Always a great bowl of soup! We've been craving a good bowl of soup and finally made it to Wild Ginger b4 they closed. We love not having to drive to Oakland to get our taste buds happy :-p This kitchen always delivers

Small little shop located on Park St. Inside, there's a few tables so there might be a wait if it's busy. Service is very fast and food came out quickly. We ordered the pork dumplings and it was delicious! Loved the sauce it came in and the dumpling were good size. We also got the spicy tingly beef in sauce noodles and they were delicious. Noodles were bouncy and had a good bite to them. The beef was tender and good. The sauce itself was spicy and tingly but not too crazy in my opinion. Perfect level of heat and tingly. Overall, the menu is great and love that you can get soup or sauce. The dumplings are solid as well. Service was good and fast. Will be back!

Delicious hand-pulled noodles in a small mom & pop restaurant. Great for pairs or possibly 4. Many small parties in and out for lunch even on a rainy day (a testament to how good the food is!). Really nice service. Will be back!

We came here on a Sunday for lunch and it was moderately busy. Parking can be tough since it is all street parking but it didn't take us more than 10-15 min. It is a pretty small place but orders come out relatively quick. We ordered the dan dan noodles and the spicy mixed veggie hand pulled biang biang noodles. If you don't do spice well, the hand pulled noodle dishes may not be for you, but since I shared this bowl with my partner who does spice better than me, it wasn't as bad. These noodles were thickkk and it complemented the dish well since it was a spicy chili sauce. They also put wood ear mushrooms, some lettuce, and lotus root. The dan dan noodles weren't as spicy and were actually quite plain compared to the hand pulled noodle bowl. Overall, cool spot to get some noodles - whether you like em thick, thin, spicy, or more on the plain side!

Finally had the opportunity to try Wild Ginger while in Alameda and it did not disappoint. I've heard so many great things about this spot from reviews to word-of-mouth. Also, Park St. in Alameda is just so charming..a win/win all around. Yes the reviews are correct ~ you can hear the slaps in the kitchen of hand-pulled noodles being prepared fresh. On the menu you can find cold noodle dishes, and hand-pulled noodles used for dishes in sauce with protein or in a warm soup with protein/veggies. There are also ramen noodle dishes, dumpling dishes in sauce or soup, and delicious street food like the pork or lamb burgers. Service is quick, pricing is extremely fair, and this is the type of heart happy spot supporting small business/super cool hole-in-the-wall IYKYK moment. The stewed pork burger (similar to a meat pocket) was so flavorful and juicy, with a crunch of veggie, I could have ordered a few more if it wasn't a quick pit-stop for lunch. Delicious. Our party ordered a cold noodle dish and warm soup, both so different, but comforting and enjoyed. Also, the pork dumplings in the spicy & sour sauce are super yummy. I noticed they also sell homemade spicy sauce for purchase. Looking forward to returning next time I'm craving the noods. Metered parking can be found along Park Street and the corresponding side streets.

This no-frills East Bay noodle spot delivered on their basics. Their pulled noodles had great texture with the right amount of bounce - not gummy like you sometimes get elsewhere - though the sauce could have used more depth of flavor. The wontons were well-executed with good filling and sauce. I was impressed with the cold liangpi noodles which hit the spot on a hot day. The texture of the liangpi was on point and it had the right amount of acidity. Service was attentive and kept our water glasses full. Worth coming back for another visit!

This place is great, I seen a social media influencer post about it and thought id give it a try. The noodles are the perfect amount of chewy and thick ;3. I really loved the freshness of the cucumber salad also. It was like a sweet sauce on top i probably could have ate 4 orders of it. The service was quick and the employees are also very nice. The place is a little small inside but a perfect size. I ate there on a weekday midday, and it wasn't that busy so that was a plus. I was very satisfied and the portions are enough to share with another person if you aren't super hungry. I think about this place every day since i've been. My friends and I came on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't very busy. We got two dishes to share which was perfect. The beef malatang was good but not traditional malatang. The noodles were very good because they were nice and thick but there was not a lot of meat in my opinion. We also got the pork zha jiang which was good but I wished there was more flavor. I loved the bean sprouts in the dish. I don't know if I'd come back but it was good to try!

Once you step in, they're a very mom & pop shop. Semi open kitchen & there's a small seating nook next to the door. Greeted by cute & friendly staffs. Before anything else, they gave us a complimentary plate of cold spicy cucumber salad. Omggggeeeeee, that was the best cucumber salad I've had. They nailed the seasoning & spices to a tee. The perfect balance of sweet & vinegary umami, and spicy! Best thing to stimulate your appetite. We tried their classic noodles both wet and dry. Loved the home cook feeling but was lacking some flavors. I think the flavor profiles were on the mild end & I feel like it was missing a kick in there somewhere. It could be the cumin or the spice or maybe it catered towards a general crowd. Though the meat was tender! Nonetheless, it was certainly filling. Oh, the dumplings were stuffed!!! So that was great.

I kept hearing buzz about Wild Ginger on social media, so I finally decided to give it a try. We arrived right at opening and were seated right away, though we managed to get the last table before a waitlist started forming. The restaurant is quite small with limited seating, giving it a cozy, bustling vibe. I started with the spicy cucumber salad, and it definitely didn't disappoint. The chili sauce had great flavor and paired perfectly with the chilled cucumbers, refreshing, tangy, and just the right amount of heat. For my main, I ordered the Spicy and Tingly Beef Biangbiang Noodle. The flavors were okay, but not quite a home run like the cucumber salad. The sauce didn't stick to the noodles as much as I hoped, and the noodles themselves were a bit too thick, which made the dish feel slightly unbalanced. That said, I'd still come back to Wild Ginger--next time I'll try their regular noodles to see if that pairing works better for me.

Gonna make this my final review about the darn place. Its my 3rd time trying this restaurant. Before the pandemic, they had some good key notes on what a good szechuan cuisine was. The service was great back then. 2nd time I came, our orders took so long and came cold, had no meat, no flavor on the soup. Quiet restaurant nonetheless. Are we suppose to salt the broth ourselves? 3rd time was Uber Eats order tonight. I came home from work, didn't wanna cook because I cooked for a living, I was doing this all week. Cool, decided to order and try them again, been wanting to give them the benefit of a doubt. No way...this time I think I'm getting pranked. Reciept all had meat. 3 came in, had no meat, and and the one with meat, I was beyond the "whatever..." feeling so I just wanna eat at this point, dan dan noodles had no flavor at all. Everything was bland, soup was just scummy from boiling meat, I love chili oil....this doesn't taste like chili oil. It tasted like oil with nothing but dirt from meat boil. It had no flavor. It needed so much salt, I didn't wanna eat it. On top of it all...i paid about $80 included tip for the uber driver. I really didn't wanna do this. 1 star, I'll never think about this place again.

Wild Ginger is a small but quaint place that has house made noodles. The service was incredible from start to finish. This busy business gave us a free appetizer to try that had some crunchy tofu that we loved. Next we ordered SPICY CUMIN LAMB IN SOUP, PORK ZHA JIANG and the LAMB DUMPLINGS with spicy chili sauce. We enjoyed every bite, from the crispy cucumbers to the delicious broth. The service is quick and easy and great for a quick lunch. Try this place out and ask for extra spicy if you can handle it!

Ordered food to-go. Staff with super nice. Ordered the spicy cumin lamb in sauce noodles and the liang pi. Been craving a place that serves Chinese food like Xi'an Famous Foods in NYC. This place in the bay is probably the only spot I know that comes somewhat close. Spicy cumin lamb noodles is good but i feel like its missing something but I can't quite put my finger on exactly what. I've never had Liang Pi with sesame - not bad. Overall, it was good. Not the same as Xi'an's in NYC. Would go back to try their spicy cumin lamb in soup.

I've been on the hunt for good knife cut/Biang Biang noodles in the Bay Area ever since I had them in NYC ( loved Xi'an Famous Foods!). First impressions: This small mom and pop restaurant was clean, and the lady serving us was super sweet. I ordered the spicy cumin lamb Biang Biang noodles in soup, and it was delicious! The noodles were thicker and chewier, just the way I like them. Soup was on point too. I had ordered extra spicy, but it was still pretty mild. Didn't take away from the flavor though. My friends did their own build-a-bowl noodles with malatang, and they liked it a lot . We also shared a plate of dumplings in sauce, which was also very good. Towards the end, a guy came out from the back (I think it was the owner?) gave us a a small dish of Liang pi ( cold noodle salad) on the house. We loved that too! I'll be coming back often! read more

I love love love this place!! There isn't anything like this around park street or in alameda! When I go here I usually order their popular dish pork zha jiang or their hand pulled noodles in hot seared oil. If you like spicy food then I definitely recommend this place. I had a craving for curry lamb biang biang noodles. I sat outside; they brought me a cucumber salad (gratis) which hit the spot and then a my curry lamb, and it was probably the best version of the dish I've ever had. Good balance, some nice cabbage so some of the bites are less edgy, good curry (and the waiter suggested he could bring more hot sauce on the side if I wanted to step the heat level up, which I will do next time). Would absolutely recommend for those who like some spicy noodles. I'll be back soon. read more

Had the spicy beef noodle soup (hand pulled noodles). It was about $13 total. The portion is decent, its not crazy huge like at some Pho places, but it was enough to fill me up. The broth was really good, not too salty but it had a deep beefy flavor to it. The spicy level was perfect for me, it had quite the kick which I loved. The beef was tasty and very tender. I was surprised at how much I liked the noodles too because I actually don't like handpulled noodles that much because they tend to be too thick. While these were also quite thick, they just had the perfect amount of chew to them, and it went really well with the spicy broth. My main complaint is that it seems the kitchen isn't really separated, and you could hear extremely loud chopping/banging. I don't mind hearing it in the background, but it was so loud it was hurting my ears. Definitely wouldn't come here with someone who wants to chat. read more

Noodles are so flavorful! Reminds me of xian famous food noodles in NY, but I thought this was even better because the spices were not overpowering. Spices were just strong enough to pack some good flavor! The soft and chewy texture of the noodles was also amazing. read more

Wild Ginger is amazing and is my favorite restaurant on the island. I love their hand pulled noodles- flavorful and perfect comfort food. I've had the lamb, beef and curry beef hand pulled noodles as well as the spicy cucumber salad. Of the hand pulled noodles, I like the beef one the best. This is one of the few places I will keep coming back to even though I no longer live in Alameda. read more

I'm a huge fan of hand pulled noodles and was excited to find this place. The service was great. The waitress came and showed us how to order and what selections were most popular. You order from a dry erase board which was kinda cool. We tried the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup, Pork Zha Jiang Noodle, Ds3. Spinach Dumplings in Soup, and Beef Malatang Noodle Soup. The Spicy Beef Noodle Soup was with the hand pulled noodles. The meat was tender and the broth had a nice kick but the noodles were cut too thick which made it hard for the noodles to absorb the flavor of the broth. The Beef Malatang had decent flavor but was more on the bland side. The seaweed used is different from what I'm used to so it was more of my expectations of the type of seaweed than it not being good. The spinach dumplings had good flavor and the broth was flavorful but it was super doughy where I couldn't eat the entire dumplings. I left half of each dumpling cause of the dough. To be fair, the restaurant doesn't use MSG so the flavors aren't going to be as bold as those places that use MSG. I would order the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup again if I ever go back. The Pork Zha Jiang Noodles needed a bit more sauce. What was given doesn't coat all the noodles. Overall, it was a pleasant experience but I was expecting more from the texture of hand pulled noodles given the high ratings. read more

Service was quick and friendly. Definitely get the beef malatang noodle soup and cold noodles! My wife had the fish noodle soup which was bland in comparison. The portions were huge, so we could not finish. Lots of yummy toppings were included. If you're not sure about spice level, get only on the side. read more

Spicy cumin lamb hand-pulled noodle in soup- $12.99 Broth was excellent, lots of lamb flavor. Hand-pulled noodles were really thick and chewy. Good amount of small pieces of lamb. Lamb dumplings in soup- $9.99 Spicy and sour soup. The broth kind of tasted like a soupy version of black vinegar. Dumplings were very soft and didn't have much chew, bordering on wonton softness. Our kid's palate isn't one for spicy so we asked for a mild accommodation for her and they were very happy to execute! Unique Western Chinese food!! The handcut noodles are perfectly chewy and textured. The broth is fragrant, herby, and perfectly salty. The dumplings are all uniquely flavored. Really can't go wrong with any dish here. read more

So good! I find myself craving their Biang Biang Noodle at least 2x a month! Whenever I want something spicy, Wild Ginger is my go-to place. I usually order the Spicy and Tingling Beef in Soup Medium spicy. I usually have a pretty mild spice tolerance, but their mild here was just a bit too weak. I tend to take it to-go, but the two times I've eaten here, the service has been okay. The first time was good, but the 2nd time was just eh. This is a no-frills place so expect thin paper napkins and wooden chopsticks. Overall would recommend if you want something spicy and/or fresh noods! read more

HAND CUT NOODLES! that is all. Just joking, but the noodles are amazing. The soup I got here had an amazing spicy chili in and the noodles were thick and rough cut while also being perfectly springy. I was not a fan of the lettuce in it, that's not my jam. Also, the wontons (you get maybe 6?) were around the same price and a large bowl of soup so I was beating myself up when I ordered them the next time. I would go again, but make sure I knew what I was getting! read more

Super nice small restaurant on Park St. The owner accommodated my spice level pickiness for the kids. Everything was packed well so there were no spills. The spinach vegetable dumplings were quite good! I wish they'd sell these frozen so I could have them whenever. The chili spice they included is so good I'm tempted to go back and buy a jar. read more

Ordered Stewed Pork in Sauce delivered from CAVIAR. Description failed to mention that the dish contains cabbage and cilantro. I am allergic to cilantro and had to throw it away. Very unhappy with the restaurants inaccurate description. read more

Wild Ginger has become one of my favorite restaurants, not just in Alameda, but in the bay area. We have tried a number of dishes including the hand pulled noodles and dandan noodles which are really good. Best Shaanxi food you'll get outside of Shaanxi hands down. The owner is a true representation of hard work, dedication, and inspiration; he is back there pounding away the dough and hand stretching the biangbiang noodles himself 24x7. It is GOOD and FAST. Friendly staff. Not so good food. The place is very small and for a new location it's really not that nice inside. Also, for a Saturday, it was really slow. Their dumplings were inferior to the frozen ones that you find at the grocery store. The noodles were chewy and the soup was bland. No depth of flavor other than lots of spice from the chili. When I say I'm obsessed, I mean I am OBSESSED! At one point in time I was ordering their hand pulled noodle soups (went back and forth between the beef and the lamb) around twice a week. When I daydreamed, it was about their noodle soup. The restaurant itself is tiny, but with COVID restrictions that's not a problem anymore. When you order takeout for their soup, they put the noodles and the soup in separate containers so that the noodles don't get soggy. Their soups are flavorful and the noodles are chewy and thick (depending on the type of dish). My recommendations are the spicy cumin lamb in soup, the spicy & tingly beef in soup, and either of their rou jia mo. Their rou jia mo are flavored very well, and the bread is to die for! One of my favorite restaurants in Alameda if not my favorite. I rave about it to everyone I know and have even gotten my coworkers to eat there! read more

This was a my first time here. Waited maybe 10min on a Saturday night. I wish they had more pictures on their menu but then again that's why I have the yelp app. Super flavorful across the board. Some items are a bit pricey but it was fun trying everything. read more

Consistently amazing food! Hand pulled noodles are made to order - ingredients are fresh and delicious. Last time I went they offered a complimentary order of liangpi (cold skin noodles) which were incredibly good! The pork zha jiang with sauce and cucumber salad are my go-to dishes, but you really can't go wrong with anything on their menu read more

I ordered the beef comb option, pork bun, and pork dumpling. The dumpling portion is small for the price, basically one dumpling per $1.25. Pork bun is disappointed, dry bun. The beef comb is weird, they used the noodle cake from frozen package instead of freshly made, and it didn't cook all the way through. The taste is like 3 stars but overall experience is 2 since the place was hot, no AC. Probably would be better if order something else. read more

This was a spot we walked into as we were strolling around in Alameda and I am so glad that we did! It wasn't too busy when we initially got there, however upon leaving there seemed to have been a bit of a wait. The food was delicious! You could watch the chefs prepare the noodles while you're seated. The food tasted very authentic and pretty spicy. They do have some vegetarian options which is what I got - I believe it was called the spicy hot oil hand pulled noodles which was on their board of specials. I would definitely recommend coming here. Great prices and great taste! read more

SO FRESH AND DELICIOUS FLAVORS! This is my go-to spot in Alameda. Their dumplings are my favorite. I love the dumplings in sauce, but they're great in soup, too. Highly recommend the pork and lamb sliders, as well. My husband and I also love the tingly beef soup - the beef is so tender and flavorful. A great soup when you're feeling sick. Super great all around value and the restaurant is owned and operated by the sweetest family. read more

Absolutely some of the best Sichuan food I have had outside of Manhattan. Spicy & delicious!! I arrived around 8 pm and the restaurant was almost full with everyone from solo diners to multi-generational families. There was one woman (the owner, I think) serving all the tables and she was kind & efficient. I ordered way too much food and it was all delicious. I took the leftovers home and look forward to enjoying them tomorrow. read more

The beef luc lac, which is sort of like shaking beef over vermicelli and lettuce is also excellent. They now charge extra for broth refills, which they did not the first time I dined here, around a year or so ago. I came to this place because the review was nice and it was pull noodles, but boy this was bad... The reviews are probably not so real, so I have to fix it for yelp or they don't know how real chinese food should taste... I don't eat pull noodle quite often but as a Chinese person that eats a lot of different type of noodles, I know what is considered a standard in the noodle world. The pull noodle is way too thick to be even considered good noodle. I had the lamb meat and it was not high quality lamb meat. It's not prepared right. Boy the price was crazy high when you order a few side and it was close to $100 just for a casual lunch. Oh this place is super crowded and is not dine in friendly during the covid era. The tables are way too close to each other. But I learned that this place is not that authentic... Either the chef dropped the ball that day or people never really had real pull noodles in their live. read more

10/10 I always come in on sundays ~ the service is amazing and the servers are very very friendly. They constantly make sure everything is up to par and will make accommodations if needed. I recommend coming Sundays. Although, they might make mistakes, they always correct it. The food is delicious. The hand pull chewy noodles never let me down. The dishes always come out relatively quick, however, it could be slowed down when it's very busy or the chefs are still prepping. I really recommend the L1, H5, and D1. The place is small so I don't recommend coming with large parties. Anything exceeding 5 will be hard for the workers, but they will make do. Called into order a few weeks ago for a beef noodle soup for take out. Was excited to try this place since im a big noodle fan of pretty much anything. Picked up my order and got back home and started to unravel the goods. As I open the stuff. I see the notice are very chunky and thick which is nice. But the area where I was let down was the "beef" part I didnt get slices of beef anywhere in my order just little bits and piece that I had to go searching for. This is one is one of the few places I can get simmered duck head and neck. I got to try amost the entire menu at the tasting party. I enjoy the lamb dumpling soup most. The soup base is very flavorful and compliment the dumpling well. The Chinese Slider have some seriously yummy meat. Only thing I don't like is the disposable plate. I would prefer paper plate instead of what they are using. And the pickle cucumbers. Definitely an authentic version of Chinese street food. read more

This place deserves a 3 star review. Let me start with the pros. The noodle was quite strong and the seasoning was quite authentic. The beef stew was also quite strong, and yet it wasn't chewy. The dumplings were not bad. Now cons. There is no price for noodles and dumplings on the page. It also doesn't say how many fritters are in each order.
