While I have "cheated" in my dental care throughout my life, benefiting from minimal cavities, gum disease has no mercy. It plagues me constantly, and others like me. Turns out I didn't need a root canal, I needed my bite adjusted, which they did on the first visit. Dr Butler was great, very patient, explained what he saw on the Xray, talked over different things like do I grind my teeth (I don't think so), and eventually checked my bite. Which is where we found the issue. They took photos of the tooth and pulled them up on a screen, and talked through all of it clearly and without being condescending or dismissive. All equipment modern, up to date, chairs comfortable. Its a bit too cold, but I tend to expect that with dentists. I hate dentists. This one is not like the others. Highly recommend.

The hygienist finished the cleaning then asked if it was okay to update my X-rays. Normally I would say sure, but I hadn't planned on the extra time and really needed to get to work so I politely declined the X-rays (that I wasn't told about before appointment). The dentist then comes in and says he won't do the examine without X-rays and would only "allow" the cleaning (which had pretty much already been done anyway) as though he was bestowing a gift. He made me feel stupid and embarrassed. The hygienist ASKED me (gave me an OPTION) if I wanted to do X-rays. When I OPTED to say "No" they made me the bad person because what... I chose wrong? I don't like trick questions and they were basically blaming me for them not telling me before the appointment that they would need more time than usual to do X-rays. Like I said. I generally have liked this dentist, but the attitude I received this time really left a bad taste in my mouth. [Sorry... bad pun]

I would give this dentist zero stars, if that were possible…read more First of all, his practice has a series of dental chairs set up in a long row like a barbershop with no walls in between or privacy between patients whatsoever. Secondly, the dentist himself is borderline sadistic. The one time I went to see him, I was sitting in one of the chairs and he sort of snuck up behind me, sat down really close to me, and announced, "Hi! I'm Dave!" The next thing I knew as he went to examine my teeth, I suddenly felt a sharp pain because he poked me in my gum with a sharp instrument, unexpectedly, and caused my gum to bleed. He gave no explanation as to why he did this and no apology for causing me pain. I couldn't wait to get out of there. If you've ever seen the Steve Martin movie, "Little Shop of Horrors," you'll want to stay away from Dr. Lester.
