burger, the best item
Andrea H.

Waited way too long to try Hamlet & Ghost. Started with the dirty martini and it was one of the best I've had. Their house brine for the martini... so smooth! Started with an order of the fried cheese curd and they were also amazing. They were very light and flavorful. Lastly, the smashburger is really the show case. All 3 of us ordered the burger, just make sure you get the duck fat fries. The dinning space is not tight or clustered either. Our server was very friendly and offered good recommendations as well. I'll be back.

This is our favorite place in town for a special night out! Make a reservation because it's going to be packed. But if you want that NYC cocktail bar vibe this is the place. They do a lot of interesting things on their menu but we enjoy the burger + bacon as our favorite in town. Known for their cocktails, but they've also expanded their mocktail menu and this is my favorite place to get a mocktail in town. It's never overly sweet and always has the interesting flavors you'd want from your drink. Highly recommend for a special occasion - get a reservation though! Even the bar seats have wait lists.

Beautiful bar. Attentive staff. Met a cool local who gave us other recommendations. Cheese curds and espresso martini to die for. No reservation and was texted when a seat at the bar was ready. Would come back for dinner or drinks anytime they'd have us.

Charcuterie board with local cheeses. Seared scallops with celery root puree, cayenne pepper, bacon rillons and shallot petals.

Okay I wish Yelp had the options for 1/2 stars. I would have done a 4.5. Overall I really liked this place a lot! The food was excellent! It's really rare that I get to say that. I did not have a single critique. The atmosphere is cute inside, very quaint and semi-exclusive. The service was fairly indifferent on the other hand. It was absolutely slammed but my understanding is that it's always that way. I made sure to make reservations for my party over a month in advance! This is not a place you can just walk into for sure! But please make a reservation and check it out for yourself!

I can't say enough about Hamlet and Ghost and I am not an easy person to impress. The intimate lighting and stylish decor create an inviting space that feels both special and comfortable--perfect for a date night or a celebratory dinner with friends. The drinks were very good. Each cocktail is crafted with precision, utilizing fresh ingredients and innovative combinations. Whether you prefer something classic or are in the mood for a daring concoction, the skilled mixologists here have you covered. Each dish we ordered was not only a feast for the eyes but also an unforgettable experience for the taste buds. The ingredients are clearly sourced with care, and you can taste the quality in every bite. The chefs have managed to master the balance of flavor, texture, and presentation, making each dish a singular entity of culinary artistry. Impeccable service is another hallmark of Hamlet and Ghost. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely enthusiastic about the food and drink offerings. In conclusion, Hamlet and Ghost is an extraordinary dining destination that masterfully combines outstanding drinks, unforgettable food, and impeccable service in a memorable atmosphere. The complexity and texture of the dishes will linger in your memory, prompting you to return again and again. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough--if you're looking to treat yourself to an extraordinary culinary experience, this is the place to be.

Why consider any other food when you can eat the best fried cheese curds and duck fat fries at Hamlet & Ghost? Simply unbeatable.

The food was extremely flavorful! Clams with kimchi was my favorite dish! Each dish is very unique and you can tell the amount of thought that goes into each dish! Burger wasn't the best I've ever had but still good. Make sure to get a reservation. The ambiance is 10/10! Perfect for a date night.

Best oyster preparation I've ever had. The kind of delicious that is hard to share when your bites are numbered. They were also very helpful at avoiding allergens (gluten, soy and dairy).

Oh what can I say the drinks were fresh and amazing spot on and creative. The food was just as on par as the drinks. Quick friendly staff and a beautiful intimate place make reservations it fills up.

My wife and I are from out of town and the only reason we happened to end up here is because of high praise from a friend who is a local in this area. We made a same day reservation for outside seating but we didn't anticipate how hot it would still be during the evening in this heat wave. Luckily, the staff here seems to have great attention to detail because they texted us warning us about the heat and asked if we wanted to change our seating to indoors. We said yes and got there slightly before our reservation time and were seated at the bar after a few minutes. The burger was highly recommended by our friend. I had just had a burger in downtown Albany for lunch but this one was miles better and exceeded expectations. The beef was super tender and juicy. I would definitely come back just for that. My wife had the aguachiles which she enjoyed. I had a bite of it and if you are into seafood, it was a great small dish. For drinks, my wife had the Oaxaca Sour which was a mezcal based cocktail. It was great and I highly recommend it if you enjoy a bit of smokiness in your drink. I had a cold brew/iced coffee since I was tired from The travel. It was very strong and definitely kept me awake on the drive back to the hotel. Overall I'd come back the next time I'm in town!

Ask the Community - Hamlet & Ghost

Are walk-ins allowed at the bar?

Your best bet is to plan to go right when they open and wait out front. I waited outside for them to open from 445-5 and there was a line of probably 10 people behind me.

Do they do $1 oysters?

$2.00 oysters during happy hour plus 4% of your bill added on for Kitchen Administration fee and further sales tax and tip.

What a gem. What a vibe. WHAT a cocktail menu…read more Tucked away, totally unpretentious, but with a STAGGERING, almost-unbelievable range of martinis and martini-adjacent cocktails in this fall/winter-perfect, cozy, mostly-paneled speakeasy that's also evocative of a semi-secret lobby bar of an old hotel (it's not though!) Even the music selections made it sound like prohibition era jazz standards were drifting in from another room. It manages to be simultaneously totally old school and totally hip, fancy-feeling and swanky, but also with the ease of a local watering hole... no easy feat. From t-shirts to suits, locals to newbies, it has a totally come-as-you-are, everybody's-welcome atmosphere. Even the locals made us feel at home, giving us great insight into several restaurants all less than a block or two away. Wines and beers also available, but mixology is the main act here. We were there over two separate bartender shifts, both times on a quiet Sunday late-afternoon into evening, but both gents have it all down to a science without forsaking the art of crafting a cocktail. They pushed my formerly-favorite Manhattan (at NYC's King Cole Bar, there, as much for the environs as the drink) squarely out of the top spot, and as I told our bartender after I spied a semi-hidden bottle of Chartreuse and he offered to make an off-the-menu Last Word, it was the first time I fully understood that drink. That hard-to-find liquid green-gold is in VERY good hands at 9 Maple! Perfect for date night, but also welcoming to the lone visitor in search of a PERFECTLY crafted, amply -poured cocktail. Eat before you arrive, or pop back after dinner for a nightcap. Although we were there for off-season, an outdoor courtyard hints at higher traffic when the weather's warmer and the horses are racing. And even off-season, Jazz band nights attract a crowd. This place should really be on more national Top Cocktail Bars lists. It's that good.

We had a gin martini and a pistachio martini, both were amazing and very fair pricing as well. So happy we found this spot. It's small, but wonderful and intimate. Finally had a chance to try Kindred last week(end)…read more I was honestly won over when we first walked in....we didn't have a reservation but asked if they could accommodate two for dinner. The hostess/server was awesome: not pretentious and looking down her nose at us since we didn't have a reservation. She did say that she needed the table by 7 PM. No problem! That said, it was pretty busy for being early in the evening. Guests kept coming in as we were getting ready to depart. The food that we tried was very good: -the chips with crème fraîche were very nice, but I don't know that I would go out of my way for these again. I really enjoyed the chips themselves... very thin and light ...and quite salty (in a good way). A little bit of fish roe is mixed in for "extra saltiness" and a little bit of a fishy experience in the crème fraîche. -Brussel sprouts for me were the winner! Absolutely delicious and we added some chicken so that we'd have a little bit of protein. Grilled chicken was perfectly flavored and not dry at all. Brussels sprouts had just the right amount of char and umami. -flatbread was honestly my least favorite. We stuck with the basic burrata/Margherita pizza/flatbread, and after eating the brussels sprouts it just didn't hold up in terms of flavor. Some of the other options might be better if you're looking for more of a flavor punch.... but it was served steaming, hot, and freshly made. As more people showed up, it definitely got noisier... so prepare for a bit of a loud environment...pretty much the same situation in all downtown Saratoga restaurants these days. I will definitely go back and try some other items on the menu.

I had a seasonal apple flavored cocktail that didn't have much apple flavor. We got two entrees to share. The squash ravioli is out of this world!! Seriously delicious, really great flavor, loved the pepitas! The steak frites was disappointing. The potatoes and aioli were good but the steak came out cold, a bit over done, and chewy. Service was really kind, our server was friendly and answered all our questions.

I'd come back just for the rolls, they were so soft, fluffy, and light with the perfect flaky salt on top to balance with the whipped honey butter. Delicious! Everything else was also great, the hanger steak is also tender and loved the hash that came with it and the crab spaghetti had ample crab meat in it. Presentation was gorgeous.
