Love the food and service is good. Many dinner and sushi options. Interior is a little tired and could use a sprucing.

Not going to lie -- we tried to get into Agave and Rye but they don't take reservations and one look at the no social distancing waiting area told us the wait was going to be long. We hopped in the car to head home, passing Wild Ginger on the way and spotted an open table as we drove past. We pulled over on impulse and got the next to last table in the bar, which offers a full meal service. I haven't been to Wild Ginger in over 15 years and the place is seriously popular. The takeout business they were doing made my jaw drop and the place was full apart from our table in the bar and one other that filled right after we arrived. We had orders of winter rolls (a variation on a spring roll) and shrimp tempura to start. The batter on the shrimp was delicious, light and crispy, and the rolls were something new to me. They were delicious and included minced chicken, sweet potatoes and other good things. For our mains, I had the pineapple fried rice with pork and my husband had chicken pad Thai. We ordered our meals at a five level of spiciness and could easily have handled hotter orders. Saying that, they were very yummy. The servings are huge and made for a great dinner and nice lunch the next day. We not only enjoyed our dinners but also the feeling of normality that comes from getting dressed up and eating out after this long, strange time. Maybe because of Covid 19 and everything that's been going on. But I'll definitely give it a try another time. read more

This is a review on "Sushi" only: there are around 13 places to eat Sushi in the Hyde Park / Mt Lookout area. You would think one place would be better than another, but sadly they all are about the same: "below average at best". Competition generally should drive one of these restaurants to excel... Just a little. So, struck with a case of amnesia, we popped in WG today for lunch... Warm, borderline hot sushi rolls. Tried one. Stopped. We paid our bill, and left. In Cincy, a developing "foodie" city... You'd expect better. The best sushi is in Mason (the burbs), try KYOTO. Update: not sure what happened.. I'm grateful... so good now!!!! read more

We went to Wild Ginger on accident and I'll be honest--I wasn't too impressed. Let me start by saying the service was great and the restaurant is clean. But the food took a while to come out and it was pretty subpar. We ordered the Thai Iced Tea, the Lad Nar, the Buddha Bowl, and the spicy pad cha. The Thai Iced tea was not very good. The Lad Nar was very watery and really just tasted like soy sauce and broth. The noodles were also not very good or fresh. The spicy pad cha was lacking in flavor and a bit too sweet for my taste. It tasted like chili sauce from a jar. The buddha bowl was actually pretty good. If I come back, I'll give the sushi or hibachi a try, but I will definitely be skipping out on the Thai dishes. In terms of Thai food, you're better off trying one of the other many Thai restaurants in the area. read more

We received a 50$ Uber Eats gift card and decided to try several dishes from this restaurant. We ordered: 1. Tom Yum - I hadn't had this before anywhere so I have nothing to compare it too. It was just okay for me and not something I would order again. Lacking in flavor but three large shrimp. 2. Chicken Satay- great peanut sauce and my husband really enjoyed these... I found them a bit dry but he said I was being too picky :) 3. Shrimp Tempura-- very good as not overly greasy. 4. Red curry - I am not a fan of red curry but my husband loves it and he was very disappointed in this dish. Very little curry, just meat and the veggies... 5. drunken noodles--- LOVE LOVE LOVE these noodles, hot or cold they were amazing! 6. Shrimp shumai - very good, my 6 year old loved them as well. 7. Chicken potstickers --- so good! They were the only ones that didn't make it to leftovers... finished them first. 8. Siam noodles. Decent flavor but VERY DRY... we had quite the spread in front of us so we tried them and then stayed away. When reheating the next day we added water and the noodles were much more palatable but could use a less watered down flavor. We had requested extra soy sauce and the dishes to be labeled. It was frustrating that no chopsticks or the extra sauce were provided. We appreciated them labeling the dishes. It was uber eats and were pleasantly satisfied that the dishes were all hot. Very disappointed in the restaurant. We have been going there for years. We had a reservation for Hibachi. They called the night before to tell us they overbooked and that our reservation needed to be pushed. I have never experienced anything like this before. I asked to speak to the owner and they coward and said he/she was out of town. I guess that is how they treat their valued customers. read more

Had dinner here tonight and decided on hibachi. Food was good and the portions were generous. Customer service was great and the chef did an excellent job keeping us entertained. I had the chicken and shrimp and it came with fried rice, salad, and soup. Just a heads up, they do automatically charge a 20% tip if you do hibachi. read more

Kinda slow at the hibachi for lunch. Pricey still like a dinner rate although promoted as lunch. Chef was fun but mixed up meals. My steak and shrimp had only 2 shrimp. Maybe hibachi for lunch isn't their forte, but then why offer? I must say food is very very good but lost a star for speed and a star for chef. The food here is amazing. Everything I've had so far has been great. Even ordered delivery through Doordash and everything was great. The waitresses are really nice. The location is great. And ambiance is amazing. The bad: They are pretty slow. Took forever for anyone to even acknowledge us after the hostess sat us. Then getting the check took way to long. The parking pretty much sucks. The parking lot is tiny, so you end up street parking, and it's a pretty dangerous street to cross. I think I will stick to ordering them for delivery as that way I can enjoy the great food but not have to deal with the slowness and the parking. read more

Where to begin...first off we called to make a reservation & they stated they do first come first serve. We got there and asked if we had a reservation. We proceeded to wait 25 minutes to be seated. Not terrible, but we would've made reservations. After being seated it took another 15 minutes just to bring us water & another 10 minutes to take our order. After receiving our bill we discovered we had been overcharged. After speaking with our server to clear up the confusion she stated the menus just got changed two weeks ago but BOTH PRICES WERE IN THE MENU (the old and the new price in different sections) the sever dismissed our concern and charged us the higher price even though the lower price was clearly stated in the menu. I also asked for a box because I barely touched my food & they took my plate to the kitchen to put it in a small Chinese to go box and I definitely had more food left than what was boxed due to the container being so small. One of my favorite places to eat! They have the best hibachi (granted it's small compared to other places), but it has the best flavor! Tonight, I just wanted fried rice and the yum yum sauce. The fried rice comes with your choice of protein, so I opted for beef. I called in my order and was told it would be 15 minutes. I stopped at Kroger on my way, so I got here around 7-7:10. The biggest issue I have with Wild Ginger is the las know parking. Their lot is small and there are only 3 meter spots in front of the restaurant. It took longer for me to find a place to park than it did for me to go in and get my food. The fried rice is delicious! Oh my goodness! The portion is HUGE, which explains why it's $13. Delicious food and friendly service. Sunday at 1:00-ish and plenty of room to be seating right away. We started with lettuce wraps with fried tofu as the protein, plus dumplings. Very very good and the lettuce wrap appetizer was a meal in itself. Three in our party and we shared a Jedi Roll, fried Spicy Tuna Roll, Sizzling with Chicken, and Fried Tofu Stir Fry. Again everything was excellent and plenty, portion wise. Left overs to go please! We will certainly return to Wild Ginger. I recommend you try it! read more

Wild Ginger is pretty decent! This review is based on a Ubereats Delivery, but I'd definitely venture in to have an in-restaurant experience. The prices were about as you would expect, and the quality was pretty on-par. Nothing blew my mind, but everything was pretty tasty. I ordered the chicken potstickers, crab rangoon, and a spicy tuna roll. The spicy tuna roll didn't feel super quality. I feel like I would get about the same quality sushi from the kroger sushi bar (it's fine, just nothing special). The crab rangoon felt like it didn't have enough filling-to-crunch ratio. It also didn't have much crab flavor, but rather just cream cheese. I feel like prominent crab flavor is kind of a hallmark of good crab rangoon, it was absent. The chicken potstickers were okay, but again, nothing special. I would definitely give Wild Ginger another shot, but would order some different things (hoping they have a little more 'umph'). read more

Food was very good. Alex, a waitress, was so comfortable in her environment she thought it appropriate to burp and blow it out (yes, I got to hear and smell both) when behind the bar. It was extremely unappetizing. Also, she would sit at the bar while the bartender would make the drinks for her order. I was unfortunate enough to be sitting next to her, while she would fling and play with her long hair as strands of her hair were falling onto the bar and into my food. The crew before us showed tonight an half hour late which left us half sitting at the grill without drinks and the other half at the bar until they finished their meal. Once seated, an over served customer at the bar continued to make very rude comments to us. Calling one of us $&& @ing bitch. Interrupting our conversation- just being a jack. Though we tried to ignore him it continued. Once the management asked him to leave and he walked over to the grill and dump his beer on the grill which was full of veggies. WTH! I understand sometimes you have no control over your customers but one of the staff said that this clown was a regular and had acted like this before but never as bad. Are kidding me? Might not be fair to judge Wild Ginger based on my delivery experience, but that's all I have to go off. It was definitely fine. The sushi arrived on time and my order was accurate. I just got 3 basic rolls (spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail, and white tuna/avocado). I ordered through Grub Hub and it did the trick for dinner while I'm out of town and staying at a hotel. The best part about the rolls is that they were done "right." That is, not so heavy on the rice like many American places do, where the roll is 2x as big as it should be because of rice. They let the fish be the star and the rice was a side-act. So, don't let me 3 stars turn you away. It was solid. I just wasn't blown away. Then again, that's hard to do with takeout. read more

My husband and I are both big fans of Asian food; I took him out for Thai on his birthday and we were sorely disappointed so we were cautiously optimistic as we went on a date night to Wild Ginger. I literally could have eaten every single one of the appetizers on the menu and that's not even counting the sushi which I also could have ordered just about everything. The worst part of the evening was trying to decide which appetizers to get! We settled on the Wild Ginger Bites and Lettuce wraps. The Bites were a nice selection of several of the appetizers and all were super yummy. My husband thought the satay sauce was a little sweet but it was great for me since I'm not a huge fan of spice. The lettuce wraps were amazing. Super fresh and well seasoned, as with everything we ate you could tell it was prepared to order and hadn't been sitting around. I would have liked dipping sauce for them but I just used one of the sauces that came with the bites plate. For our main course I had Shrimp Pad Thai and my husband had Beef Pad Char. Again both were super fresh and really well cooked. At our previous bad experience at a different restaurant my shrimp were rubbery and clearly had been heated up separate, but here they were plump and juicy and you could tell they were cooked with the sauce and noodles. I really loved all the bean sprouts the Pad Thai was served with as that is how my husband's father's wife, who is Thai, serves it! He also really liked his Pad Char although he got it as an 8 on the spice scale and could have gone stronger. He loved it though and only wished there'd been more sauce he liked it so much. We will definitely be back again and I'm looking forward to trying some of their creative sushi (mango!) offerings the next time! read more

When did this place slide into the dumpster? Anyone who says this is the best is high on drugs. When they first opened this was a great restaurant, 5 years later it was still good to great, now it's an absolute dumpster fire. From the moment you enter you're greeted (if you could even call it that) by someone who clearly would rather be on their phone or somewhere else entirely. The next thing you'll notice on the way to your table is the lack of cleanliness. And from the looks of the staff they have plenty of time to lean so they've got plenty of time to clean. But nope, the bathrooms smell, the hibachi table had debris on it and just overall the place looked dirty. Ok let's move past that, maybe the food and service will save their reputation. Nope, the service was lackluster at best, the waitress and order taker not a suggestive seller - and that's fine but make an effort to clear dishes or refill water or something besides taking an order an delivering food. MAKE AN EFFORT. I tip very well having worked in the industry and I don't run you to death, try to be helpful & quick but golly make an effort. The food was pedestrian at best, the sushi was lackluster and fraught with problems. The sauces were thin, watery and bland, The sushi rolls were not what they advertised and the sashimi had seen better days. I ran the kitchen in a sushi place for a summer, I know how things are supposed to taste, I know the texture of fresh fish and this wasn't it. There are so many better options out there, I feel bad because I was the one who suggested this place to our group; doubtful I'll be back unless the place catches fire, then I'll roast a marsh mellow over the flames savoring the tastiest thing to come out of Wild Ginger in years. read more

I've been to Wild Ginger twice now when I visit my best friend in Cincy. We're both sushi snobs and always try to find the best places around. Since Hyde Park was close to her house we ended up here for a late lunch about a month after she moved into town. We weren't sure what to expect, but I have to say that the sushi was quite tasty! There was only one roll we ordered that neither of us cared for and didn't finish, and that was just a matter of personal opinion on taste and ingredients. Over the course of my two visits I've tried 9 different types of sushi, the crab rangoons (which tasted freshly made), the lettuce wraps (nicely seasoned and well presented), and several bottles of wine. I don't have one complaint. I would recommend the Rock and Roll and the Sweet Potato roll. I also recommend ordered bottled water, as the tap water has an odd taste. read more

Words can't express how in love with this restaurant I am. We get delivery from them at least once a week since we moved to Anderson, and they have only messed up an order once. In that instance, I drove to the restaurant to change out the salmon roll for a summer roll (don't judge, we're obsessed), and they were slammed with to go orders - the two ladies at the front were checking EVERY order, answering phones, helping customers, and I was STILL out in ten minutes. Also, we like to get add-ons for delivery orders (add cashews, veggies, etc.), and they get it right every time. The meals are all flavorful and spice levels are accurate. Plus, if you aren't feeling Thai, they have SUSHI. Do yourself a favor and try the R U Kidding Me roll. If it's not already obvious, this is my favorite Thai restaurant ever. read more

One thai-worthy night, we came here for dinner. Wild Ginger is more of an Asian Fusion restaurant than traditional, and if you know that going in, you'll have an awesome meal. The menu had several specialty cocktails. To start, we had a mango mojito, a cucumber basil martini, and fried tofu. Both drinks were heavy on the liquor. My mojito was refreshing, but the pulpy mango at the bottom made it difficult to drink. Perhaps strain it next time? As we endugled in the fried tofu, we had some questions about ingredients on the menu. When asking about a specific word, unsure if this was a kind of veggie or seasoning, the server looked completely baffled and had no idea. After running back to the kitchen, he still wasn't sure. This was a bit unsettling. We also asked if the stir fry was cooked with meat stock or vegetable stock. The server responded: "Fish stock, so it's vegetarian." Er... right. The food arrived in massive portions. We had mango curry with fried tofu and steamed rice, and the Spicy Pad Char. Everything was devoured. I even ended up taking home half of my mango curry, which made for a full meal the next day. The portion sizes are definitely worth the quality and price. While the server lacked knowledge about the food, he was very friendly and kept track of the time when we mentioned we had an event to go to after dinner. I had been here once a few years ago, and I wasn't impressed. When my friend suggested meeting here for sushi, I said I would give it another try. We ordered edamame for an app, nothing out of the ordinary. Good size serving for 2-3 people to share. I ordered tuna sashimi (an order has 2 slices) and the Giant Roll (tuna, salmon, white fish, avocado, asparagus, cucumber, masago). The sashimi was sliced thick but had that weird mercury color on it. However, I was happy with my roll selection. It was sliced thinly so gave me a lot of pieces and wasn't overloaded with rice. It could have been rolled a little tighter as my first piece fell apart but that could have been my fault due to being rusty with the chop sticks! We had dinner at 6:45 on a Wednesday night and it was empty, then again the weather could have kept people home. Since we were one of two tables, the service was good. All together, I would say 3.7 out of 5, so I rounded up. read more

I'd eaten at Wild Ginger once before, and had a "meh' dish, but this visit was much different. First off, we went on Easter...do you know how hard it is to find an open restaurant on Easter? I didn't until we tried. Happily, Wild Ginger was open, so we decided to try it. The BF was so happy to see Pho on the menu (his favorite Asian dish). I was happy to see a huge selection of vegetarian dishes. I remembered the last time my dish was "meh" I had ordered a noodle dish...not sure why as I am not a huge noodle dish lover. This time, I made sure to avoid ordering the same thing by getting a rice dish. I ordered the vegetable garden stir fry. It had a wide variety of fresh vegetables and plenty of good ones (including asparagus and zucchini...my two favorite vegetables.) It had a brown sauce, but wasn't at all thick or heavy as some brown sauces can be. The BF said the Pho was some of the best he'd ever had with a very flavorful broth and filled with tons of chicken. In fact, there was so much stuff in his bowl, he didn't have any room to add the extras that come on the side. Service was good and we managed to snag a place right in front; however, it was early and Easter...so there probably wasn't too much competition. I do know that they can get very busy and that, while they have a parking lot, it doesn't hold enough spaces for all the patrons. I did see a sign that you could park in the Busken lot, so that helps, since parking in this area tends to be at a premium. read more

I love pad Thai, it's my "go-to" but this is horrible. It has no flavor at all. I selected the 8 as a spicy option, it's not in the least bit spicy. It doesn't even have any flavor. I have never had pad Thai so horrible. If I were at the restaurant I'd take it back. I definitely wasted my money on this. I know that summer rolls are supposed to be fresh and light; but again the common theme of this restaurant is no flavor. So of course when you have a simple dish at a restaurant with whose theme is "no flavor" you get crunchy flavorless summer rolls. This Tom yum tastes like flavored dish water. And the shumai tasted like it should have. Then again, I'm pretty sure it's premade and just steamed out of the package so it's hard to mess up. read more

Quality of food is inconsistent. Ordered from Wild Ginger a few times in the past couple months, some meals are very well done while others there is noticeable decrease of quality - for the same dishes. Sushi was very good one visit, however this past order was very poor. Unfortunately we also got food poisoning from the raw fish. We ended up throwing out half the sushi order, unfortunately we already consumed half of the order. Pad Thai was also not prepared well, way over application of soy sauce and noodles were completely broken apart, not authentic at all. Only dish done well was the dumplings. Sushi is great, and the place is cozy and comfy. This was a first date place and perfect for it. Stay is nice and accommodating. Second time I ordered from here I got a pineapple fried rice with shrimp which is my favorite dish but not here. Rice was burnt and taste like it and shrimp was smaller than other places with no flavor at all. The rest of the food I enjoyed but would not recommend the pineapple rice. read more
