How this got 4 stars is beyond me. We stopped for lunch, hoping for some decent if not good BBQ. Brisket was tough and had no seasoning. The pulled chicken was chunks of chicken breast with no seasoning and just a tiny tiny bit of smoke flavor. I will give some credit because it wasn't dry. The smoked green beans were cooked to mush with some kind of meat in them and again, no flavor. Cheesy corn was just ok. Fried okra was typical deep fried, and credit for not being slimy. Soda machine yielded tasteless sodas.We did get our order quickly, served to our table by a nice enough kid in pj pants. I sincerely hope we just caught them on a really bad day and this isn't representative of Missouri BBQ. read more

This was my favorite bbq place at one point. I was so excited to take my family here after church because we hadn't been in a while. It was so disappointing. The employees were unfriendly and not patient. Even though there was no line, the grumpy cashier seemed irritated that we weren't ready, and we were waiting for my daughter, who was using the restroom. We ordered our food (almost $70). we had a couple of pulled pork sandwiches, a two item combo, and my daughter ordered bbq fries. The food came out fairly fast. They gave my daughter chips instead of fries, but we let it go. All of the sides were hot and tasted good. They still have the best cheesey corn here. The meat was cold and flavorless. It was only made better with tons of bbq sauce. We have been here many times in the past. It was always good but yesterday was unacceptable. To begin, I believe this establishment has been crippled by all of the road construction in the area, so it may be an unfair time to review. We arrived around 6, but the place was dead. All of the people working there were friendly and accommodating, and the prices are very reasonable. The food took way too long to be served considering that there were no lines of patrons. The kitchen produced the food in a sporadic, one at a time method, which made eating in a small group somewhat awkward. A survey of my group indicated quite a variation in quality; ribs were rated excellent. Brisket was OK but dry and overcooked like roast beef. Pulled pork was good but dry. Sausage had good flavor but looked old and re-heated. None of the meat dishes or sides arrived hot- only barely warm, which is troubling. Potato salad and coleslaw were both excellent, and served very cold. Beans were good. Fried potatoes were horrible- nobody touched them. My conclusion is that Whole Hog could go either way. All of the pieces are in place to have a great restaurant, yet the experience still falls short on a number of levels. My instincts tell me that there is a lack of management presence which is contributing to these inconsistencies. If you catch them on a good day, you will get some great Barbecue. read more

I had a small amount of beef brisket a few potatoes and a brownie and a soda and it was almost $17. My friends had the pulled chicken and it was an edible for both of them.
