This is a cozy upscale restaurant. Its very cute and out in the forest a bit hidden, you'd never know its there. The wait staff is very attentive. I was impressed how the managers would assist the wait staff. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They allowed me to make an adjustment on my order which was very kind. Everything tasted great! No complaints there. But the bathroom stalls are very small and I hit my head on the coat hanger. That was my only issue. Overall a great experience! Would highly recommend to anyone. I did not consider it overpriced either, very reasonable. Especially when comparing to NYC prices

We came to the Wishing Well for Easter dinner with my in laws. I didn't catch our servers name but he was great! The drinks were good, I had their specialty margarita and my husband had a Bourbon and pear beverage. For dinner I had the filet mignon, it had a good crust. The best part was the light lobster salad. I wish it had a little more lobster but it was still good. My husband had the ham Easter special, which was spectacular. I really appreciated the thin sliced pieces. We also got family sides with the lobster Mac and Cheese and the Brussels sprouts. Since it's a holiday we got dessert and my husband and I split the carrot cake, which was decent.

I've driven by The Wishing Well so many times over the years that I can't even think of trying to count how many. I always thought it was more geared towards a more "mature" audience and was just basic "American" food. Well, it definitely leans "American" and the people that I saw in the restaurant were more "mature", but I wanted to give it a try. That said, we're only doing takeout these days, so we ordered online: two appetizers and two entrees. The appetizers were the beet salad and crab cake; entrees were the burger/fries and fish tacos. First - the quality of everything was excellent; albeit cold by the time it got to the house. That said, we understand that it's takeout and make necessary adjustments. I was able to deconstruct the burger and fries to heat that up in the oven successfully. Everything else was OK at room temperature/cold. We really enjoyed the crab cake - it was not greasy and the accompanying salad was very tasty. The only thing that I would have changed (and I should have asked for ) was the aioli on the side instead of under the crab cake (so it really couldn't be reheated). The beet salad was also excellent - nice amounts of chèvre, mixed greens and, of course, beets. The vinaigrette that was served on the side was mild but very tasty. My fish tacos were blackened as advertised and were quite delicious; there were 2 of them. The jalapeños were gigantic - I would have cut these a bit smaller as they were fresh and had quite a kick. But overall, I really enjoyed the fish tacos. The burger was gigantic and got great reviews. The slab bacon served with it was was really good - as were the fries. I ate a bunch of the fries and had to snag a couple of slivers of the slab bacon. It was served with a big hunk of iceberg lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles. The bun was absolutely delicious - buttery and soft but sturdy. I could have made a meal out of that bun and the fries. They also included a bag with bread that I assume is served complimentary when seated. Bread was good - I did a quick heat in the oven on that as well. Quick kudos also to the choice of take-out boxes - everything was recyclable and /or eco-friendly. The ambiance is really nice - dark wood, cozy rooms, tablecloths - "old school" vibes. It has been around since the 1930's, after all. When this covid craziness is over, I'd love to visit the Wishing Well to enjoy a meal along with the overall experience.

Make sure you have a reservation! The service was top notch & the food was fabulous. Fresh local vegetables & fruits were on the specials menu since it was summer time. I had the filet & it was cooked perfectly, served with fresh corn on the cob, mashed potatoes & green beans. My blackberry margarita was to die for! We finished our meal with the peach shortcake, the peaches were juicy & sweet, the shortcake was mostly just a biscuit, but overall still good.

filtet mignon with mashed potatoes & asparagus

This was our first time having dinner at the Wishing Well. It was our anniversary so we wanted an upscale restaurant. We were not disappointed. We started with the pate - a generous portion and it was excellent with all of the accoutrements. For dinner my husband got the braised short ribs served over polenta The short ribs melted in your mouth, and were so tasty. I ordered the 8 oz filet mignon au poivre. It was served over mashed potatoes and asparagus. Again, the meat melted in your mouth. cooked perfectly medium rare. At about 5:30 a man began playing the piano and singing, setting the mood. We will be back for a special occasion!

Such a great, classic spot! We made reservations online for a Saturday night and were seated immediately upon arrival. We instantly loved the restaurant's high ceilings, which were covered with wooden beams, and the dimly lit rooms with several fire places. Our waitress greeted us soon after we were seated and took our drink order. My boyfriend ordered the Old Fashioned drink special, which he didn't love, but opted to drink anyway. I started with French Onion soup and it was really good with plenty of melted cheese on top. For our entrees, I got the Seafood Imperial pasta special, which was cavatelli pasta with shrimp, crab and lobster in a sherry cream sauce topped with breadcrumbs. It was fantastic -- perfectly cooked and loaded with seafood! My boyfriend ordered the prime rib and it was a HUGE piece that was cooked perfectly to his liking. For dessert, we couldn't decide so we ordered the chocolate chip cookie skillet and the strawberry rhubarb mousse with almond cake. The skillet was so delicious and the cookie was cooked perfectly. The rhubarb mousse was amazing and I wished there was more of it. Overall, the food, service and ambiance were amazing! I highly recommend the Wishing Well, especially for a date night or special occasion.

Bread is from a local bakery and worth ordering. The hamburger comes highly recommended but I tried the pasta special which was excellent. My wife love her halibut but my daughter who is vegan didn't love her cauliflower entree. The hazelnut tart was exceptional. The restaurant is cozy and has a good ambiance. I requested to sit at the chef's table because I really do like to see what's going on in the kitchen and our reservation is at 7:15 and we arrived a half hour early and we're able to be sat so that was nice. We were greeted by one of the servers in the restaurant and then shortly after another came by and asked if we wanted still or sparkling water and that our server would be there with us in a second. It took a little bit longer for our server to come by and he took our drink orders. The line chef started to realize that our server was taking quite a while so we asked us what he wanted him to start so that he can relay it to our server when he got around to us, and I thought that was very nice and great that he recognized that we were waiting for quite a while. Our server finally came back with our drinks and asked what we wanted to get started and we told him that they already started our appetizers. He also didn't come back for quite a while after that and he finally asked us what we wanted for dinner and he didn't ask how the food was or anything. He just said OK cool and put in our food order. When we got our actual entrée, I had the New York strip steak and my husband had the scallops and they were very good. We ordered those entrées because the line chef said they were good and we wouldn't be disappointed and we were not. Our server finally came back around after everyone else buster plates and asked if we wanted anything for dessert and we already made up our mind what we wanted. I ordered the coconut rice pudding and my husband ordered the pistachio cheesecake. Both of those were also very good highly recommend them if you have room at the end of your meal. Our server then came back with our bill and just randomly said he took off one of our desserts because of the weight which was nice but he didn't really acknowledge anything else. We thought it was very odd but also we were happy about that. This restaurant was very good and I think the staff is very in tuned to what's going on in the restaurant if something is not as it should and they communicate to others if they need to start food for people or accommodate other people's needs so that's the only reason that I'm giving it a 4 because the server we had wasn't great but the food and everything else was awesome.

What a gem. What a vibe. WHAT a cocktail menu…read more Tucked away, totally unpretentious, but with a STAGGERING, almost-unbelievable range of martinis and martini-adjacent cocktails in this fall/winter-perfect, cozy, mostly-paneled speakeasy that's also evocative of a semi-secret lobby bar of an old hotel (it's not though!) Even the music selections made it sound like prohibition era jazz standards were drifting in from another room. It manages to be simultaneously totally old school and totally hip, fancy-feeling and swanky, but also with the ease of a local watering hole... no easy feat. From t-shirts to suits, locals to newbies, it has a totally come-as-you-are, everybody's-welcome atmosphere. Even the locals made us feel at home, giving us great insight into several restaurants all less than a block or two away. Wines and beers also available, but mixology is the main act here. We were there over two separate bartender shifts, both times on a quiet Sunday late-afternoon into evening, but both gents have it all down to a science without forsaking the art of crafting a cocktail. They pushed my formerly-favorite Manhattan (at NYC's King Cole Bar, there, as much for the environs as the drink) squarely out of the top spot, and as I told our bartender after I spied a semi-hidden bottle of Chartreuse and he offered to make an off-the-menu Last Word, it was the first time I fully understood that drink. That hard-to-find liquid green-gold is in VERY good hands at 9 Maple! Perfect for date night, but also welcoming to the lone visitor in search of a PERFECTLY crafted, amply -poured cocktail. Eat before you arrive, or pop back after dinner for a nightcap. Although we were there for off-season, an outdoor courtyard hints at higher traffic when the weather's warmer and the horses are racing. And even off-season, Jazz band nights attract a crowd. This place should really be on more national Top Cocktail Bars lists. It's that good.
