We ended up going here because the bagel place across the street had too long of a line. I'm glad we did though because I definitely enjoyed my meal here. We sat outside where they had a nice covered patio. I got the mushroom gouda burger, but they didn't have mushrooms, so I guess it was just a gouda burger. I loved the burger, it was very juicy and flavorful. I typically like fries with my burgers, but they didn't have that as a side, so I got the rice and beans which was very bland. If they had better side options and faster service, I'd probably give this place 5 stars. read more

We stopped in for an app and cold beer. We ordered the chips with salsa and added queso. The salsa was excellent. It almost had a sweet after taste. The queso was thick, not creamy as expected. However it was ok. I would highly recommend the salsa, but skip the queso. Beer is cold and there plenty of local options. The entrees that we saw looked wonderful. But, truth be told, it was a bit too eclectic for our tastes. read more

What a surprise. A very pleasant one. Venison burger, tomato soup, ravioli and one chocolate torte that floored us. All were fabulous, all obviously constructed of high quality ingredients and that difference maker, the intangible of loving what one does. I rarely order ravioli and did so here on a pure whim. Pros: Delicious food (tomato Gouda bisque, love bug smoothie, shepherds pie)!! Relaxed atmosphere, nice music. Very attentive staff. Reasonable prices. Cons: Staff all pitches in and helps with everything (our waiter took us to our tables, took our order and bused another table while we were there), which can be a great thing but it can also lead to you missing parts of the order. We have had two meals while in town and both have been absolutely amazing! This place deserves higher reviews. We loved it so much that we had to go back a second time. I personally loved the veganista salad and the Tally Ho vegan tamale, both were top vegan meals I've ever had. I have no pictures because I ate both quickly. My partner also loved the tomato soup. The star is for the cute decor, and the food being edible. After the long wait for the food, we were starving and were able to eat it, but given that we had one only night to eat out in Boone on this trip, this place was a massive disappointment. And for what we received, the food was ridiculously overpriced. What we ordered, and what we got, was a bait & switch in terms of ingredients described and items received. The Aurora Berryalis smoothie had virtually no berry taste, probably made from frozen, and was clearly lacking the strawberries listed in the ingredients. The "homemade toast with jade lemon olive oil and avocado" was literally one slice of store-bought white bread, toasted and cut in half, dry, with three thin slices of avocado per toast half. No homemade bread, no olive oil, lemon-infused or no, and stingy on the avocado. The "mixed lettuce, spinach" in my salad was plain grocery store leaf lettuce. No spinach, no mix of lettuces. I won't go through each ingredient, and each dish, but of the five prepared items we ordered, four of them had significant ingredient changes and omissions from what was listed on the menu. Overall, we felt cheated by this place. We spent a lot of money for cheap, stingy ingredients, slow service, and very mediocre food. read more

Wild Craft Eatery on King Street in Boone is a great place to get unique food offerings that are tasty and filling and something different than your average restaurant. I really like the vibe and atmosphere of this place as it is vert welcoming and laid back and it feels like a home away from home. They have the option of eating inside or outside on a patio which is cool on a nice day as there is a lot going on and a good view of the main street and everyone going by. I really liked the food and what I was able to order and taste from everyone else's plates. Everything was delicious and I left with a smile on my face and wanting to come back and have some more. I would have given this establishment 5 stars if the hostess had not rolled her eyes when I asked, before sitting down at the table she led us to, if she would not seat us at the cramped corner table(my husband is 6'2" and 225). But, I digress... Our server had a lovely personality and we received excellent service! I ordered the Bison Chili and a Wedge Salad. Happened upon this place while in Boone last week & had one of THE best meals I've had in months!!! We've been on an epic road trip since August & have eaten out too many times, but this meal near the end of the trip was SO SO SO good!! Delicious food, friendly employees, and numerous options available. We decided to stop in while we were visiting App State. Our waitress was smiling and attentive. Along with other items, they have several vegan and vegetarian options available that are clearly marked on the menu. It took us a while to decide what we wanted to eat since there were so many tasty options available. I decided on their veganista salad and hot Jasmine tea and liked them both. The tea is brought out in the pot with the tea bag in it. This was great since then I could decide how long I wanted to steep it for. When I finished the tea, I was offered more hot water. I tried the tofu divinewich that my friend ordered and it was amazing! Overall, we enjoyed Watauga Farm Burger, Tofu Divinewhich, Lone Star Nachos, and Veganista. Only downsides were the flies since the restaurant was open (open doors and windows due to the nice weather) and we did not like the Tomato Gouda soup. Why on Earth am I the first to review this gem? Very high quality farm to table ingredients. This restaurant caters to vegetarians, vegans, gluten free, and meat eaters. The wife enjoyed a grass fed beef hamburger that was perfectly cooked and very high quality. I had the Garam Masala Yellow Curry (with Tofu as protein, others available) which was one of the most unusual meals I have had in some time: jasmine rice, spicy yellow curry with roasted yams, haricot vert, red bell peppers, kale & carrots, purple cabbage, mango & cashew. Very nicely sized portion. This was the on the special menu and regular menu. Very casual atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Attentive staff who knows the menu and offered recommendations. They do not take credit cards...to keep paying their staff a living wage. They have an atm that has a 50 cent fee to help. Bring cash or check. They have a great selection of local beers in bottles. Sat on the patio for a dinner date with a friend. It was a really pleasant day. I ordered the arroz con pollo and sangria and my friend had the Eiffel Tower salad.
