Sushi is great, and the place is cozy and comfy. This was a first date place and perfect for it. Stay is nice and accommodating. Second time I ordered from here I got a pineapple fried rice with shrimp which is my favorite dish but not here. I would give 6 stars if I could! I just ate out at Wild Ginger with my boyfriend for date night. I never leave Yelp reviews but it seemed pretty necessary after our experience with outstanding food and impeccable service. For starters, our servers name was Alex and he was amazing, with attentive service and a very kind personality; the kind that you wish you'd meet everywhere. I had high hopes for this place, but was a bit disappointed in their sushi. I haven't tried their hibachi, but I can imagine that hibachi is their feature. I got a sashimi plate and it came with egg... I'm no sushi connoisseur, and I don't know the actual definition of sashimi, but when I order sashimi, I prefer fish... not an omelet. That being said, the fish was good.... good enough for 3 stars. The sake was good... but I have yet to go to a restaurant where I thought the sake was 'bad'. I also had the crab rangoon... good but I've had better... Same with service.. good but I've had better. The was nothing blatantly wrong with this place, but I can't say its on my list of places I'd like to try again. I went to Wild Ginger with some friends. The food was good. The staff was friendly. They didn't have the ingredients for a mojito that my friend ordered so that was a bit disappointing, but not a big deal. My friends enjoyed the sushi they got. I had a simple order of shrimp fried rice. I ordered it with a 7 spice level (on a scale of 0-10), but did not find it very spicy at all. I think I would go with a 9 next time. Wild Ginger offers a pleasant atmosphere with some intriguing art work. Servers are friendly, but I can't help but notice a bit of a language barrier, and perhaps not the kind you would expect. Try any stir-fry with beef, it is delicious. Chicken dishes are tasteless. I don't know what they're doing to their chicken but it's wrong and it has no flavor. Chicken Pad Thai is a whiff, which means I can't rate this place any higher than average. Sushi is hit or miss. Some are good, some are boring. Paul and I had lunch here today after trying, rather unsuccessfully, to get a table at Red Feather Kitchen. When we arrived a few minutes before Noon, the place was empty, and I was worried. What was good? They have a parking lot, friendly and timely service, clean bathrooms, nice earthy tones, comfortable seating, and calming music. What was bad? Nothing. What was okay? The food. The wonton soup has potential if more attention were to be paid to seasoning the broth properly and not overcoijung the wontons. The miso soup was watered down, which obviously detracts from the flavor. The rice on my avocado roll was applied in far too thin of a layer and the avocado was chunky rather than creamy. My spicy beef salad was also okay--at first I found the fish sauce in the vinaigrette to be somewhat overpowering, but the acid and sweetness balanced it out over time. The slightly tough beef was a bit of a turn off. The best food item was Paul's Pad Thai with pork. I do not really like Pad Thai, but I tried it and thought it was pretty good. He ate every last morsel, so that says something. With some improvements in the food department, Wild Ginger will definitely have more to offer. read more

I have never eaten so much sushi in my life. I am far from being a sushi/sashimi connoisseur, but I have tried several of the places around my area (Hampton Roads, VA)...this was by far the best I've had. I have never even been tempted to try sashimi based on my sushi experience, but that changed at Wild Ginger. I was floored. (Try the Yellowtail) We had the Hee Ma, Volcano, Tuna Indy, Tony's, and the King of the Ocean rolls. The Hee Ma was the favorite, but all were better than the best I'd tried to date. (this is not an exaggeration, and is probably more than a little sad). I will return next time I'm in town. read more

I recommend the pad se ew. You can adjust your spice level per dish. They have private parking behind the restaurant!! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I loved their lunch menu, definitely worth the price. I had sushi and a noodle dish, both were delicious. The dinner menu, especially the sushi, is a little pricey. It literally pains me to write this review because I love the food here! But the quality of the service has so seriously declined that it isn't worth visiting. The waitstaff is so overworked and simply aren't able to keep up with the amount of tables. On my most recent visit, we waited 20 minutes from the time we sat down and were given menus and glasses of water before anyone acknowledged us. We stayed because we love the food so much. After ordering and having our food delivered, we literally didn't see our server until she dropped off our check, which incidentally happened a full 20 minutes after we had finished our meal. We tried to signal to other servers that we were ready to go, but everyone was running around trying to keep up with the demand that we were forced to wait. Overall Wild Ginger has become a huge disappointment. The food is still good, and the service is so bad that it might be worth it to utilize carry-out only. read more

Both were delicious, but there was unfortunately absolutely no "heat" in either dish, even though both were supposedly at a 2 out of 4 on the spiciness scale. We celebrated our 5th wedding Anniversary at Wild Ginger. We enjoyed sitting on the outdoor listening to the live band while enjoying our wine and dinner. We started with the Tequila Sunrise maki roll for an appetizer and had the pepper steak and mango chicken as our entrees. I highly recommend, very delicious. Been here a couple of times, they do have a parking lot, but that can be filled during busy hours. Staff was really nice and food is very yummy. I had the Shitake Seafood dish, which had skewers of fried shrimp and scallop on top of a bed of vegetables. I love this restaurant and I always have a great experience. I've even given them amazing reviews on my food blog page, but tonight was a sad exception. We were seated at a table and no one ever came to take our order or even to acknowledge us. Two young ladies came in ten minutes after us and they were quickly greeted and their order was taken. My husband and I sat for five more minutes with no one to approach us. We finally decided to leave and go to another establishment down the street where we were greeted with friendly service and a wonderful meal. However, kind of slow on the water refills. We had the crab Rangoon for an appetizer, I think it had a little too much cream cheese and would have like a little more crab, or to be able to taste the crab. We LOVE sushi and are constantly searching for the freshest and most consistent and delicious sushi in Cincinnati. While Wild Ginger's sushi is fresh and delicious fish- the portions are *ridiculously* tiny. A normal size sliced roll can be eaten in 2 bites. We just ordered last night (I wish i wouldve taken a photo) and every time we order - we regret it!!! In addition the prices are very high. We also love miso soup and chicken satay - Wild Ginger's miso is bland and the chicken satay is very strange and the peanut sauce is goopy, cold and gross. Bland and unimpressive. Have been waiting to try this place for a while and I should have kept waiting. Nice enough table by the window - quickly spoiled by flying insects scuttering across the glass. As obnoxious as it was I did try to trap some under the wrappers from our prosecco bottles. Ordered a bottle of prosecco for my sister and I (tonight was my treat to her as a birthday present FYI) and after about 10 minutes we were presented 2 splits of prosecco, which I was willing to forgive and told the server it was fine. She set them down and did not open them, odd. Okay I'm an open minded person let's order some food. Shrimp dumplings, edamame, house salad, eel roll, spicy shrimp, and shrimp tempura. All easy enough dishes, nothing hard to execute. Shrimp dumplings were the highlight - savory with a sweet ending, yum. Cold edamame, not so awesome. Can't really mess up a house salad. And sushi was bland, too light in sauce, and too heavy in cucumber. Really I should have just ordered 3 cucumber rolls. We'll take the check please! Oh shit not an incorrect check! Holy shit you charged my for 2 full bottles of prosecco?! The look of rage/disappointment/confusion on my face allowed another server to grace us with her presence. She explained she could correct the bill and came back promptly with a lower one. We paid we left we went and got a better bottle of prosecco at my house and saved our evening. I ordered extra sauce, didn't come. I also ordered to a hotel room and clearly communicated that but no utensils. How do you eat take out food without utensils? I have eaten at Wild Ginger several times before for sushi but this was my first hibachi experience there. We arrived about 10 minutes before six without a reservation and were seated promptly but had to wait for the other guests who had reservations. I didn't take this into account and was hungry. The waiters brought out our soup and salad so that staved off the hunger. Finally the chef came out and began the hibachi presentation. My mother ordered the red snapper and I ordered the shrimp and scallop combo. The dinner was tasty but with only one chef for about 16 guests the rice was getting cold before the meat was ready. Overall a good experience but I think a two shelf system would ensure the food was prepared and able to be eaten at the same temperature. read more

Came for hibachi (which, btw, was yummy), but the owner greeted us and made us feel bad for asking to sit at the grill as a party of two saying that there was a big party coming at 630 (about 40 minutes from when we arrived). The restaurant was basically empty, but we obliged and quickly decided on our food while standing there. I have always wanted to try Wild Ginger and sadly I was disappointed when I did. My sister and I ordered three sushi rolls, edamame, and a salad during our visit which all came out after a long wait and incorrect. On top of one of our rolls being wrong, all three were extremely bland. We were disappointed when our salad took so long to come out and our edamame was cold, but we hoped the sushi would make up for this and it did not. Finally when our bill came it was almost double what it was supposed to be (99 instead of 48) and our server did not even come to check on us. Instead we had to wait for a manager to come ask what was wrong. I will not be returning to Wild Ginger, and would not recommend it to anyone. read more

When I recently dined at Wild Ginger, I decided to go the Thai route. My dad and I ordered a Pad Thai and Lemongrass veggie stir-fry to split. Both entrees met our expectations but weren't anything special. The stir-fry was a little on the salty side. The portions were pretty big, though; we ended up with quite a bit left over. Wild Ginger wasnt even on my radar... the mister and I originally planned to eat somewhere in rookwood spontaneously after a concert but since it was Saturday night, everywhere was packed. Wild Ginger was pretty packed too, but it looks like theyre very willing to accommodare large parties if reserved in advanced and despite the people, we still found parking in the back lot. As promised, we got seated within 20 minutes, and there always seemed to be room at both the drink bar and sushi bar. BF had the sauvignon blanc and I had the moscato, which was super refreshing and delightfully sweet. Wine list seemed pretty diverse, although their cocktail list seemed pretty short. They have your typical Asian beers and sake too (lychee and fuji apple, hot sake included). For food, we shared the spicy tuna roll, which was honestly a huge disappointment compared to aroma, cloud 9, mr. Sushi, or drunken bento. Although, sashimi platters are even an option here, so props to you guys I guess. Theres an extensive list of stir fry and noodle options, which you can choose beef, chicken, vegetarian, sea bass, scallop, shrimp, etc., and choose a spice level between one and ten. Boyfriend had the drunken noodle with scallops, spice level 3. I tried it and there was barely a kick so put your number at a 4-5 if you love sriracha or spicy. They were very generous with their amount of protein. Same goes for mine, pad see ew with beef. Vegetables were delicious, but I wish they had cooked noodles a tad bit more al dente. Service was on point all night and super fast. Our server especially were soooo patient with the table next to us, who gave the server a hard time after not realizing most thai dishes uses fish sauce... lol. Props to you dude. I don't pick Wild Ginger when I'm in the Hyde Park area. My kiddo loves Fusian; my husband loves Lemongrass; and my favorite is Green Papaya. However, I sometimes go to WG if a friend suggests it. This last time I went was purely out of convenience: I had errands to do at Rookwood, but was CRAVING phó something fierce. I'd been hoping to try Saigon Cafe, but they were closed, and I distantly recalled WG, being a "fusian Asian" restaurant, offering phó (along with their hibachi, sushi, Thai, etc.). I was seated quickly and the service was friendly, as it has been the other few times I've been there. But the food, UGH! Bad. Just bad. I ordered veggie spring rolls, and while they were tasty, the shredded vegetable filling was still cold in the centers. Not great. But the phó was sacrilegious - just disgusting, the worse phó I have ever had. It was a big bowl of spicy, grease-filmed, ORANGE broth, globbed with gummy noodles and bean sprouts already added in (this is a negative - I don't like bean sprouts anyway and I never add them to my phó). BUT THE WORSE was how, on top of the soup, was mounded strips of COOKED beef - how nasty! I had to ask for hoisin sauce and sriracha, since neither were offered or displayed on the table. Neither helped the "phó" anyway, which reminded me increasingly of those nasty Maruchan-brand spicy beef-flavored cup of Ramen noodles (the ones you add hot water to and let sit for several minutes) that I ate incessantly in college (I'm clearly not a food snob). The cooked beef strips were unappetizing, the broth was nasty, and unlike the affordable Ramen noodle packets consumed during my years as a starving grad student, the yucky phó and cold spring rolls were WAY overpriced - $19 (no beverage), and with tip, amounted to $22. Ridiculous, even if the food had been good (c'mon now, phó is just cheap noodles and broth, and the rolls weren't stuffed with shrimp or meat). The food and value were 1-star, but the servers were friendly so I'll bump it up to 2-stars, but I will definitely not be going back. I'll get some $8 sushi at Fusian close by next time, or grit my teeth and face the parking situation in Clifton to my beloved Cilantro with its $7 phó and $1.75 spring roll! read more

Zomg this was the worst "Asian food" I have ever had. EVER! Ok so first of all, I always order eggplant when I go to Thai/Chinese/Indian places. I'm not sure why, but I love it with all my heart. Understandably, these different types of cuisines will offer eggplant prepared and flavored in different ways. I never mind and it's always yummy. Well, at Wild Ginger, it is not. I ordered a simple eggplant and other random veggie stir-fry, and 1) the sauce was too liquidy (probably could have been fixed with some cornstarch); 2) the eggplant was rubbery and watery with no flavor. This is a rookie eggplant-cooking mistake -- one that I made all the time when I was first learning to prepare it at home. But at a restaurant I would expect better. Finally, to help support my case :), I was dining with a group of mostly Asians. They ordered things like other stir-frys, pho, and sushi, and were also quite disappointed. I've noticed that a lot of prior reviewers liked this place a lot, I'm just not sure why. Basing my rating on ubereats order so take it with a grain of salt. Order came on time, and the miso soup was still warm. I got the 3 roll special: eel, salmon and shrimp tempura. The eel roll was very lackluster, didn't have much flavour to it. The salmon and shrimp tempura were fine. The rolls itself were fine, some came undone, but that's fine. All in all, the sushi was fine nothing too special. I had a little higher hope for this because I've been told it's the best sushi in town.
