I was scared, in pain, and had absolutely no idea what to do. I left a message through their emergency line, and Dr. Jill personally returned my call within minutes. She immediately jumped into action and went incredibly far above and beyond for me. She calmly walked me through what to do step by step (over the phone), stayed with me while I got my tooth back into position, checked in repeatedly about my pain and bleeding, reviewed my medications with me, answered every question I had, explained exactly what symptoms would mean I needed to go to the ER, and made sure I understood what follow-up care I would need. What struck me most was how incredibly kind she was. I was panicked when this happened, and she never once made me feel rushed, embarrassed, dramatic, or like I was inconveniencing her. She was patient, reassuring, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about making sure I was okay. By the end of the call, my tooth was back where it belonged, my pain had significantly improved, and I had gone from being terrified to feeling like I understood what had happened and what I needed to do next. What makes this even more meaningful to me is that I wasn't even an established patient of Dr. Jill's or the dental office's. It was late at night, she had never met me, and she simply heard that someone was frightened and needed help and did everything she could to help me. That kind of humanity is rare, and I will not forget it. If this is how she treats someone she had never even met before, I can only imagine how well she takes care of her patients. To start, Dr Snyder's philosophy is in his words "conservative". He offers whitening, straightening, and everything else cosmetic you could want, but his general approach is that if it isn't about health, he won't try to sell it to you, which I really appreciate. He's big on preventative maintenance and adjusting your regularly scheduled visits to meet your needs as a patient. If your teeth and home care don't require it, he will say that you don't need to come in as often as every six months. If you need to come in more often, he'll say that too. He is very straight to the point and honest. I had some wear on my front teeth and he shot it to me straight: the best practice is to get braces to re-align them (and add reinforcing paste), or he can just put some paste on them every five years which will chip if not replaced, but basically does the same job. He said he didn't expect the wear to cause any health problems so long as I came in for regular check-ups. Well, you can probably guess which option I picked! The hygienist I got for my cleaning did an excellent job cleaning my teeth. It was painful at times, as one might expect, especially since I hadn't seen a dentist in around 5 years. Some areas are sensitive, but you gotta do what you gotta do. After much scraping and trying to think about literally anything other than somebody sticking sharp metal things into my mouth, my teeth feel cleaner than ever! For those with dental phobia or anxiety, this office does not offer gas for routine treatments.

The front office part of the team is no less so: warm and genuine, on top of demands and willing to bend over backwards in a pinch. Dr Jeff proved to be a clear thinking pragmatist, presenting possible solutions, from best case to full restoration, in a clearly explained manner. He took time to fully evaluate my particular situation as well as listen to my thoughts and concerns, which I appreciate very much. Upon leaving their office, I had a treatment plan outline and maximum costs which may be forthcoming. So far, so good. My original implant was done back in 2006 out of state. DDS Shawn Eckstrom is absolutely a magician when it comes to dentistry and implants. He achieved what no other oral surgeon or dentist did for me. He without hesitation worked on the hex part of the implant. He did refer me to his friend Oral Surgeon Andrew Dow, Dr. Dow follow up on his referral and with Dr. Eckstrom photos and information pass down they got the job completed. DDS Shawn Eckstrom will be finishing up this older implant replacement this up and coming week. I will finally be able to enjoy eating steak and other foods that require a lot of chewing. He has truly given be a better quality of life with his implant work. My upper new implant that he has installed is perfect and feels just like my original tooth. The dental assistant who assisted Dr. Houston during the crown and filling was so personable and made me feel relaxed and comfortable. She even brought me a blanket to cover myself with because I was cold. Dr. Houston is very professional, highly educated and yet is warm and easy to talk to. He used 3D imaging for my crown, and man, it is a perfect fit! His office is clean and modern. I would highly recommend Dr. Houston to anyone looking for a dentist. I am so glad I found his office.

Writing this review makes me sad because I have been a patient at Gentle Dental for nearly 15…read moreyears. Last year I went in for an exam but it had been a few years since my previous cleaning and my teeth were in rough shape. The dentist wanted to remove 7 of my teeth! I was shocked and declined the removal. Instead I sought out other alternatives. I had each quadrant of my mouth "scaled" - a deep cleaning procedure that I've had done before. Then I got a water pic and started to up my daily maintenance. When I went back for my 6 month exam this year I received high praise on how good my teeth were and nobody said a thing about those 7 teeth still needing to be removed. Thanks to MYSELF I managed to save and retain all of my teeth! Then, just recently I started experiencing some pain in my gums. It felt like one of my wisdom teeth was trying to grow sideways out of my gums. After a week it hadn't really gotten better so I scheduled a short appointment just to have it checked out. The hygienist took an x-ray and then the dentist came in. He took a quick look and told me that it's not infected, just a small cut in my gums most likely from eating something sharp. He said it's healing fine and I don't need antibiotics. He then shocked me when he said "I recommend removing the wisdom tooth." Then the next thing I knew he was numbing my gums and preparing a shot. That's when I freaked out!!! I was on my lunch break and told him I needed to get back to work. The hygienist said "oh that's fine, you can go back to work." These people clearly do not get to know their patients. First of all, I immediately started to sweat and shake and panic and felt light-headed. I had so many questions, and even if I did decide to have my tooth removed I would need anxiety medication beforehand, someone to accompany me AND to drive me home afterwards, pre-purchased foods at home to eat while my gums healed, and definitely time off from work! I'm also a smoker, so knowing that I wouldn't be able to smoke after having a tooth removed I would need to mentally prepare and plan ahead for that. These people are so quick to jump to "we need to remove your teeth!" Beware! They didn't give me any time to think, just react, and my reaction was to leave. Perhaps if they had sat down calmly and gave me some information to help me understand WHY they thought the tooth should come out then I could at least understand my options, but I was aghast when they didn't even give me any post-surgery instructions beforehand, what to expect, etc. They didn't even give me any time to register what was about to happen. If you have dental anxiety like I do I DO NOT recommend this place. I DO however recommend taking their advice with a grain of salt, stand up for yourself and don't let them pressure you into unnecessary tooth extractions!
