I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it was not what I experienced. Cafe Cubano is more of a drive-thru only kind of establishment that specializes in Cuban cuisine and fancy coffees. The service was quick and polite, and they were patient with someone who wasn't quite sure what to order. I ultimately went with the classic Cuban but did not venture into the coffees or drinks. The sandwich was good, but that's really about it. Shredded pork, ham, mustard, pickles and cheese. Simple as that. It was good but nothing noteworthy or really anything that stood out. I would recommend Cafe Cubano is you're looking for an alternative to the typical chain restaurants, but don't expect anything over the top. read more

Nice little treasure nestled outside a mini mall in Springfield. Went there to try their Authentic Cuban Sandwich as it filled all the boxes. Savory pork combined with fresh ham with just the right amount of mustard all squeezed into thin slices of Cuban Bread. I got the six inch, as I am watching how much I eat these days, and it filled me up fine. The inside is small and cozy but has plenty of seats. I didn't get a chance to try the Cuban pastries or Cuban Coffee but witnessed plenty on people coming in asking for it. read more

The owner and I shared memories of growing up in Tampa while he made my order. Bread straight from Ybor City - what could be better. I haven't been here in years. The last time I visited was at their old location. I remember feeling kinda meh about it last time and I would share that sentiment now. It's definitely not bad. But I also wouldn't go out of my way for it. I only came because it was a location for the Springfield Coffee Fest this year, so I got my iced Cafe Con Leche for free and then I bought a sandwich for lunch. The girl who took my order seemed very stressed at the moment. The sandwich is good, but nothing I can't make myself at home. The traditional Cuban sandwiches might be better, but I'm a picky eater, so I went basic. The coffee is decent but not anything incredible. They do have a few tables inside to sit at as well as a drive through. It definitely has a diner-like feel to it. read more

Country Girls Espresso (CGE) was worth the wait! We came for the coffee during the Ozark Coffe Trail event but left with a lot more! Its a small hole-ine-the wall shop, that has 5 tables, each with 4 chairs around them. There's also a counter on the opposite side of the chef's kitchen, but no bathroom that I could see from the front. Limited parking for the business, but there is adjacent parking and a drive-thru. We were surprised about all the coffee options/variety since there website was inaccessible and both found safe choices with their additive flavors (a Banana/PB frappe and a toasted marshmallow latte). We also learned the CGE is known for the home-made Cuban sandwiches.. and wowee, it was delicious. My first bite into my Miami Club (pressed), actually made me say "Mmm". Chef Mike and Employee Sammi were really giving it their all despite a full house in the buikding and out the drive-thru! read more

I travel a lot, and I see a lot of Yelp reviews that seem to sometimes overstate things based on a reviewer's limited exposure to the world. "Best Ever!" takes on a new aspect in a small town well off the usual paths, for example. I say that to put Country Girl into perspective: The Cafe con Leche here is second to none. Seriously. And the Cuban sandwich too. Cuban sandwiches, if you're not familiar, are not big fancy affairs with piles of stuff on them to make them "great". On the contrary, these are very simple sandwiches that depend on just a few ingredients done well. In one way of looking at these, there are no bad Cuban sandwiches, only that some are far better than others.
