I was very nervous about the switch mid-treatment at the time-- but it turned out to be the best fortune for me, my teeth and my family. Dr. Thornton has excellent listening skills and is conservative in his approach (he does not over treat). My teeth turned out beautiful and it was always a joy to come to the appointments as the entire staff are friendly and good at keeping busy adults and kids on schedule without drama. I later sent my daughter to Dr. Thorton for braces and to fix a tooth that was stuck in the wrong position. She is now 16 with a fantastic smile. She was always happy with her treatment. We have one more teen who will need some minor treatment soon. I wouldn't consider anyone else. Kids who attend Roosevelt and South can easily walk to appointments after school. In all, Thorton Orthodontics deserves a hearty five gold stars.

You are then transferred to the local office who doesn't answer the phone. The local office leaves you a voicemail if you can't pick up and they ask you to call their general number. You get stuck in a loop of calling a number who can't help you and being transferred to a number that isn't picking up. I haven't had any bad experiences with any of the dental work they perform, just the lack of appointment and difficulty scheduling appointments.

I am not on the Oregon health plan, and definitely not judging anybody who is, but was not happy with that answer, obviously. I will say, however, Dr. Tranby and his hygienist Heather have always been wonderful and very good at their jobs. It's just too bad they can't be at a place with the people around them, supporting them, actually valuing their patients.

After multiple consultations we chose Dr. Gass for many reasons. Not only do we feel he is a knowledgeable orthodontist, but he was personable as well. He personally sat down with us, explained his treatment methods and offered an opportunity to ask questions. We didn't feel like our time in his office was an inconvenience. Dr. Gass offered informative answers as well as professional and personable conversation that put us at ease and helped make our decision to have him treat both of our children. In addition, Dr. Gass's staff both back of house technicians and front of house office staff are second to none. We are greeted by first names and always made to feel welcome. Our kids never complain about going to the orthodontist, they welcome the opportunity to see their favorite techs and catch up on the happenings between visits. That always makes my wife and I that much more comfortable with our decision. My son has completed his treatment and we couldn't be more pleased. His smile is constant and contagious. My daughter has about six months left. As excited as she is to get her braces off, we're almost saddened by the fact we will not being seeing Dr. Gass and his staff on such a regular basis. Dr G you claim you'll never be dismissive as you are being dismissive about the complaints! That makes no sense. You can't tell people they are wrong for feeling the way you or your staff made them feel. Definitely going to keep looking for a better orthodontist for my son. It's not even about the negative reviews, only the way the dr has responded to them.

Even though my kid was two visits from completing treatment refused to give her the retainer that was included in the treatment I had already paid for in full because there was "nothing to retain". They also refused to transfer treatment elsewhere or give a refund for services not rendered (ie, the retainer). I would 100% advise avoiding this place. Also, they bribe people to give good reviews.
