Loved our experience at wheatfields. Made a last minute reservation for a Friday night of Belmont weekend. We arrived about 10 min early and initially they said our table wasn't ready yet. We asked if outdoor seating was option and there was 1 open spot. Great for people watching. The food was amazing and very filling. I ordered a mojito that was undrinkable on first try, it tasted like pure lime juice and lime lol I told the waitress and she apologized all over herself and had a new one made that was much better. After 15/20 minutes of no one coming over we decided to leave. The table seated next to us was seated after us and already had water and their order taken. The host was walking by and I said that no one had been to our table. He looked at me and walked away. I went back to the hostess stand and told that we were leaving since no one had been to us. He just looked at me and looked away. I waited a few seconds and got no response. I said "an apology would have been acceptable". A girl there said "i don't know why no one came over". Simply the best burger I've had in a long time. It was cooked perfectly medium with a smothering of lightly grilled cheese on top. The vegetable were fresh and the fries were outstanding! We were visiting in the area and Yelp reviewers recommended Wheatfields as celiac friendly. We did not make reservations however the hostess (I can't remember her name maybe Lauren) was lovely! She was so pleasant and told us the wait would be about 15 minutes. Our waiter was Montana, and he listened to our concerns about cross contamination. He reassured us that the food was prepared separately and he seemed very knowledgeable. I must say their cheeseburgers are to die for i had mine over salad. My two daughter enjoyed their cheddar burgers and I was so happy as I watched my daughter who has celiac's disease enjoy fresh gluten free bread warmed with butter. She hardly ever gets to do that unless we drive into NYC. My husband had their lasagna and it was so delicious. I had the half chicken chopped salad (generous portions). Montana came over a few times and chatted with us and asked if we needed anything. The ambience of this restaurant was a mix of classy and casual and not overly crowded on a Friday night. The waitress was very friendly, however the specials for the evening did not have prices listed and when the waitress went over the specials, she did not offer the prices. Two of us ordered the salmon special thinking it would be in the range of the other menu items (maybe $5 more). However, when we got out bill we saw that the price of the salmon special was $40. That was a big surprise. I am sorry to say that my husband and I had one of the worst dining experiences at Wheatfields today for lunch. Because the weather was beautiful, we wanted outdoor seating at a nice place downtown. After waiting a good 10 minutes for a host to acknowledge us and be seated outside, we waited another 10 minutes for our waitress to come take our order. When our appetizer came, she admitted she dropped some of our toasted bread while bringing out our food, and promised to bring more out. She never did. We ordered an Italian pamini with truffle fries to split, and after waiting another 20 minutes, we were brought the veggie panini with chips- she never checked back in with us, or asked if we needed our waters or wine refreshed. after. We waited about 10 minutes after our food was brought out for her to check on us and possibly rectify the mistake. Our waitress never came back. My husband brought the incorrect entree to the host station, explaining the mistake and asking for our waitress to come to our table to verify the correct order to be made properly. After another 10 minutes of no attention, I put cash on the table for the 2 glasses of wine and incomplete appetizer we did receive, and we left. As locals, we try very hard to support small businesses in the area, but the lack of basic service will make it impossible to return to or recommend Wheatfields. read more

Made reservations online for dinner for my husband and I. We were seated promptly on arrival. Staff was friendly. We ordered the the ricotta, white pizza and Famous 1lb lasagna. Our server asked if we wanted to try the bolognese topping and I said yes. Holy moly meat topping. I did not realize the sauce would add an extra 3lbs to the lasagna haha. It didn't look the prettiest but tasted delicious. The white pizza wasn't the best, dry and had a ton of parmesean, so I wouldn't recommend it but the lasagna was tasty. Great service, food arrived quickly and we had a lovely server. Sat outside on the porch and had a gentleman come up and the play the violin for us. We tried the calamari and bread, which were both delicious. Loved the seasoning of the calamari and the herbed butter. Had the pan seared branzino fish tonight which was a special and to say it was disappointing is an understatement. 36.00 and it may have weighed 4 oz . I'm not a big eater but I left hungry. Fish was dry and was served with something that looked like kasha but not sure. Did I mention they charge extra for bread. Our bill was 105.00 . My wife had an antipasto which was good but not great. Had a very nice evening at Wheatfields this evening. This was my first time there and I was pleasantly surprised. Overall a nice time, adequate food ( despite the high MP on the scallops and mediocre flavor on the Marsala) and a comfortable atmosphere in beautiful downtown Saratoga. The wine selection was decent and made for a "raucous" evening for these pentagenarians. As I said, the mp on the scallops seemed a bit high ($44 for grape-sized scallops) and the chicken Marsala dish, while adequate, left me wanting for more flavor. Others on our group had a nice burger and their infamous 1-pound Lasagna. Waitstaff (Jaspar) was very nice and satisfactory, however hoped that Wheatfields would have risen to the occasion as Saratoga is literally on the world stage over the next 48 hours hosting the final jewel of the Triple Crown. Stopped in for brunch on a Sunday. Okay experience overall - nothing to write home about either positively or negatively. The ambiance was fairly comfortable. Not too loud which we appreciated. Our server was fine, if a little overbearing. Good tea selection. I was there with my family and we all thought the food was decent. I got the spinach omelet which was a very generous portion. Home fries were good too, nice and crispy but a little small for my personal preference. Courtney has been our server a few times, and she's always engaging and friendly, not just with us but all the tables surrounding. I ordered a Guiness. It was room temperature, and the glass was about 1/3 foam. I guess if you're Irish you might drink it this way, but I like it chilled, and that's usually how it is served. Bread and butter is not gratis here, it's a menu item ($3). It was nice, served warm with garlic butter and olive oil for dipping. We also got the eggplant stack app ($15) which was very good. However, after that things started to go awry. To my surprise, our entreés came one minute after our appetizer, which we hadn't even begun to eat. The server brought them to the table and asked if we wanted them now, or should she take them back to the kitchen where, presumably, they would sit under a heat lamp. We said to leave them. I got the fettucini bolognese. The sauce was hearty, but needed salt, and the pasta was overcooked. No grated cheese was offered, until I asked. We still had food in front of us when we were asked more than once if we were done. We declined dessert, but my wife ordered a cordial, after which the check was dropped. We sat for a bit before paying, and were still out the door after pre-meal drinks, a two-course dinner, and the after-dinner drink in less than an hour.
