My last dentist, it took weeks just for them to then turn around and have to seek approval from the insurance a second time because designing the crown took so long. I cannot overstate how nice it was to just get it all done in one vist. Both doctor Lee and Haelee were friendly, included me in their conversation even when I could only respond with a thumbs up and they even went the extra mile of getting rid of calsification even though it wasn't originally in the plan. If you are looking for a Dentist, I highly recommend McKenzie Dental Center. Their hours are flexible, when I say I need an appointment while my kids are in school, they make sure to find something that works for me and I never have to wait long for anything.

Last year I went in for an exam but it had been a few years since my previous cleaning and my teeth were in rough shape. The dentist wanted to remove 7 of my teeth! I was shocked and declined the removal. Instead I sought out other alternatives. I had each quadrant of my mouth "scaled" - a deep cleaning procedure that I've had done before. Then I got a water pic and started to up my daily maintenance. When I went back for my 6 month exam this year I received high praise on how good my teeth were and nobody said a thing about those 7 teeth still needing to be removed. Thanks to MYSELF I managed to save and retain all of my teeth! Then, just recently I started experiencing some pain in my gums. It felt like one of my wisdom teeth was trying to grow sideways out of my gums. After a week it hadn't really gotten better so I scheduled a short appointment just to have it checked out. The hygienist took an x-ray and then the dentist came in. He took a quick look and told me that it's not infected, just a small cut in my gums most likely from eating something sharp. He said it's healing fine and I don't need antibiotics. He then shocked me when he said "I recommend removing the wisdom tooth." Then the next thing I knew he was numbing my gums and preparing a shot. That's when I freaked out!!! I was on my lunch break and told him I needed to get back to work. The hygienist said "oh that's fine, you can go back to work." These people clearly do not get to know their patients. First of all, I immediately started to sweat and shake and panic and felt light-headed. I had so many questions, and even if I did decide to have my tooth removed I would need anxiety medication beforehand, someone to accompany me AND to drive me home afterwards, pre-purchased foods at home to eat while my gums healed, and definitely time off from work! I'm also a smoker, so knowing that I wouldn't be able to smoke after having a tooth removed I would need to mentally prepare and plan ahead for that. These people are so quick to jump to "we need to remove your teeth!" Beware! They didn't give me any time to think, just react, and my reaction was to leave. Perhaps if they had sat down calmly and gave me some information to help me understand WHY they thought the tooth should come out then I could at least understand my options, but I was aghast when they didn't even give me any post-surgery instructions beforehand, what to expect, etc. They didn't even give me any time to register what was about to happen. If you have dental anxiety like I do I DO NOT recommend this place. I DO however recommend taking their advice with a grain of salt, stand up for yourself and don't let them pressure you into unnecessary tooth extractions!

Initial phone conversation was very pleasant. Receptionist was well informed regarding my insurance and even though I was "out of network" she took the time to help me learn my coverage here. Arrival was easy, parking was ample and easily accessed. Office was modern and welcoming. I was greeted immediately and even offered a fancy beverage while I waited. My wait time was short and light music played overhead. I was offered a fancy beverage during my short wait, I love when offices do that! Nice touch! Very classy. Staff was super welcoming, and a well mannered Frenchie dog keeps tabs on dentist dad in between patents. Uniforms are sharp and the staff gave a good vibe. Top compliments to my RDA, who was incredibly gentle with me. I was very scared and had some very tender spots after 7yrs away from dental care. Gentle, quick, thorough, kind, professional, reasonable prices, And lots of services offered here! I will be taking my daughter here and paying out of pocket for her cleaning. My husband needed planing for his teeth, which would not have occurred with proper professional cleaning. 2. Dr. Binder had diagnosed my tooth pain with a treatment plan costing several thousand dollars. The new dentist said the crown was simply not filed down to my proper bite( which dr Binder had placed) 3. NOW, I have bone loss on another tooth because tooth had not been properly cleaned for a few years. 4. Billing was never done properly, as we frequently had to pay more than original charges. Other folks also, as the front desk was often calling other patients they had to pay more.

And (as a recent transplant from Los Angeles), his pricing is really not that crazy at all. So, if you are sold in his method of practicing, you wait until you visit. The staff are incredibly friendly, you are made to feel super welcome. When you are in the chair, everything Is explained to you in words you can understand AND they go out of their way to ensure you are comfortable. The facilities are super clean and spotless. (I have seen some awful dental practices in my time) and finally, when you are all done and ready to leave, I was offered the carnation in the picture. They mentioned that they always have room for their clients. My takeaways: Their prices are extremely high, double and triple the going rates. Insurance generally not accepted or rather insurance won't pay because of their exorbitant rates. They are very aggressive and pushy. They are not as accommodating as they claim to be. They use the terms holistic and wellness in their description, which is attractive to those of us looking for what would be a more natural approach, but they are inauthentic when it comes to what you really need. Requested an afternoon appointment in a month explaining that I live out of town and afternoon works best. I needed dentist appointment as well as dental hygienist. Unable to schedule both on the same day. Fine with me. So, mind you. I am new to them and yet, a few weeks later, they call me recalling I live out of town and they can now schedule both appointments in the afternoon on the same day. WOW! That was my first clue that I had chosen the right place. So, my appointment. I first meet with an assistant who takes great notes and is very friendly as well as warm. Then a full head of X-rays plus photos. Done very gently with care and concern for my comfort. (Did I say what a dental phobic person I am?) Then, dentist time. Dr. Umberger listened to the assistant's summary of me and my mouth. He also showed respect, consideration and great listening skills. He actually looked in my mouth, probed a bit and we made plans for my future dental care. The hygienist was gentle, knowledgeable and kind. Now for the next time, a filling replacement. That's a final test for all of us!
