Taking a walk on a covid work lunch break is good but one on the way to Whole-ly Rollers bakery is great! Locally owned SWAM business steeped in faith and sweet carb goodness. They're best known for their dinner rolls and cinnamon buns made from same dough recipe. I've said it before and I'll say it again: legit bakeries are my happy place. Love the yeast infused aroma along with browsing glass cases full of artisan goodies. Covid precautions limit full shop entry which thwarts browsing but chatting with owner, Mrs Brenda, is super for your soul, though she's understandably reserved from a ton of convo in the pandemic climate. She's born/raised in GB and is record holder for hs girl's b-ball career points scored. Selection was semi-depleted (a good thing for business) but I managed to score 2 cinnamon buns ($5), 6 "small" cookies ($3), and 2 brownies ($5). Buns were very good, though I probably prefer Bee & the Biscuit's better. Icing on the side was a nice touch. My kids and I enjoyed the soft, fresh baked chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin varieties. Crispy cookie people may complain (we can't be friends, j/k). Fyi, they're probably 3-4" in diameter, definitely bigger than chips 'ahoy. Brownies were large, big enough to cut into 6 total good sized pieces for my entire clan to sample and enjoy. Soft, moist and cake like. Though pretty good, I wouldn't make a special trip just for these. Ghiradelli box from Costco is on par quality-wise and significantly cheaper. All in all, another local bakery I look forward to visiting more in the near future!

OMG... Carb heaven! Only going for the cinnamon roll, I whined up getting 1 dozen of the rolls, 7 up cake, cookies, and that cinnamon roll!! The yeast roll is so soft and fresh with a little sweetness. And if you don't watch it you will find yourself eating the whole bag before you get home. 7-up pound cake - I could of sworn my auntie said she invented that recipe but at 5 years old you believe in anything! But this cake was soooo good! Just like what I remembered my aunts homemade cake. Cinnamon roll - is a yeasty kind, for me similar to how the rolls are but with cinnamon on it. The icing is separate which was cool for me because it helped to control the amount you want like that helps any when your eating bad SMH. You can't go wrong with this bakery.

I've been here many years ago when it was still brand new. Our neighbors were telling me how good their dinner rolls and cinnamon buns are, so on a Saturday afternoon I stopped by to check out what they had. The smell alone that hits your nose would knock you off your feet! As I walked around the corner to the bakery case I saw the cinnamon buns! They looked amazing! I bought 3 of them for $7. They had plenty of other goodies such as 7-up cake, brownies, coconut custard and cookies. The cinnamon rolls were amazing! They were perfectly made. It didn't have any icing on top, which in hindsight is a good idea. It really didn't need it. Side note: Evidently they make cupcakes as well but only as a preorder. I was Yelping a bakery for cupcakes for my son's birthday and it came up as the address to this bakery. I noticed a sign on the window when I came in today. I'd love to try their cupcakes as well. Great bakery. Very friendly employees. Can't wait to come back!!

Loving the vibe in here. Well I didn't try the all the rave about yeast rolls. I thought I ordered a pack... Well I tried the coconut custard pie and the assortment of cookies. The coconut custard pie was not good at all. I could taste what I think was canned milk... no bueno. And the cost was crazy high! Now the cookies, all three of them were delicious. I loved the vibe and energy in the room. Everyone seemed excited about the grand opening. I haven't returned, but I do plan on giving them another try. On this day the sweet potato pies sold out and there was at least a 45 minute wait for more. They gladly accept cash or credit cards. I am unsure if any other payment methods are accepted. The shop is located in a Farmer's Market, therefore parking is limited. But I'd recommend you give this place a try. There are other shops inside of this shop unless they were only present for the grand opening. Nevertheless, there is another bakery in the Chesapeake area. Have fun and enjoy life :)

First, I just want to say congratulations on the opening of your second location in Norfolk! (Church Street guys, go visit!) and allowing some of my coworkers to welcome you and try some amazing goodies. Second of all, everything that I tried from Whole-ly Rollers was absolutely amazing, and I'm going to need to take my own trip down to Church Street and see how everything looks like. The cookies are just amazing. We all tried to share pieces of two whole cookies... We should have gotten more honestly. Definitely amazing. The apple pie that I tried was ridiculously amazing, and totally satisfied my cravings for apple pie without making me completely full! I highly, HIGHLY recommend going to check out both of their locations, whichever is more convenient for you. I'm close-ish to both, so I'll have to check out both. Awesome job!

Early Saturday morning Mr Wonderful dragged me out to pick up his car that was repairs and sitting at the dealer. Driving on 64S near Indian river exit I spied with my lil eye, a white work van with the company logo..ROLLS!! I quickly Google them and find they are located just too convenient for me. I drop him off, run to MP ISLAND grocery for my dried sorrell, and hightail it to WHOLLY ROLLERS. I took notice that they close at 3p, for heaven sake I only had 5 hrs to get there!!! Immediately I'm greeted with a cheery hello, and omg the scents of fresh baked rolls, pound cakes, cookies and cinnamon rolls. Bread pudding was still in the oven baking and I will be back to purchase one very very soon. The rolls accompanied us to a friends house for dinner and they were a big hit. With the homemade meal. The yeast rolls were gently warmed in the oven for 10 minutes ,just enough time to warm them and and allow real butter to melt thru. They are brushed with sweet cream butter so you really dont even need anything additional. The cinnamon rolls we enjoyed with coffee they were fresh and just the right cinnamon, icing on the side was excellent also so that I can control the amount of sugar I intake. For the remainder of the roll I chose not to use it and still totally enjoyed my cinnamon roll breakfast. My next trip will include a bread pudding. This place is a must go,

Hidden Gem for Sweet Tooths & Pup Parents!…read more We visited House of Marmalade as part of the Hampton Roads Passport Series, and I am so glad we did -- I don't think I would've discovered this little gem otherwise! The shop is small and cozy with no indoor seating, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in charm and incredible sweets. The bakery case was absolutely stunning -- full of beautifully made cookies, macarons, and more. We tried three macarons (espresso, almond, and salted caramel), and every single one was perfection -- fresh, flavorful, and just the right size and sweetness. We also grabbed a shortbread cookie, which was buttery and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. And let's not forget our pup! Lexi got a pumpkin cupcake with peanut butter icing, topped with a tiny bone-shaped treat -- not only adorable, but she devoured it. Definitely pup-approved! The staff was fantastic -- super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. You can tell they care about their craft and their customers. Whether you're doing the Passport Tour or just looking for a place to grab something sweet, House of Marmalade is absolutely worth the stop. We'll definitely be back!

Everything looked lovely, it was hard to decide on what to get. She had also just made some fresh pastries. I decided on some ube pendesal, and as I'm a sucker for tiramisu I also asked for that. She offered the fresh pendesal as well, which I couldn't say no to, so I got that as well. She was overall very nice. I saw the empanadas in the corner, and I know I'm already gonna have to come back to try more. She told me how to keep the pendesal fresh, and I thanked her and went to my car to try the breads. The fresh pandesal was amazing. Fluffy, light, warm, soft, a little sweet, just so good. The ube one was a little heavier, and had a halaya and cream cheese filling, which I just loved. It would've been better warm, but I was hungry and wanted to try things. I waited til I got home to try to tiramisu, and oh my god that is some of the best tiramisu I've had in the area. I tried one at the farmers market by an Italian lady, and I think this one is better. It has good ratios of everything. It's not drowning in coffee, the cream is nice and sweet, and it isn't too mushy. This will now be my go-to spot for tiramisu for sure. I can't wait to come back and try more!

It makes me really sad to write this review. I love to support small and local…read more I have only ever had their cupcakes sold individually at a Moyock farm market, but I've tried at least 5 different flavors. They always LOOK so delicious, fun and exciting! But...I have never in my life spit out a cupcake, or any kind of cake. I LOVE cake. First time trying them was a couple years ago, and they were unicorn-y looking, and sparkly, and gorgeous. But just not good. Thought I'd try them again 2 days ago and these 3 flavors: Ube, Strawberry (in case I didn't like the Ube), and Chocolate Cheesecake. The Ube was actually fine, and the best of the 3. But I still tossed half of it because it was so dry. SO dry, like sawdust. And sadly, I literally spit out the first bite of both the Strawberry and the Choc Cheesecake. Even drier than the Ube, but worse, they tasted...spoiled, if that's possible. Sadly, I only remembered to take a photo of the last one. I just don't understand! Most other reviews are so great! Maybe you have to order them fresh and not in a retail outlet. Or maybe the farm market gets them a week old or something... or the frosting is only good for one day. ?? Sad face.

She even helped me choose my cupcakes and answered any questions we had. I loved seeing all the examples of cakes they do, displayed throughout. I opted for a 4 pack. Whenever I am trying new cupcakes I have a method to my madness. I have to get a fruit one, a chocolate cake based, a vanilla cake based and a surprise. I ended up choosing a lemon cupcake, a vanilla cupcake, a chocolate cupcake and an Ube cupcake. The all tasted nice. The flavors were not over powering at all. I did not taste lemon in icing too much. Out of the 4 flavors I purchase, the Une was the best. Even my coworkers voted on the Ube cupcake being the best. The chocolate cupcake I chose... can't remember the flavor, but it was ok. It didn't wow me. I would definitely visit again.

After Sophia and I ate lunch at nearby GuangDong Taste, we had to stop by to see what items they had in stock. Let's see how the visit went. They hardly had any customers inside so it was quicky and easy. They greeted us once we walked in and we immediately looked at what they had available. Staff was busy in the back with a few behind the counter. Sounds like a normal day here which is great. I actually had a few choices but decided to order some turon, which is a crispy banana fritter. I had it at a restaurant years ago and actually enjoyed. I actually didn't eat it until later where it lost its crispiness after being warmed up, but nonetheless it was delicious. Just enough banana inside and not too sweet from the brown sugar. Exactly the right amount for evening dessert. Great staff and great vibes all around here every time we come by. The girls behind the register were also very friendly and helpful (thank you!).
