I bought a purse made by Lisa Gallegos, her brand being Lalish. It has the Pomona 6Ps logo. Well-made with a detachable strap and inside zipper pocket, for $25. And their prices were very reasonable. In the back of the store they had people working on live art pieces. I love this place! Pomona is lucky to have such a unique space.

We scrambled for a last-minute change of plans, and it turned out to be absolutely perfect. They were incredibly accommodating: we hosted the birthday party right in the studio, decorated the space, brought our own food and non-alcoholic drinks, and set up a special designated area for the birthday girl and her friends. Laura and Bob were beyond patient and so helpful with the kids, guiding them every step of the way to make sure everything came out just right. The selection of pottery pieces is huge (overwhelming in the best way) and they even surprised us with a complimentary plate featuring all her friends' little fingerprints. What a thoughtful touch! It was such a fun, creative day, and everyone stayed nice and dry. Highly recommend for families, especially when plans go sideways.

I found Carpe Diem. The store is small and off a highway in some industrial shops. It's not a huge shop but is not limited in what they have. They are also open every other day due to schools being out of session. And they ask for your drivers license when you go in... I'm not sure why... but it is what it is. I think they require student ID if you're a student. They said they gave teacher discounts too but I was not offered anything when I went in. They had everything I needed and more. I like to get copic refills, and they have them behind the counter. I'm sure it's to prevent theft. Michael's and Blick does the same thing. You can find all the painting and illustration supplies you need. They have a selection of craft woods and tools along with clay, etc.... Carpe Diem is my new home base for the art supply. I'll definitely send my design students here and will be back for all my artistic supplies.

I walked up to the front door 3 min early to wait. They let me in a minute early unexpectedly, which was kind. My mission? To order balloons for a friend's husband's 60th birthday which is happening at another friend's house tomorrow. Rebecca helped me at the front, explaining how I choose balloons, pay for them, and then she would fill out an order form for my exact request. Latex balloons are 12 for $12. I decided I wanted the mylar ones because my friend wanted gold and silver balloons and they were shinier. I chose 1 round black one with 60 on it and silver and gold confetti design, then two gold and three silver balloons of different shapes. I'll post pictures of them when I pick them up tomorrow. I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. Rebecca was kind, patient, and helpful. I also purchased the weights to hold the balloon arrangements since the party would be outside. You can choose what color ribbon so I chose matching as opposed to white. I'm thrilled Michael's has balloons now! It's super convenient. You order ahead of time in person or online (not on the phone). Additional notes on pickup day: the balloons were ready for 1p.m. pickup as requested. Very pleased with the result. Glad I bought the weights because it ended up being breezy today so they came in handy. Thank you, Michaels! It was a welcome addition to my friend's 60th birthday party (60 guests!)

The other day I was in Micheal's La Verne waiting for my ride when another costumer was talking about the stores and Joan's closing. I told her this Micheal's would be my favorite if only they carried fabric. One of the employees walked by and overhead the conversation and said to us "OH we would be carrying fabric starting next month. That was in January. Employees are very helpful and friendly, and can often be seen restocking merchandise. I initially signed up because I thought the tree was cute and wanted some more Christmas decor, and the price of the workshop was really reasonable, so I thought why not? The workshop far exceeded my expectations in terms of ease and information! Michele was super knowledgeable about the materials/paint/techniques, and it inspired me to start dabbling into the idea of painting some of my own furniture. Or at least some of my own pieces rather than buying them at Hobby Lobby! :p It was super easy to pick up the materials, and there was more than enough leftover for using the materials for another DIY project.
