Dr. Umberger was serving the Florence, OR community, that's when husband and I first met him. When he separated from his partner we decided the 3-hr round trip was worth the amazing service. My husband, since passed away, had super complex dental issues. Dr. Umberger consulted at length with all the upstream and downstream pros who would work on his implants and dental surgeries. I had a crown issue that was still from his old partner in Florence, and Dr. U decided to give me "warranty service" to honor his previous partnership. (Ever heard of that with a doctor????) -- I must have five crowns Dr. U installed. His office has some of the latest techno gizmos, that make the dentist's unpleasant work a breeze: he scans the surface of the old tooth the design the crown, which he then cooks in the magic crown-making machine in the back. Last Nov. I moved to California. During last week's visit I busted a 20-year old crown and the office rearranged their schedule to work on my achy tooth, create a crown and install it, all in one afternoon. In the downtime, while the thing "baked," one of the AMAZING hygienists cleaned my teeth. NEVER in all the years have I felt as if they "added on" or made us get any treatment at all that wasn't necessary. Never have I felt anything but treated like their most important patient. During our frequent visits we often ran into neighbors from Florence, who ALSO chose to make a long trip to visit this dentist. I am flabbergasted by that woman's nasty comment. It seems totally inconceivable that anyone would ever have a negative experience at this modern, peaceful and super-professional practice. I am not related to anyone who works there; and since I no longer live in OR I have nothing to gain by writing this review. After my crowning experience the other day I decided to Yelp the guy, and I am abhorred by the non-substantiated negative review. She must be a difficult person. Seriously. Of all the dental practices I've visited, this is simply my favorite. The atmosphere is very relaxing: they play light zen sort of music and offer a warm neck pillow when you go in for a 6-month cleaning. But it isn't over-the-top new age or anything, they're professional and very clean. I've learned a lot from their staff, too. At my initial consultation, I was brought into an office with a dental assistant who asked all sorts of questions about my dental health from when I was a child until today. I remember one of the last questions was about what my goals are for my oral health in the future. That was definitely a first -- I don't think any other dentist has done that. The hygienists I've seen are also go out of their way to explain what they're doing and seem very knowledgeable. There are plenty of other "little things" that the practice has to offer. They washroom is stocked with clean toothbrushes and toothpaste, in case you've forgotten to brush before your appointment. And, on Valentine's Day, there was a big plate of fresh sugar cookies. "All things in moderation." Hopefully there wasn't a hidden motive there. :-P Overall, great experience. I was recommended to Dr. Umberger by a co-worker after searching around town for for a dentist that I felt comfortable with several years. Dr. Umberger is a very gentle dentist-both in manner and during procedures (I've had crowns, cavities, and an implant performed by him). He won't do work you won't need, discusses the work he thinks you need, and also provides alternatives to you. I also appreciate how he treats with respect-they all seem to enjoy working together. His assistants are equally caring and personable, and I've received follow-up calls after a procedure to ensure I was doing well. His office will also work with you in the event you can't pay so quickly-greatly appreciated! The atmosphere is also very relaxing (the lighting is nice, and they play soothing, light classical music). I don't know who Lee W. is, but he has never been a patient of Dr Umberger's. You only have to go to Dr Umberger's office once and you are made to feel right at home. HIs front staff is amazing and truly care about you as a whole person. They are friendly, courteous and professional. As for Dr Umberger, I think he's terrific and I am quite possibly the biggest dental wimp out there. He is gentle and puts you at ease with his great bedside manner. He is knowledgeable, listens to your concerns and discusses treatment options. I would and have recommended him to many of my friends and co-workers who have ended up loving his care and his staff as much as I do. read more

Dr. Umberger is a great dentist. He is always friendly and knowledgeable and takes his time to explain what is going on in terms that anyone can understand. There is never a wait time and the office is one of the nicest I have ever been in. The equipment and facilities are very up to date and clean. His staff is exceptional and always friendly and courteous. Lori, my hygenist is amazing and a pleasure to be around. She takes her time to explain what she is doing and keeps me comfortable at all times. She is the best!! I have been a patient of Dr. Umberger for almost six years now and I can't say enough good things about him and his staff. When I first started seeing him, I suffered from severe anxiety about visiting the dentist. I love going to Dr. Umberger and his staff each and every time I have an appointment. When I found out he was from the same area that I was, it was a great pleasure talking about the local sports scene and being able to relate to the same things. Dr. Umberger and his staff are friendly, concerned about your dental health and helpful. The office is modern and most things can be done right there with some amazing technology that they will show you if you're interested like the machine that made my crown. They always greet me with the utmost respect and are genuinely kind. They make a great effort to make you feel like you're more than just a patient. Best dentist! He has a wonderful team that tries their best to make you feel comfortable and help you make educated decisions. They're very informative and knowledgeable. I had a lot of jaw pain and they were able to reduce my pain, stabilize my bite and help prevent further breakdown in my jaw joint. They made me feel so much better. Recently I had an early morning emergency, broke a tooth and was in sooo much pain, I took a chance and called, hoping for some help. I was able to visit with Jen in the office @ 7:30 am!.
