I had an extremely frustrating experience with Gentle Dental. I called to make an appointment and was initially offered one five months out, but when I hesitated, they suddenly found an opening the next morning at a different location. Throughout the day, I received multiple text reminders confirming my appointment. I showed up 15 minutes early as a new patient, only to hear them tell the person in front of me that his appointment didn't exist because the provider no longer worked there. Then it was my turn--same issue. They claimed they had made a mistake and never actually had an appointment slot. Their only solution? A half-hearted "someone should have called you" and an attempt to reschedule me 4-5 months later. If you value your time, go somewhere else. The front desk staff, Dr. Bergeson and Addie (sp?) were so awesome! I struck out at the first gentle dental I went to, with terrible tooth pain in tow, I went to this one and they squeezed me in for an initial visit and got me in within a week for an extraction. Dr. Bergeson totally understood my trepidation and didn't make me feel bad for my lack of prior dental care. Addie was great at distracting me. This place is just sad. I did indeed wait three hours to get seen (emergency appointment) only one doctor in that is working like on a belt. I didn't even get to say a sentence. The opinions and needs of patients are being overridden. I said clear more than once no amalgam filling and no temporary fix. Meanwhile he's trying to prepare be for a temporary fix and asked to be quiet since he's trying to prepare and keep the tooth dry. None of what I had concern about was addressed. Just like back then when they wanted to do X-rays when I was highly pregnant and I denied and they denied an exam overall based on my X-ray denial. (My teeth were fine I just wanted a exam and cleaning) This was my last experience today. And if you care about your dental health I'd invest in that and go to a better dentist and pay pit of pocket. It's worth it instead of letting them Ruin your smile. I'm sorry this is the healthcare that low income gets in this state. I hope it'll change for the better. You deserve it. And so do I and everyone that's to come. Oh I left without treatment and went to another dentist that was recommended and paid. Lovely experience! I am so happy about that decision. They cancelled my 11-9-23 appt without calling or notifying me, then they told me possibly may fit me in end of Jan beginning Feb next year. Don't know if the Dentist Peter Bergeson is a good one or not, apparently he didnt want to do my denture repairs. The original appt was set with Luis by phone and was only a 1 week wait to get the work done. Their website states this dentist Peter Bergeson at Gentle Dental Eugene is a specialist in this area. Clearly he is responsible for his staff & directed them to just blow off my appt & tell him maybe next year because he didn't want to do it. Very CS way to deal with customers. read more

Office staff is lacking! Called because my husband was in horrible pain after 5 minutes explaining was told they would get not to doctor, a week later no call back!! I had to call again, and again was told they could take a note! No apology for dropping the ball (again wonderful customer service) Then the cherry on top she says well the best I can do is take another message but it will be Atleast Tuesday of next week before we can call you back!! We really like our dentist but prefer not to be ignored while in pain for weeks on end, they made it obvious they could care less! It's about how many customers can we get in let's ignore the ones who have been bringing their whole family for years! Guess we will be looking for a new office for our family of 5, sad this place could have been great if they had invested in training their staff properly, poor management!! read more

I have been going to Gentle Dentle on River road for years and have always had a great experience, except for today. Maggie is usually the person that does my teeth cleaning and she is very friendly and does a great job. However, today I had someone else and they spent a total of 15 minutes cleaning my teeth and didn't even have the dentist come look at my teeth before I left. When I asked if the dentist was going to look at my teeth, the person cleaning my teeth just said that he's busy seeing other patient. The person that cleaned my teeth wasn't very friendly and just rushed me out so they could go home early. And Jaclyn at the front desk wasn't friendly either when I told her my experience and she could care less. Really unfriendly staff and bad service. I'm thinking about switching to a different office after today. read more

Can't really say much positive about Gentle Dental other than they are not communicative...at all. Cannot call (new patient). The call center will transfer new patients to another line where you will be on hold for about five minutes and then be transferred to "clearinghouse" voice mailbox where it will ask you to leave your phone number. No point in that. After two weeks and four phone calls ... not one reply. Fifth call, a little more inquiry (specific questions), was informed to walk into the desired office to get an appointment. Went into the office (after researching office hours, new patient availability, etc). Found office hours M-F, closes at 5:00 pm. Upon visiting office ( 25 miles, one way ), informed office hours Tu-Th, until 5:00 pm - and NOT accepting new patients. Receptionist a little abrupt. Made to feel I should have known this already (out of date website? Not our problem). Cannot recommend Gentle Dental to anyone. A prospective patient cannot call a specific office, must go through Call Center. Will have to leave a voice mail for whom no one will return your call. Don't trust the websites. All phone numbers route to the Call Center. read more

The dentist and the dental assistants are great. But goddess help you, if you have a dental emergency. The front office staff tell you they can't see you for two or three days and then direct you to urgent care for antibiotics. It doesn't matter if it's an extreme dental emergency. I've been to multiple dental surgeons and dentists all over just to make sure I get the right one. Ask for doctor B. I came in on Halloween the first time after popping off a crown on a front tooth and they totally fit me in and we're all wearing costumes! I have messed up my own teeth through injuries and I only trust doctor B to fix it. So just be patient, and they understand the hurry you're in. I've moved further away from this location and still come here to make sure I get the stuff my parents' insurance pays for. read more

I used the call center to make a new patient appointment for the River Rd location in about two weeks for a simple cleaning. The Friday afternoon before my Monday appointment I received a call confirming my appointment at Gentle Dental in Pleasanton, CA. I immediately called the River Rd location and could only leave a voicemail. I called the Pleasanton location and explained the call center's mixup. They canceled that appointment since it's 800 miles away. No call back from River Road. I take time off work on Monday and arrive early. The receptionist was a bit confused and calls her manager over. I explain the mixup to the manager, who somehow insists I made an appointment with the VRC location and she said people get them mixed up all of the time because both have "River" in the name (obviously she didn't listen to me). I keep telling her no, but she calls The VRC location anyway, who confirm I don't have an appointment there. Then she actually listens to what I had been saying and says they'll try to squeeze me in. An hour or two later I see the hygienist, who says she can only do a precleaning that day. I had also told the hygienist I want to get the cleaning done as quickly as possible. She says I can make another appointment to get the cleaning done, which would be another two weeks. During the second visit the same hygienist tells me my insurance will only pay to clean half of my mouth that visit (wtf, never heard that one before). She tells me I can make ANOTHER appointment to get the second half of my mouth cleaned, which would be another two weeks out. I even asked why she didn't mention this during the first visit when I told her I wanted to get it done quickly, then I could have scheduled both appointments. No answer. So it took three visits over a month and a half to get a cleaning done with no cavities. Never again. read more

I had a filling on my front tooth fall out and was very sore. I was able to get an emergency appointment the same day I called. Dr. Bergeson and his assistants Deb were consummate professionals and they even filled in an adjacent cavity on a different tooth that I didn't know about. When I scheduled a "new patient" exam and cleaning, I wasn't told that the exam and cleaning were scheduled 1 1/2 hours apart. Thankfully, Edna and Amanda were awesome and did their best to squeeze my cleaning in between my x-rays and the actual exam with the dentist. What might have taken 2 1/2 hours only took 1 1/2 (still kinda long, but they are really busy on Tuesdays!). Even with the rushing, they were still very thorough and did a great job! read more

I got a couple of my cleanings done with Amanda. I was lucky to have her. Same as my daughter she worked with her as well and is wonderful. She answers your questions completely honestly! She is genuinely a kind and really interesting person. I absolutely adore gabbing with her she put smile on my face every time. I know she went above and beyond to make sure I got a really safe and comfortable as possible experience. I'd go back to this facility and location just for her specifically. Going to the dentist is not my favorite thing to do but since I have to go it is nice that I can feel welcome and at ease. The office is very clean and comfortable and all of the staff have made me feel welcome and comfortable. Also if you don't have dental insurance they do provide a special savings program which I signed up for. read more

Gentle Dental is amazing! They are conservative in care and will save you money. They take the time to evaluate your mouth and glands for any cancer which is beyond anything I have ever had before. Sometimes good care takes time. The Dentist have all been great. They will show you pictures of your teeth and explain what is going on if you have any questions or concerns. read more
