    Chive shrimp and pork dumplings
    Tina A.

Very nice staff, however the food definitely falls short I think they may need to work on their refrigeration, or pork source, as the pork in both my dishes was slightly sour, and didn't taste fresh Shan Dong XLB - no soupy interior, and the meatball inside was miniscule, I'm talking the tip of your thumb size Chive, shrimp, pork dumpling - the shrimp was decent, however the pork inside was sour, leading me to believe that the pork is the issue at this place There was a baby fly stuck to the inside of my daughter's mason jar of water which she pointed out at the end of the meal. The sink in the bathroom had a basin that was catching water drippings that I actually had to pull out and put to the side then put back in. No paper towels to grab the doorknob with. Service was friendly, it felt like eating in a home. This is the reason for the extra stars However with food that isn't fresh and unclean practices, I'm not keen on returning

We ordered for take out and service was fast. It only took 15 minutes. It's a small family owned restaurant with 4-5 tables. You have to call to order, they don't do online orders. We ordered the veggie dumplings, potato salad, cucumber salad, and onion pancakes. It was enough food for 2. The veggie dumplings were tasty and chewy and so good. The onion pancake was the best, it was flaky, chewy and full of flavors. Best onion pancake we've had. Both cucumber and potato salads were delicious. I would definitely recommend coming here if you like dim sum. We also love supporting small businesses, especially when they are just down the street from home. Please stop by and check them out.

Dumpling House opened where New Bamboo Kitchen was. Infrastructure similar. New paint, food pics on walls. New artifacts. Serviced quickly. Didn't need the personal translator server uses on iPhone. Can converse in Mandarin. Offerings (San Dong, China): buns, dumplings, appetizers, special dishes. Smoothies Bites: -fried dough skin-similar to fried won ton skins. 'Liz Comped as was pan fried green pancakes. Deliz. -not similar to Northern Chinese ones. These have much more green onions. Similar to Taiwan ones. *dip in vinegar/soy sauce dip for best results. pork, shrimp & chive dumplings (12/13.99) -Yuge compared with usual San Dong dumplings. Has some savory "soup" within, a whole juicy shrimp, chopped chives/pork. Dip in vinegar/soy sauce dip. spicy pig ear (8.99) - Generous serving of crunchy pigs in chili pieces, sesame seed, cilantro, parsley.. -typical Northern China appetizer. Great source of collagen. May be too spicy for some. Snack food 5 stars- worthy 5 stars quality/quantity *asked server whether this was Taiwan or Bei Fong (Northern China) food. She said: Shan Dong. **few San Dong eateries now open: Koong's, Milpitas, San Wang, San Francisco, ca. May is Asian American, Hawaiian, & Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

The former Bamboo Kitchen is now Dumpling House. A very bare bones atmosphere at this new place. It was interesting our silverware was plastic takeout utensils and some serving dishes were paper or plastic takeout containers! Our server today only spoke Mandarin so she had an English speaking person on her cell to help translate the order. Interesting but effective. We ordered the pork and shrimp dumplings as well as the pork and corn. A dozen in an order and a good size! Both were tasty. Skin was a bit thicker than I like but still delicious. The poached chicken with chili sauce was interesting. Shredded chicken and cilantro. A bit salty. Probably not our fav. Asked for it to be mild. The egg and chive pocket was very good and we would order again. They gave us a complimentary green onion pancake. It was ok -- liked the egg and chive pocket much better. If you are looking for good dumplings and just a very casual place or maybe just takeout, then give them a try! Limited street parking. Looks like you can also order frozen dumplings. Will have to try when I have freezer space.

2105 Lincoln Ave Alameda, CA 94501 New business alert! "Dumpling House" takes over the location of the "New Bamboo Kitchen." Dumpling House just opened, and on Sunday I dropped by and ordered some items. As a soft opening, they had some bugs in their system. The young lady working the counter didn't speak English very well, and had to use translation software to speak to me. I ordered: - Poached Chicken w/ Spicy Chili Sauce - Veggie Spring Rolls - Potstickers - Fresh Pork Buns I was offered Green Onion Pancake to try (free) In general, the food was okay. I really liked the Poached Chicken w/ Chili Sauce. It's meant as an appetizer dish. It tasted just like Chinese Chicken Salad, but without the shredded lettuce. I also liked the Pork Buns and Green Onion Pancakes. What didn't I like? The Potstickers were small, maybe half the size of what I usually see in a Chinese restaurant. The Veggie Spring Rolls had a mushy filling. You only get three (3) Spring Rolls. The menu picture shows five (5). I was told everything was made fresh, not from frozen. The inside decor is clean and bright. Street parking.

We thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant, especially my kids. The dumplings here are made in house, skin and all. It reminds me of when I used to make dumplings when I was younger. And you get 12 pieces in an order, which is unheard of around here. The owner is extremely friendly and kind towards our kids. I love how kid friendly this place is. We have been and will definitely be back!

The Dumpling Quest: Alameda's Hidden Hoard I've crossed bridges. Braved night markets. I've hunted soup dumplings at sunrise and pan-fried legends at dusk. I am... a dumpling fanatic. And yet--somehow--the greatest treasure of them all lay hidden in my own backyard. Tucked away in Alameda, Dumpling House isn't a restaurant. It's a dragon's hoard. I stumbled in, weary from a hundred flavorless quests, and was met with a sizzle and steam that whispered, "You've found it." The napa cabbage pork dumpling burst like golden secrets. The shrimp, pork, and chive dumplings were wispy scrolls of wisdom. Even the scallion pancakes bowed humbly in the presence of greatness. I wept. Silently. Into my soy sauce. Was it the chewy, hand-folded dough? The umami alchemy? The fact that I could finally rest, like Frodo in the Shire? Yes. Yes to all of it. Dumpling House--your name is humble, but your dumplings are mythic. If you've been searching, stop. You're home. Ps ask for the dumpling skin churros

Simple dumpling spot selling northern Chinese style dumplings. The steamed dumplings were juicy, and had the right amount of bite. Their XLB is not quite what I expected and is more like a fluffy bao. We got the beef roll and the cucumber salad. Don't miss the poached chicken. Very good, haven't had something like that before. Perfect level of sichuan

Dumpling dreams do come true! So we finally checked out the new spot in Alameda we'd been eyeing. It's a quirky little place - think picnic at grandma's but indoors: plastic tablecloths, floral chair covers, tv blastng in the background We typically visit East Ocean, but it's consistently crowded and expensive. The dumplings at Dumpling House have a more homemade taste, and we enjoy the warmer atmosphere of the family-run spot. Service - The guy helping us was super kind, had a thick accent but understood everything. He kicked things off with free fried cinnamon crisps. We started with the poached chicken and a cucumber salad. The chicken came out looking slightly different than the menu photo--shredded and a bit dry for being poached --but the cucumber salad came to redeem the appetizer round. Crunchy and delicious! Then came the dumplings: shrimp, pork & chive, and the tomato & beef (12 for $13.99). Both were hefty, doughy, and surprisingly... juicy inside? Like mini soup bombs. Surprisingly delicious and would 100% get them again. We also tried the pork and cabbage pot stickers, which were good, but the soupy dumplings were the real stars! Already plotting my return - can't wait to try the other menu items!! So many dumplings, so little time. Im so glad theres a new dumpling place in town!

Sooooo delicious. All of the dumplings are made to order. We had them make them as soup dumplings. When we ordered, the lady didn't speak English sp had to face time with someone tk translate, which was an excellent sign. We'l be back. Highly recommend.

First time trying Dumpling House ordered 3 various items to go. Flavors of food were delicious. Had to microwave since got cold on the way home. By microwaving the food the buns were a little dry. Next time need to eat at the restaurant. Spent $44 for my 3 dishes. A little bit pricey. But nice to try this place if you haven't been!

The restaurant is spartan..good for a clean no frazzle place to dine. Authentic Szechuan dishes. Family owned. They are new and outdated at the same time (a compaq desktop computer in the front is ancient!) service is good. When I dined there, it was quiet. The dumplings, onion pancakes, pig ears were all so delicious. I can't wait to come back and try their burgers!!

This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had on the island…read more I was shuffled between at least five different employees just to get seated, place an order, get a drink, and finally receive my food. I was dining alone and ordered only shrimp dumplings and a glass of Chardonnay, yet the wait was excessive. The wine arrived in what looked like a tasting-sized pour, and at $16 a glass, it felt particularly disappointing--especially since it was the only white wine option available. The restaurant itself felt neglected. The tables were wobbly, the décor was dated, there was a noticeable cigarette smell, and I even had to replace my own chopsticks after noticing lipstick on the pair initially provided. After waiting so long for my food, I stood up to ask for my check and cancel the order. At that point, the dumplings suddenly appeared, along with an offer of a fried bun as compensation. I declined and suggested they at least comp the wine given the experience, but they did not. The final bill was nearly $30 for a mediocre glass of wine and shrimp dumplings that were undercooked and unappetizing enough that I threw them away after a few bites. If you're looking for a quick meal before a movie, I'd strongly recommend going elsewhere. This was a disappointing waste of both time and money.
