The catfish was absolutely delicious, fresh and made to order. The restaurant concept is not average. Staff needs more training on welcoming. Can't assume everyone walking in knows the process of the restaurant especially if your restaurant process isn't the norm. To begin, I believe this establishment has been crippled by all of the road construction in the area, so it may be an unfair time to review. We arrived around 6, but the place was dead. All of the people working there were friendly and accommodating, and the prices are very reasonable. The food took way too long to be served considering that there were no lines of patrons. The kitchen produced the food in a sporadic, one at a time method, which made eating in a small group somewhat awkward. A survey of my group indicated quite a variation in quality; ribs were rated excellent. Brisket was OK but dry and overcooked like roast beef. Pulled pork was good but dry. Sausage had good flavor but looked old and re-heated. None of the meat dishes or sides arrived hot- only barely warm, which is troubling. Potato salad and coleslaw were both excellent, and served very cold. Beans were good. Fried potatoes were horrible- nobody touched them. My conclusion is that Whole Hog could go either way. All of the pieces are in place to have a great restaurant, yet the experience still falls short on a number of levels. My instincts tell me that there is a lack of management presence which is contributing to these inconsistencies. If you catch them on a good day, you will get some great Barbecue. read more

I used to like this place, but their service has gone downhill in recent years. Last night I decided I wanted some BBQ when to their drive thru, waited 10 minutes, gave my order and paid. I then waited for 20 minutes with no sign from the restaurant staff. I had to call them to get someone to come back, Chris came back, and told me that the person who took my order never gave my order to the kitchen. I asked for a refund as at this point I didn't want to wait any longer. Chris didn't say anything just zeroed out my order, thrust a small strip of paper in my hand and slammed the window. I had a small amount of beef brisket a few potatoes and a brownie and a soda and it was almost $17. My friends had the pulled chicken and it was an edible for both of them.
