My family and I really enjoyed our late lunch at Wildfire! We got the Oak Roasted Salsa and Queso as an appetizer, both of which were delicious! The salsa had a nice heat to it and the chips were okay. I got a 10oz Ribeye and it was delicious! The waiter looked offended when my mom asked for steak sauce, but I thought it was a perfect medium steak that didn't require additional sauce. I really enjoyed the mashed potatoes it came with. I recently went to a "fancy" restaurant with horrible mashed potatoes and these were so satisfying. The pecan green beans were also very good! I've never had pecans in my green beans, but I'm now a fan. My dad and husband both got the chicken fried steak, which they had no trouble finishing since it was so good. I called Friday morning to see if I could get a reservation for my 15 year anniversary and to my surprise they had two spots available. The gentlemen helping me on the phone was so kind and considerate to my needs. Once we arrived, we were seated immediately and to our surprise they put us in a cozy booth. The hostess welcomed us so attentively and as we sat down, the said hostess said Happy Anniversary, that was so sweet that it was noted it was our anniversary. Our waiter (Jason) which is the absolute best, came over, introduced himself and started with some fantastic recommendation's. His personality was setting the mood for a fantastic experience. We ended up with cocktails from their amazing bar and for our anniversary dinner we decided on The Cowboy Ribeyes. The cut, the way it was prepared (perfect medium) and the presentation was 5 stars!!. At the end of our meal we were prepared to order dessert and as we requested a dessert menu, our waiter brought us a complimentary slice of the most decedent, beautiful cheesecake on a platter that decorated with strawberries and the words Happy Anniversary. Lived here for six months and just now found this hidden spot. Had reservations for 5:45 so seated right away. Loved the old town feel as the chandeliers almost made it seem as if time was turned back. The old building was charming as the brick walls added so much character. The table setting alone was so very classy and welcoming. Now to the food. The drink list alone is overwhelming but I don't drink so. We shared herb crusted polenta which was great. Wife ordered rack of lamb with mashed potatoes and spinach. Excellent. I had my mouth set on the catfish and the two huge filets did not disappoint. I wasn't impressed with the coleslaw but I'm also not a fan but the fish omg. As I drank water and coffee while waiting on my food I had no room for dessert but guess what? Poor technique and seasoning for starters. We've been trying new places in and around Austin and this one came highly recommended by long-time friend. Writing this just after arriving home and I'm sad to say it wasn't as expected. We arrived 30 mins before our reservation and decided to have a quick cocktail at the bar while we waited on the rest of our party. The bar was the highlight of the evening. Good ambience, very attentive staff, and the Texas Gentleman (a play on an Old Fashioned) was well made. Overall, as a cocktail enthusiast with a home bar that rivals most commercial establishments, I thought it was better than average for a typical restaurant bar. The cocktail menu could use some curating, but most anyone could find something that they would enjoy. That's where the good news ended. We headed over to the main dining room and it was all downhill from there. The waiter was prompt in greeting us, but there were no pleasantries or welcoming vibes. Before you judge, I am a former service industry worker. I've waited tables, bartended, and have had a long term relationship with a chef. I don't need or want someone to fawn over me, but a simple "good evening", "thank you for dining with us," "have you dined with us before?", or "I highly recommend the....", would have been more than enough. Our waiter was all business and came across as being too busy to be bothered. Now for the "it gets worse" part. This is what we ordered and our experience 1 glass of Cabernet - The wine list isn't huge, but there is a decent selection and "by the glass" options that will satisfy 99% of the potential clientele. The only complaint was that it was ordered at the same time as our appetizers and received shortly after the entrees arrived. Brussel Sprout and Beet Salad - Brussel Sprouts were "mushy" (exact words from my wife) and the little dressing that was on the salad was all poured in the center. It takes 5 seconds to dress and toss a salad. Epic fail. We asked for an extra side of dressing once this was discovered and it never came. Hot Applewood Bacon Spinach Salad - The spinach was fresh and that was the best part. The "dressing", I can only describe as a vinaigrette BLENDED with bacon. Yes, you read that correctly. It was the consistency of pureed Spam and served cold. The taste wasn't awful, but the consistency and visual was off-putting. 16oz NY Strip with loaded baked potato and a $10 side of collard greens - The menu boasts this is "prime beef". If they are paying their vendor for prime cuts, they are also victims. The 16oz steak included 5oz of gristle that I could not chew and could barely cut through with the steak knife. When it arrived, covered in some sort of sauce, red flags were flying everywhere. We ordered medium rare, and received something that was all across the spectrum of "doneness". Nice char on the outside, slightly gray, exterior, and then a perfect line of nearly raw center. We tried to figure out what technique was used and decided that they must oven roast them to rare, refrigerate them, and then grill them on high heat to finish. They should invest in a sous vide. The cook was poorly done. The potato was fine. It could have benefitted from more butter and a more generous portion of toppings, but it was probably the best thing on the table. AVOID the collard greens!!! As someone that has grown up in the south, I admit that my expectations of collard greens are high. These were the most bland that I've had in my life. I assume they use fresh greens because I've even eaten them from a can and had more flavor. There is no salt, no brown sugar, no discernable bacon flavor, no spice at all. It's almost unbelievable how bland they were. $10 for 2 bites and we left the rest on the table. My brother-in-law also had a steak, fries, and the green beans with pecans. He said the fries were good, the ketchup was great, the steak was "OK" and the green beans were "a mistake". Total for the meal (excluding pre-drinks at the bar) was roughly $120 ( $145 including tip because I can't bring myself to tip a server poorly knowing what they make). I had high hopes for this place and it failed in every way. It's average at best, but there are 100 places within 30 mins of here where you can get a better meal for half the price. read more

I canceled a reservation I previously had in Georgetown just to come here based off the reviews from others.... I was highly disappointed. I am actually mad that I wasted money, time and calories on the food here. The best thing that the kitchen produced was an artichoke appetizer. My boyfriend and I had gotten the rack of lamb - 45$ and the elk tenderloin - 35$. The elk meat was tender, but completely lacked of flavor. I had to put the butter from the bread on the potatoes to even get any flavor out of those too, and the asparagus tasted terrible. I got no blackberry reduction, and the chutney was a tsp worth of cold crap on a plate. My boyfriend's rack of lamb tasted extremely burnt. We were in shock how bad it was. The same thing with the mashed potatos. No flavor and the garlic spinach tasted like nothing!!!!!!! Overall NO FLAVOR! NO SEASONING!!!!! and then they put some plain tortilla crusted onion rings on his plate that made absolutely no sense. It was disgusting. Our waiter was nice, and we had no issues with the hostess or servers. The ambiance was warming. Over 100$ for flavorless food, I could've gone to Texas Roadhouse and ordered something with more flavor and been more satisfied. Just a huge disappointment. read more

I've come here several times and each time the service is always good. The food is always mediocre. This evening had the maple glazed crackling pork belly, grilled teal duck, and blue corn encrusted catfish for appetizer and meals. The food was presented very well but the flavor didn't really knock it out of the park to leave me needing more. The catfish was very wet beneath the breading which made it a little difficult to enjoy. The glazed pork belly was incredible but needed more sauce. The mojitos were lovely and I always appreciate a good seasonal flavor! I'll definitely go back to see if the experience is better and try new dishes when I'm in the area but it's not necessarily a place I'd go out of my way to make reservations to eat. My wife had the flash fired shrimp stuffed artichoke hearts, where has this been all my life!? I helped her eat it. Our buddy and I both got the chicken fried new york strip steak, fried in a cast iron skillet and done to perfection. I got mine with the southern gravy covering the 8 ounce piece of tastiness, luscious mashed taters and fire roasted corn. They brought us a second helping of their fluffy dinner rolls with butter. The saloon is more lively than the restaurant so if you don't mind a little noise, we enjoy the energy in that room. Michael, Chris. Liz and Adriana have mastered the art of timing! Decided to give the place a try for our 13th wedding anniversary last night. The good: ambiance - it's an old-timey feel and quite comfortable. Menus (food & drink) were very diverse with lots of appealing options. My wife and I's mojito's were very enjoyable. Our dessert was fantastic. The bread rolls were laughably large and super yummy. Our server, Jason, was very good despite being new. His visit intervals were perfect and took good care of us. The bad - the bar messed up my first drink order, but Jason promptly got it corrected. Minor inconvenience, no biggie. The calamari was overpriced and nothing special. Tasted like your run-of-the-mill calamari. The worst was paying $44 for a 20 oz., bone-in cowboy ribeye that looked like the thin, cheap steak you get with a steak & eggs plate at IHOP. This thing was less than 3/4" thick and barely seasoned with nothing more than salt & pepper. Thankfully they cooked it at the proper temperature, otherwise, a completely underwhelming waste of money. Also, Jason failed to promptly come by to check if the temperature of my steak was correct. That's a #1 rule when your customer orders a steak - make sure it's cooked correctly. The menu had several intriguing options, so I would like to return at some point. But I am certainly not ordering a steak from there again. read more

Last night was one of the few date nights presenting themselves to us. We decided to explore Georgetown and settled on Wildfire as a finalist. Walking up, the location is a little hidden. Once we entered we were told that the restaurant was full but the same menu was available at the bar section. Within a few minutes of sitting down, a friendly server greeted us to take our orders. We decided to order the calamari appetizer, bison strip and elk steak entrees. A draft Irish red beer and a cocktail came out quickly and were good. Warm bread and butter followed, which were a nice touch. The calamari arrived a few minutes later. It was a large portion but the breading lacked flavor. Minutes later surprisingly the entrees arrived. While very well plated, both of us noticed that the stars (Bison and Elk) lacked depth. Presentation was great, all the ingredients appeared fresh and vibrant...but the seasoning was sorely lacking. The elk was over cooked which effectively ruined it. My bison was perfectly cooked at medium rare. The accompanying baked potato was uninspired and devoid of any special touches. For the price, I expected more of...everything. More flavor, more creativity, and perfectly cooked meat. Throughout the meal, I will say that the staff was running at max capacity and I imagine things were borderline crazy in the kitchen. Yet they were all pleasant and we will return in the future for another try when things slow down a little bit. read more

Recently moved to Georgetown and have been looking for a go to spot. This is not it. We went on hubby's 50th cause we were leary about dining out. Our server, Homer, obviously had no COVID training as he didn't have on gloves and regularly touched our food and inside of to go containers. My pork chop was overcooked and dry, my husband's chicken fried steak was chewy. My daughter's stuffed shrimp was the star of the show and incredible. My husband ordered the pecan pie for dessert. It was piping hot but not southern pecan pie. Disappointed that we made reservations but no one seemed to acknowledge or accommodate our request. Disappointed that menu on the range section was to come with baked potato but they said my pork chop in the session didn't count because although it was in that section, it was not beef. The sweet potato hash and greens were great inspite of the drama. Service was just not good. Waiter didn't offer many suggestions although it was our 1st visit. Just totally disappointed. This is a very popular place, we were greeted very warmly coming in...this place is a little dim and slightly dingy but I guess it adds to the charm because I didn't have any issues with that. Our server was very friendly and funny, they have an extensive wine menu but not as many by the glass. It's a little pricey for the wines that they do have by the glass and what they're charging. Their menu is very extensive almost like a Cheesecake Factory type menu. The food is about on par with that place as well, nothing terrible but nothing outstanding. Everything is plated very nicely and the dessert was really good. Maybe it's a nice place to have wine and dessert, if I only got that I'd give it one more star. As it was I got a French dip that was a little dry and the au jus and horseradish sauce was bland. We didn't have a reservation, but the Manager, ( Amber ) , was at the time , acting hostess and squeezed us in. ( it's so busy, you really should have a reservation ) Our server was Adam. We started with the Baked Artichoke Dip - delicious. The wife had Chorizo stuffed pork tenderloin- WOW !! I had the Scallop Alfredo Fettuccine- again WOW !! After placing our order, Adam helped make a wonderful wine choice Evalon: Pino Noir - smooth and delicious. Atmosphere was a bit rocky at first, but ended up being quiet and quaint. My family of 7 chose this place for our, now running on 25 years, annual Christmas dinner. It started in Warren, Rhode Island, moving to Taunton, Ma. for many years. Now, since my sister and I and our families have moved to Texas, we search each year for a new venue to enjoy our dinner. Due to the central location of Georgetown between my sister's and my homes, we picked Wildfire based on the menu, and favorable comments from my neighbors. The venue was pleasant and clean, nicely decorated for the season. We were seated at a large round table and promptly addressed by Dion. (Sorry if I am spelling that wrong.). He was awesome, funny, articulate, and professional. Overall, I was pleased with the experience, but my dad did not care for his shrimp. He found it rubbery and lovely spicy (preference?). My duck breast was fatty, but duck breast should be fatty. Wish it was covered with a crispy skin, as duck should be. I liked the other sides that were plated. The steaks the others had were liked and eaten, but each had a small complaint about their meal. My son had the chicken cordon bleu, but wasn't crazy about the amount of peppers and other items inside. That could be preference. The prices were not ridiculous, though, and for the entire experience, I had fun, liked my meal, and enjoyed the service. Bravo. read more

The rave reviews about the food at Wildfire Grill are accurate. I had the Blue Corn Encrusted Catfish, it was such a huge, yummy entree. I especially enjoyed the sides of Jicama Slaw and sweet potato fries. While our server was superb, the noise level in the historic dining room was so high. The noise was a huge distraction. Our table in the center of the room was tightly squeezed with the adjacent tables, I was afraid to back out of my chair for fear of hitting the patron behind me. We yearn to go back, but next time we will make a reservation for a table in the back room. I can't wait to try more of their delicious food. read more

We had heard great things about Wildfire so decided to give it a try as someplace special to celebrate my husband's birthday. From the get go, things were just odd. Firstly, we had to call the restaurant for reservations. Hard to believe in this day and age that there is no online reservation capability. We had no issue getting a reservation for a Tuesday evening. When we walked in to the restaurant, there was no apparent hostess stand, we just sort of felt like we wondered about trying to figure out where to go. Finally someone on the wait staff said they'd help us shortly. When we were seated, I feel like we got sort of shoved in to an odd corner in the restaurant with a crooked table and two uncomfortable chairs. Mine was so bad that I swapped it out for an extra chair sitting in a corner. Of all the seats in the restaurant, it seemed like this was the only table that had that type of chair. The restaurant is definitely in need of an interior update. The fake flowers, heavy draperies, paint colors and pictures screamed of the 90's - I'm guessing they are original to the space. Our waiter was very attentive, but was totally unengaging. It would have been nice to have been asked if this was our first time visiting (it was!) and give us a quick run down of the menu. Instead, we had to ask him what the restaurant is known for and ask him for suggestions. The service was good, just not personable in any way. I started with the jalapeno pineapple margarita which was excellent, but I thought if very strange to be service in a parfait glass. We had the Macadamia Encrusted Calamari for an appetizer. The appetizer was served quickly and the portion size was generous, but the calamari was chewy and totally lacked any flavor. I also had a Brussel Sprout & Beet Salad which was just a green salad with a few Brussel sprouts and beets thrown on top, not at all what I was expecting. In keeping with the oddity of the restaurant, the salad was served in a tiny little dish. As I was trying to cut the greens I kept wondering why in the world they wouldn't have put the salad on a salad plate! Again, just plain odd! For the main course, I ordered the petite filet mignon which was cooked as ordered and very good. The "loaded" baked potato was lacking in the load a bit, but it was tasty as well. My husband ordered the Atlantic Salmon and while he loved it, it had too much sauce for my taste. We would typically order a dessert for a special occasion like this, but given that the whole meal was a bit "meh," we decided to pass. That being said, most places we eat at for a special occasion like a birthday, offer some sort of a complimentary dessert. However, we were never asked nor did we tell anyone it was a special occasion, but I'm not sure it would have mattered. I would sum it up by saying that while the meal was OK, this is not even close to a 5-star experience and there are much better places to eat in Georgetown.
