and never before not had it in a bag! Unfortunately I needed to return to my car as I was unable to continue to shop with this bulky item. These associates should have a crash course in customer service. A store like this with lovely overpriced items should at least have reasonable service. so I've been a long time customer of Williams-Sonoma in Walnut Creek and William Sonoma for a very long time. I purchased a tablecloth in January and found that I had a double that had been unopened. The tablecloth I was attempting to return was in the original package with no labels or attachments removed. I walked into the store and this woman at the counter was too busy to help me which is OK she was another but she just kept going on and on with other people. She asked me if I had the receipt and I said no it's on my Williams Sonoma card and she rolled her eyes up and was irritated. Another woman came up and asked me if she could help me and I said yes I have a return and she was somewhat snooty and did not even want to look it up on my Williams Sonoma card. She looked at me and said well if this was purchased over 30 days ago, we have no return policy. I replied with the comment that since you got rid of some of your good has gone to hell in a handbasket. I will not be shopping at further and I will be letting my card just go and not renew it or use it. And walked out of the store. William Sonoma used to be known for its customer service however, over the past two years it has gone way downhill.. I did manage to shop at the Palo Alto store because I was on a business venture down there and the customer service was beyond amazing. Walnut Creek is not all that it's cracked up to be and the staff are not very knowledgeable about their appliances, cookware or any other purchases that I may have made in the past. I find them very and they have nothing to be none of us should be that way to other people. I may have come in a pair of clean sweatpants and a nice T-shirt and a jacket and tennis shoes. Rude sales associate. I wanted to purchase a specific All-Clad pot. Checked online for this specific store. Said it was available for p/u, so clearly it was in stock. Online, the pot was also "on sale". Went directly to the store to purchase. As I picked up the pot, the lid accidentally slid off & landed on the floor.....Of course making a loud clatter. Sales Assoc. came running over, asking if I needed help in a most irritated manner. I told her I wanted to purchase the pot. "We'll, I'll have to check. I'm not sure we have it stock." When I told her that I had checked online, & it indicated that the pot was in stock, she replied, " Just because it's in stock online, doesn't mean it's in stock in the store. That's why you should always call before coming in." Excuse me? A-How would I know that I should call the store? B-What good is it to check online if the online inventory doesn't match the store inventory? C- Why do you have to be so pompous about? Low & behold, the Sales Assoc returned to the register w/the pot. But she didn't tell me the price. I asked her if it was on sale in the store, b/c it's on sale online. Again, she arrogantly responded, "It is NOT on sale." So I asked her the price, which she still had not stated. She replied w/the the price, which was the exact same sales price listed! You need to be careful trusting Williams Sonoma. While I certainly understand limiting returns. So called hi class stores need to be willing to accept returns in a reasonable amount of time. I have spent thousands there over the years - but no more. Businesses like this don't understand why they are having sales issues - this is why. The return policy from Target is better than this. I went to pick up my online order after receiving email confirmation that it was ready for pick up. When I arrived, I was told that they didn't have the order, even though the product was on their front desk, staring at me. I asked them if the product on the desk was mine, and they told me it was reserved for an "unpaid customer." Well, I paid, and they sent me an email to come pick it up, so I don't really know why they would prioritize an "unpaid customer" over a customer who has already paid. They told me the product was reserved until the end of the day (8pm). After a half an hour long back and forth, it was 7:58 pm, and they still made me wait the remaining 2 minutes. I inquired about adjusting the price of the set I just bought 2 days ago at 20% off. The lady at the desk was going to do it but the manager came by and took a look at what was going on. First he denied there was a sign there. He insisted that if there was a sign, it would be 20% off. Then he goes and looks at the sign and says, "uh, yeah you are right." The product we wanted to buy was available but the store associate was not even tried to help ! Really disappointed in this store. My wife and I have done a lot of business here over the years, but over the last year or so the customer service and quality of products has really gone downhill. About a year ago I purchased a Breville automatic expresso machine; Oracle Touch. I purchased on the Williams Sonoma website for store pick-up. I get to the store and the ladies working there say something on the lines of wishing I purchased it directly through them in the store because the store will get credit for the sale and in today's times they really need it. I feel bad so say go ahead and return my purchase and let's rering so you all get credit. They were very appreciative, but the process took a long time. I get the machine home and find the machine is damaged. Its got dents and scratches and few other problems. I call the store and they apologize and tell me to come back in so they can order another and have delivered to my house. I'm not close to the store, but its the closet one too me. So I do the drive go through the lengthy process and wait a couple weeks for a new one to come. Wouldn't believe it the next one is damaged as well. Box all beat up and machine dented and scratched. So I go through the process all over again. I couldn't believe I had to drag it down to the store all over again. It happens AGAIN! Finally on the fourth attempt I get one that's in good condition and works well. To this day its our favorite machine and by far better then Jura's that we've owned. This week I purchased an Ooni Koda 16 on their website and again for pickup in the store. I didn't want to fuss around with purchase in the store because of how long it takes. I want to go to there pickup leave. I get a phone call right before leaving and they tell me their system is down so they have to cancel my order and then I have to come into the store so they can ring one up for me. Wait, so the system is down but yet you can cancel my order then ring up a new one. Makes no sense but whatever I do what they say. Of course again it takes awhile to get the whole thing rang up and on my way. I get it home and the pizza oven is garbage. I can't believe for how much it cost how badly it worked. Flames kept going out, oven wouldn't get over 700 degrees, and few other problems. So I clean it all up and take it back today. I drive my truck into the garage to their back door since I'm familiar with their process to bring large packages through that area, plus I need help since I recently had back surgery and can't lift things over certain weight. I knock and knock on the door and ring the bell and no one responds. I call the store and Debra answers. She asks me why I'm at the back door, rudely, and I tell her the details. She then shortly and rudely responds with a number of questions. Christ just open the door and give me a dolly so I can bring it in or help me. She comes out with attitude then opens the box while my truck is parked in the 5 min drop of parking space and asks more questions. Then she's like fine I'll bring it inside and you have to go around and come through front entrance. At this point my wife and I are extremely frustrated with how she treated us and now we have to wait about 30 mins to get help to do the return. Brenda the GM greeted us and seemed very friendly. She kept apologizing for the wait. She ends up helping us with the return. Again a number of questions, same Brenda already asked, about the return. She then disappears to the back room for awhile and comes back saying she had to check that everything there. She starts processing it but has a number of issues with the computer. I had also purchased the Ooni pizza wheel that goes with the oven and she lets me know I can't return that because its used. Wait, what? There's been items we've used and return there previously with no questions. I had even read the return policy on my receipt and no where on there does it say no returns for used items. It actually specifically lists out items/reasons for no returns and none of those were for used items. I read part of the policy to her since she tells me it says it in our policy. She seemed surprised that yup it doesn't say that anywhere in the policy. I start to get upset because at this point my back is screaming, we are frustrated the oven didn't work right and how Debra treated us then how long we had to wait. I had also asked for the number for the district or regional manager as I've worked for a number of years in retail and if I was the RM/DM I would not have wanted any of my customers to go through this experience. We ordered very expensive (over $7600) outdoor teak furniture set from WS which turned moldy and green/black months after delivery, in CA where it hardly ever rains. We have other teak furniture from other companies which have lasted a lot longer without turning moldy. We replaced the furniture once, but the replacement has the same fate of turning moldy within a few months. So we asked for a refund. WS picked up our furniture 3 months ago for the refund, but has yet to give our money back. So they've effectively stolen from us. We've contacted them a dozen times, and are always given the runaround, with an answer that our refund will be processed within 3-5 business days. This is a crooked company in a fancy disguise with overpriced junk. I just hope I can get my refund before they go out of business... read more

I absolutely love Williams-Sonoma. I could spend hours in their stores quite easily. Well, maybe not hours, but pretty darn close. They always have the most wonderful gadgets that make me feel quite domestic. My newest wants include the gorgeous raspberry colored Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer. Not only is it pretty and pink, but a portion of the proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen foundation for breast cancer research. That in itself is reason to purchase one of these mixers. My second drool-worthy gadget is the Breville Mini Pie Maker. I love desserts and I love things that are in miniature. Put those two together, and what's not to love! Mini pies are some of the cutest desserts ever. Not only can you make pies for dessert, but you can also make savory pies and quiches. Cute and practical! Despite all of the wonderful new kitchen toys, I have another reason for updating my review. When I entered this particular WS today, I couldn't help but notice an elderly woman who had difficulty walking and even standing upright. I happened to see a scooter just outside the front door with a little basket filled with plastic bags. I can only assume it belonged to her. Anyway, this poor lady was not well dressed and even had an unpleasant odor. I started to wonder if she was homeless. To my surprise, the sales associate could not have been more kind and helpful to this woman. She went to print out some information on an item the woman expressed interested. Not once did she speak in a condescending manner or treat the woman poorly. She was respectful, polite and courteous. It warmed my heart. While I purchase items from Williams-Sonoma quite often, I will definitely make it a point to do business at this particular location given what I witnessed today. read more

I placed an order online (for instant pot)to be picked up in-store at Walnut Creek. After a day I receive an email informing order has been canceled. There was no redress to get the item to me immediately. Wish they had placed a free same day delivery to me address. Or gave me options for redress. However they simply instructed me to go online and order again if I needed it. It was meant to a gift and Williams Sonoma had nothing to do with helping me out. I was on my own to figure out, they were not bothered about canceling their order either. Their customer service was not able to take complaints and gave me a store complaint number to call. Their store complaints automated answering system does not inform callers if they are closed but simply puts you on hold. I ended up waiting in vain. I tried to purchase a wedding gift but it wasn't obvious to select gift wrap or card enclosure but it was obvious on how to pay for the item. Unfortunately, the purchase went through, and it took over 30 minutes to learn that the only way to add a card and gift wrap was to cancel the order. The customer service lady asked if I could wait, and then they play blaring music while I was on hold. Then the lady said that she would retake my order and walk me through the system. I mentioned that I was going to pay through pay pal, and she said that she could only take credit cards. I just said that I'll shop someplace else. This company needs to do some major UI revisions. They have nice things here but not a lot of variety. They don't have all that much in stock either. If there's something you would like that they don't have in the store they will order it online for you. Prices are high and there just isn't a lot to choose from. There is nothing that makes this store stand out from other kitchen stores. They have their own line of foods but I think you can get better stuff at the deli. read more
