Dr. Lee and Haelee were absolutely amazing. They gave me a one day crown that they scanned and placed all in the same visit. My last dentist, it took weeks just for them to then turn around and have to seek approval from the insurance a second time because designing the crown took so long. I cannot overstate how nice it was to just get it all done in one vist. Both doctor Lee and Haelee were friendly, included me in their conversation even when I could only respond with a thumbs up and they even went the extra mile of getting rid of calsification even though it wasn't originally in the plan. If you are looking for a Dentist, I highly recommend McKenzie Dental Center. Their hours are flexible, when I say I need an appointment while my kids are in school, they make sure to find something that works for me and I never have to wait long for anything. read more

I have been going to this dentist office for years and paying cash, I showed up for a cleaning to find that my dental plan expired two days ago but they are now not offering the plan anymore. They did not inform me and we could have done the cleaning 2 days ago but no one notified me, so in the end I was left with paying $75. for their new plan plus an additional $210. just for the cleaning that would have been covered under my original plan, I said no and I will be looking for a new dental office going forward. read more

Update! I just had a nice phone call with the lady that handles the billing and insurance. She looked up the insurance and found it was 100% covered for us and applied it for everyone on that plan. It was a very productive call and I appreciate the level of concern that she had. I'm going to update my review based off my level of care and service as a result and assume that moving forward the insurance issues will be taken care of. From my interactions with the front desk I did not know that there was anyone else to talk to about issues like this, so definitely give their billing team a call if you have any issues like I had, she sounded very willing to work with figuring things out. read more

I went in for a split and several years old, ground off (for a denture base canine tooth that had a titanium screw inserted to help hold an upper denture). It had split and the titanium stud was no longer in it. It had become infected and needed to be removed. I ordered Nitrous Oxide because I don't like a lot of pain at the dentist. When I went in for the procedure I asked my dentist, Dr. John, how long this would take. He said about 6 to 7 minutes. I asked him if I needed Nitrous Oxide for such a short procedure. He said he didn't think I would be in any pain, but he would keep the Nitrous Oxide available if I needed it. It took even less than 6 minutes and there was no pain. Saved quite a few dollars on the Nitrous Oxide. Highly recommend Dr. John and McKenzie Dental Center. read more

My husband went in for a cleaning. He was told 6 months ago that he needed $1700 worth of work for a root canal and crown. He recently went in and said he felt like the hygienist was a student since they now have a school for dental assistants. After his cleaning and a quick exam by Dr Lee the price went up to over $7000. We will be probably be changing dentists. He was very uncomfortable during this visit. We were visiting from out of town and my wife's front crown/venner cracked suddenly in a very conspicuous place on a Friday afternoon. We spent two hours calling every dentist in Eugene and Springfield and nobody wanted to help us. They were already trying to get out the door since it was a Friday afternoon. We finally found an office that really cared in the McKenzie Center. Dr. Lee told us to come on in and he would take care of us. Whatever was necessary. We got there and the staff was amazing. So friendly and helpful. Dr. Lee came in and immediately we felt we were in good hands. He spent an hour on my wife bonding her veneer back in place and had to do some modifications to it too since there was a crack on the back side. A full hour of detailed excellent dental work and there charge was very very reasonable for the time and quality of work provided. Horrible, horrible experience! Although I liked the dentist, Dr Shakespear, his assistant, and the hygienist, the front office staff was incompetent. On my first visit, even though I had "double coverage", they wanted me to pay upfront (in case they had an issue collecting). In fact, they failed to bill the secondary insurance company and then they attempted to make me pay the portion they had not billed at a subsequent visit. Then, the receptionist had the audacity to lecture me (a licensed insurance agent for 25+ years) on "how insurance worked". read more

Since they moved into their new location the quality at Mackenzie Dental has vanished. 7:30am appointment and the dentist couldn't stay on schedule? Was told he was upstairs. How disrespectful do professionals have to become before their customers have had enough? Making a patient wait while you are NOT with another patient just says you're unorganized, unprofessional and incapable of following a set schedule. You fell behind over half an hour in a half an hour? More believable is you were not on property and the staff was lying to me to cover for you. You make an appointment, the professional thing to do is keep that appointment. My last cleaning experience was what pushed me to the door. This experience is just pushing me the rest of the way out. You lost a customer for life because your staff lied to me. You set an appointment for a time you should not have set it for. Then when your doctor couldn't show up on time, you lied to keep me there until they did... but they never did. You lied, I left. It's really that simple. Be honest next time and just say the doc is running late. Or use better lies, like he's with another patient. Sheesh! read more

I was visiting family in Eugene and had fork pain. McKenzie Dental made time for me the next day. Dr. Lee very patiently examined my tooth and went through options with me. We ended up doing root canal and it was so much less than the horror I had always heard of. Dr. Lee and his assistant, Carlos, worked so well that I had no tooth pain after. When the anesthetic injection didn't hurt. I am incredibly impressed with the professionalism, personal interaction, and Dr. Lee's mentorship of his assistant. I came to this clinic because since retiring, I no longer have dental insurance and needed to find a dentist who would take monthly payments if needed. I wasn't sure if I would like being in a setting with several dentists and staff as I was used to one dentist and the same hygienist for years. I was pleasantly surprised! My experience with this establishment was awful. To start with I sent them my insurance information 3 weeks before my appointment. I asked them to find out what was covered by my insurance no email back, no reply in any other form. I was in the office before they bother to check. They told me $1750.00 would be cover by insurance. In reality they were supposed to get pre-authorization before any treatment was rendered. I not knowing went ahead and scheduled 3 months of treatment. I was left in severe mouth pain for those 3 months. The dentist was so rough with me. I DO NOT suggest my worst enemy to this dentist. One of my front teeth was filled by hygienist Crystal and was done incorrectly. It was just as black as before she did the work. Dr. John said it was done improperly. I asked for a refund for that cost of repair and no one has called from the office regarding this issue. I don't feel that I should have to pay twice. I am not sure I would return to an office where the doctors are not placing all fillings. I have requested a response on this matter without any followup from McKenzie Dental. Dr. John just drilled and filled three cavities in as many teeth WITHOUT anisthetic (I agreed) and I FELT NO PAIN. THAT is some KICK ASS DENTISTRY. I can eat right away, the visit was shorter, I didn't have to deal with any needles, and I'm not left feeling like my mouth is made of cotton balls. This guy is amazing! To top it all off, he agreed to double-book my girlfriend and I on a Sunday afternoon so that we could be seen at the same time.l without taking work off. I'd give 10 stars if I could. read more

Very disappointed with their service. Switched dentist because mine retired, First visit was very welcoming , they evaluated and they said i needed deep cleaning upper and lower which will take two 45 minute or one 1 hr &1/2 session . when i returned for cleaning, cost was $50.00 more than what they quoted, i asked front desk how long it would actually take and she told me it was for 45 minutes. I said i thought it was scheduled for 1hr & 1/2 for both upper and lower. After waiting a while she came back and told me that they can get all cleaning done today. I did not agree what they considered deep cleaning because my old dentist cleaned same way without claiming it as deep cleaning. My experience with McKenzie Dental was so negative that i called and told them i am not returning and going to find another Dentist else where. read more

I had a tooth that needed a root canal scheduled for 2 weeks out (it didn't hurt when I made the appt. ) Woke one morning and BAM it felt like FIRE it hurt so bad! I called the office at 8 AM and asked for any cancellations. They just said come on in and we will fit you in! By noon it was done and I was no longer in pain. I want to that Dr. John. He was very friendly and concerned about my comfort. Also Sarah, his assistant that explained everything to me and even took a picture when I asked. Also Ari (not sure of spelling). She worked magic to get me into the schedule. The receptionist (didn't get her name) explained all charges to me twice so I understood. Everyone was great. A wonderful experience AT THE DENTIST! Be fore warned of this company!!!!!! I have been a patient here for 5 years!! Their policy is pay at time of service!!! I ALWAYS pay cash i paid for service & went home!! Weeks later they send me a bill!! Wtf!! I paid so i dont get bills!! Rather then an apology from Chris the front desk man who checked me out on day of services he told me to find another doctor!! They TREATED me like i had skipped out on my bill.. he was rather rude! Yes i was shaking when i went in! I was my normal loud self! Never once cussed! Rather then make it right with their customers (yes my wife talked to them as i was pissed) they told us to find another doctor over their mistake!! This is not the first time they have made a mistake! It is NOT the $$ as i proved that by going in & paying them! It is the principal of the matter!! I even called back the next day after my services to inform them that the DR. Needed to take better care of his tools, as not once but twice he cut me with the drills...ON MY ARM.. which no apologies from the Dr Jon for cutting ....at this time i talked to chris again he never once mentioned HIS error of not charging me! NEVER ONCE did they apologize & thats what made me mad to treat me as if i had walked out on my bill rather then treating me as if they had made the mistake!! Not only that but Dr. Jon even stepped out of his way to make me uncomfortable about my ear! (I did say he could look at it) He even asked to touch it then called over numerous nurse & employees in their office & asked them if they wanted to touch my ear as if i was a circus animal on display! I let all this go at the time because he had his hands in my mouth & didnt want to be like hey you freaking cut me twice!! I do recalling going back to work and telling the crew i was cut twice! Chris at the dr office literally implied i was making this up even though i called him the very next day after anesthesia wore off! He literally tried to check my arm for cuts today even though it had been 3+weeks!! For him to treat customers like criminals after his mistake is beyond to much! An apology goes along way! And we will gladly take our cash payimg business else where! In the end he said skip the $$ & not pay..but it was never about the $$ so i 100% paid after he refused my money! New client, right before covid hit. I'm getting dentures and supposedly i had paid for everything up front (12K), but every time i go back they need another $1200 because of this or that. And they never tell you that when you schedule the appointment, they wait until you are in the office to tell you owe more. So now i've paid 14k. Today i went in for my "hard reline" thats supposed to be part of the package and they never even mentioned my bottom denture. This place is wonderful. I'm the worst patient ever, I'm 28 and terrified of the dentist so nothing is ever easy with me. I had a panick attack in the middle of getting a filling and an extraction and they let me stop and take a break and didn't make me feel like a total crazy person for being so afraid. I didn't catch the doctors name since I was a little bit nervous and it was my first time meeting him but everyone there seemed very nice. They appear to be using HIPPA as a shield to hide behind and refuse to divulge whether or not the office has had the Covid vaccination. Are they antivax? Who knows. There are other dental offices that are happy to let you know that they have all had their Covid shots.
