I travel a lot, and I see a lot of Yelp reviews that seem to sometimes overstate things based on a reviewer's limited exposure to the world. "Best Ever!" takes on a new aspect in a small town well off the usual paths, for example. I say that to put Country Girl into perspective: The Cafe con Leche here is second to none. Seriously. And the Cuban sandwich too. Cuban sandwiches, if you're not familiar, are not big fancy affairs with piles of stuff on them to make them "great". On the contrary, these are very simple sandwiches that depend on just a few ingredients done well. In one way of looking at these, there are no bad Cuban sandwiches, only that some are far better than others. Definitely exceeded my expectations. The owner was extremely nice and very helpful. He literally gave me samples of everything and even the pork, which I hadn't ordered. The pork was fantastic. I ordered the Country Girls Sandwich with guava (he gave me a sample of the guava to make sure I liked it first) it was also fantastic. And I ordered a Cafe con Leche because of the reviews on here. It was okay. Not really my thing, but I have never had a Cafe con Leche before, so I don't have anything to base it on. He did make me try it before I left to make sure I liked it. :) Which, it was too hot and burned my tongue, but oh well! Basically, everything was fantastic. I was a little skeptical going to an espresso place for some good Cuban food, but it definitely paid off. This food is amazing and Mike (the owner) is one of the nicest guys I've met. He was born and raised in Tampa, FL and brought the authentic Cuban cuisine with him. We ended up getting a Café Con Leche coffee as well which was incredible. Let's state the obvious: the name of this place is ridiculous. No matter how you try to explain it or justify-it's not good and kept me away from it. Hearing the owner explain it is almost patronizing to anyone from this area. I firmly believe this venture would take off like a rocket if he'd just go with something like "Cubans and Coffee". I grew up in Florida and enjoyed eating Cuban sandwiches. I get cravings from time to time and I have been unable to find an authentic Cuban sandwich here in Springfield. My search is over. The sandwich I had yesterday was GREAT. Quality meats and cheeses were used. The bread was fresh and shipped in from Forida. The flavour and presentation reminded me of home. I ordered a bananas foster frappe and it tasted like ice and banana blended together with nothing else added. I make almond milk and banana smoothies at home (no other ingredients) that are sweeter & creamier, so that was a disappointing almost four bucks that went straight into a nearby garbage can. My husband went with a large Cuban coffee and it was like bad gas station coffee with too much creamer in it. He expected coffee made strong and delicious. What a let down. The service was quick, which accounts for that second star, but the ladies working seemed a little annoyed when I took more than 5 seconds to order on my first ever visit. I see a lot of raves about their Cuban sandwiches and would be willing to give this place a second shot, but for now two stars is all I can do. We drank far less than 1/4 of the two drinks we ordered here so I can't put a bright spin on it. read more

Amazing sandwiches! While the Cuban might be the most popular on the menu, I highly recommend the Country Girl club with guava - flavor explosion is incredible and unexpected. There beans are a medium roast, which means they are not burn. They have the smoothest coffee in town. They also have the least expensive prices I have seen in any coffee shop in the area. Every time my family comes through Springfield on our way to my wife's family's place I insist we stop here. Nothing fancy, not particularly exciting, but that Cubano is crazy good. It's one of those things that you don't think about most of the time but out of the blue you'll suddenly be overcome by a serious jones for it that won't let go till you get it and nothing else will do. Just awesome. Nothing bad to say. The Cuban was amazing! The only authentic ethnic food in Springfield. Owner roasts his own pork daily and its just super good. I went in to order and he and the Batista/waitress were so nice and funny. I ordered my Cuban and he cut off a piece before he wrapped my sandwich so he could watch me try it. You can tell he just love what he does and it really shows in the food. I also had a white mocha and it was such a nice change from that stale burnt Starbucks flavor. Very mild and smooth. Mike makes the best sandwiches in town. Also his cafe con leche is wonderful and I don't normally enjoy any coffee! I actually jones for a cup on Sunday's when CG isn't open. I had my first Cuban sandwich about 15 years ago and was always trying them anytime they were on a menu and never satisfied locally. Then Country Girls arrived and someone who had actually been raised on Cubans in Florida knew what he was doing and crafted a proper Cuban sandwich. The correct bread, the right seasoning in the pork, the right type of ham and a proper ratio of pickles mustard and cheese. Yay! Then Mike had me try the Country Girl and my mind was blown. This is a sandwich that sounds odd but comes together in an orgy of flavor that is perfection. Really try it! There is a similarity to a Monte Cristo sandwich in that those ingredients sound like a trainwreck but end wonderfully if done properly, a rare feat Mike is willing to make any sandwich he has ingredients to make which is fun because you can mix and match hoping to invent a new wonderful combination. Would give a 0 if possible - The worst experience. We visited for the first time when thete were no oyher customers and were ignored while over 6 teenagers inside played and screamed behind the counter. We were never greeted, weren't able to see the menu behind the over occupied counter, and never got to experience what may be good coffee. This place is a convenient location to grab coffee on the go. Short lines and great service. This perfect when in route going west bound on Sunshine street, you can pull up, get a drink quickly and get right back to the route of your destination. You wouldn't know it from the store but this place sells some of the best sandwiches in town. Had a Cuban pork sandwich and it was amazing. A lot of places make regional dishes by adding a bunch of extra stuff. These guys use simple ingredients, but do it right, bread they get from Miami (the owner will tell you all about it given half a chance :) ) and perfectly seasoned pork. I read and heard such good things about Country Girls, I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was incredible. The pork was seasoned beautifully and melted in my mouth. You won't find a Cuban sandwich anywhere around here that is as authentic and yummy as this was. The bread is awesome and is imported for this delicious sandwich. Mike, the owner is friendly and helpful and described all the wonderful offerings of sandwiches, coffees, muffins, smoothies, and other menu items. The Cuban was good but didn't blow me away. The espresso was not good. Probably the worst I've ever had. I suppose that doesn't matter if you take your espresso with sugar or syrup.
