The half an order of fries and 3/4 of drink really pulled the meal together. 30 mins in the drive thru gave me plenty of time to asses my life choices (including but not limited to today's lunch decisions), catch up on my understanding of quantum physics, and organize the change in my center console. I get it, I've worked in the service industry, sometimes you just have an off day, there are call outs, equipment goes down...but this isn't the first time or the second time, or even third. This was possibly the worst fast food place I've ever been to in my life. first of all The whole meal was just salty. They also forgot to add Bacon and extra cheese to our "bacon burgers". This location at Bell road and 29th street used to be our favorite location. We tried it again last week, with high hopes and was SO disappointed...won't go back. The guy who took my order got it all wrong---after explaining to him 3 times....he could barely speak English. When I got to the window and nice young man started to read my order back to me and it was still all wrong. Hated keeping ppl waiting behind me. Took a while but finally got it right. I ordered a 3 piece chicken and when I opened the box, two looked normal but for the third, somebody had taken part of a chicken patty and cut two pieces off.... I'll stop there. My co-worker just went and picked up lunch from there. The food was awful. I ordered a simple grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes. Easy enough, right? No. It had no tomatoes and it looked like they put it on the floor and stepped on it. I have given this place multiple chances, but I'm done. I'm from Texas, the birth place of whataburger(Corpus Christi ), to be exact, and find it sad that this location is a representative of the company. The worst part is that it was the manager who took the order. This is it for me. They have put me off of my favorite burger place. I'm not hiding behind anonymity either. Went in on 6/9 at about 12:20 because the drive thru line was long and hadn't moved after a couple minutes of waiting, figuring it might be faster. Placed the order for one burger and fries pretty quickly but once that was done I noticed a few other people waiting around. One older woman looked especially annoyed, not a great sign. Once she got her food she told a kid waiting in line "you're going to be waiting." Another bad sign. Come around 12:50 I saw someone in front of me still hadn't gotten their food so by that point, knowing I had to be back home soon for work, I let the woman up front know to cancel my order. I didn't bother asking for a refund because I didn't have another 30 minutes to waste on that. Whoever does the scheduling at this location has zero idea what they are doing. It's normally slow to get food here, but today was an embarrassment to anyone who claims to know how to run a restaurant. I heard the woman up front tell a customer they are short staffed, which is already a sign things here are bad. Whether it was due to a call out or just bad management isn't clear, but probably something someone should look in to because this is an ongoing problem here. We roll through this place on Sunday nights as it's open later than other spots. The burgers have been ok a few times but these last 2 visits left me with the need to write this review. The last visit was eventful to say the least as 5 men began yelling and cursing each other out before the event descended into a full on brawl. 2 guns fell to the ground in the middle of the skirmish and eventually someone called the cops. The fight wasn't Whataburgers fault but the super restrictive drive through lane pinned us in with no exit and no way to get away from the melee. The neighborhood it's in is very rough so be prepared with a 2A alternative if you're going at night. Tonight's visit may have been my last. I ordered and paid online and selected the curbside pickup option. I got there and a vehicle with a large towing load had blocked the curbside pickup lanes. I went through the drive through and explained. They told me to continue through the drive through for the food. There were only 2 cars in front of me and it took more than 15 minutes to get got the window. When I got there, they read the wrong order off. I told them no and I was there for pick up. No big deal. The young man was nice but still handed me the wrong bags of food. I passed them back to him and he found the correct order. I stopped to review the order and he assured me there was no need because they go by the info on the receipt. I accepted that and drive off... only to discover down the road that food was missing from the order. I had to go back, go inside and ask for the missing food. They brought it back to me and I went home. The bottom piece of bread on my burger was so hard I couldn't eat it. I thumped it with my finger and it didn't move. I should have shaved out the softer piece and used it as a water bowl for our puppy. A missed opportunity indeed. Under breath that rock of a bun bottom was a cold hamburger. There was no heat. None. The cheese was not melted at all and just laying there on the meat. My wife pulled a large hair from her chicken sandwich (we didn't order that topping). Both orders of fries were cold and our pets heads were falling off. To top it off 3 sandwiches, 2 fries, 2 medium drinks and chicken nuggets were over $32!!! Yikes. Anyways, I'd recommend avoiding this spot if you're in a hurry, don't appreciate street fights, need edible food and don't want to use part of your house payment to cover the bill. read more

I eat breakfast here most days. Hands down the best breakfast sausage patty at any restaurant, and not just fast food, even Denny's or IHOP. Best pancakes anywhere, too, although every now and then they're a little crumbly. I tried with a manager to figure out why, but we couldn't. I thought management was willing to go the extra mile by throwing out the mix and making a fresh batch, even though we got the same results. By the time you leave this place you'll be gasping for air saying WHAT A BURGGERRRR. WHEW! Carry on for my review. I've been coming here for 2 years, so my review is a two year study. First thing first to get my 3 star rating out the way, this place is socially awkward. This place lacks soil when it comes to customers, and the people they are hiring are extremely socially awkward. When you look up at them they look down and walk past you, no smile just lifeless until they head back into the kitchen. Who ever is hiring these people just needs to do better with hiring personalities as well, not just a fill in spot worker. It's not all bad though! If you're wondering, yes, come here for food. ALL. THE TIME. The food has always been consistently mouth watering and fresh, the fries with the spicy ketchup is life (GET THE SPICY KETCHUP). I've gotten cold food, literally frozen fries, mixed in with cooked frys and my last two burgers have been so cold the cheese isn't melted at all by the time I've gotten home. Ive done curbside pickup 3 times and ever single time Ive been left sitting out front for at LEAST ten minutes, even though I'm showing up when the food is supposed to be ready. It's usually missing something, or they made it wrong (ie Diet Coke when a regular coke was ordered, gravy is super thin like water). I never write reviews but I'm shocked this place is rated higher than it actually is. I've been going to the Whataburger on 43rd and bell for years now and they've probably messed up my order ONCE. I also worked there for a few months and the management does a good job emphasizing the importance of great customer service. This location however is something like I've never seen at any fast food restaurant. I sh*t you not my friends and I have gone many times and our orders are messed up 8 times out of 10. We literally have to put emphasis on simple requests when we order through the drive-thru to make sure they don't mess up again. Sure enough, they messed up on that exact thing they acted like they payed attention to and literally repeated back to us through the speaker. Please expect them to: not add/remove things from burgers upon request, forget to give you what is on the receipt, reiterate your order through the speaker but the receipt ends up reading otherwise, and giving you medium fries when you payed for a large. That last one's a classic. I gotta give it to them, they're very consistent at messing up orders which is honestly very impressive. I promise you, from my experience working at the company, managing a cash register and reading the board to see exactly what the order looks like is not a challenge and it's pathetic to see how ignorant and idiotic these people are. I went last night with some friends, and these guys have built a reputation at f*cking up our orders so we couldn't help but check the bags for a couple minutes and had to swap a couple bags with them as per usual because they messed up. They had the last laugh because they forgot a chicken strip meal that we payed for and we actually thought it was in the bag at the time. Damn. 2/9/2022, Order 547250, 4:41:05 PM. I ordered a Double Meat No onions with cheese DRY. I got Double Meat WITH ONIONS, MUSTARD. I order Whataburger, with Mustard, tomatoes, onions, and pickles. I got Whataburger NO MUSTARD, NO ONIONS, AND NO PICKLES. The large order of onion rings was correct. The total bill was $17.78. I stopped because the dog's VET appointment lasted longer than I expected. I would watch these crazy Youtube, and fast-food restaurants videos of people going off on the employees because their order is wrong to the point they seem to have lost their mind, I would SMH. Well, today I know how people feel. These employees are paid anywhere from $15.00 to $19.00 an hour. Your job is to get the orders correct. We are paying a lot of money for fast-food in today's world. Get the get orders correct or close your doors. Maybe it's time for law enforcement and judges to start arresting the owners and employees of fast-food restaurants for stealing from people because not getting an order correct is stealing. read more

This place does a great job just about every time. Example: drive thru today, guy working window was Ricardo. Clarified my order back to me after I ordered, polite, and up at the window I could see him hustling with a smile on his face. If they aren't lining this guy up for a management position, they should because his attitude was refreshing. You got a good hire there, so hopefully you do him right. This was the worst fast food restaurant I've been to in a while. I went for milkshakes and waited in line for 10 or 15 minutes which was really no big deal. I understand that the drive thru is very busy now. My problem was that after I had waited for 10 minutes, I get up to order and there is a note taped next to the menu that said that they were out of milkshakes. Now normally this would not have been a problem but again I had been waiting about 10 minutes. So then I was stuck in line because there were several cars behind me. The girl taking my order didn't say ANYTHING to me. No "I'm sorry " nothing. I told the guy at the window that the needed to put I sign up at the entrance of the parking lot. I do love my Whataburger. Nice thing about this place is that they are used to special orders. Mine is a double burger on Texas toast, bacon, 2 kinds of cheese, lettuce onion and tomato, spicy pepper sauce. Sometimes, jalapenos. This location is getting a little worn and needs a refresh. Also, they do not have the online ordering. But the burgers and fries are great. The Malted Shakes are great for dessert too! Give it a try the next time you crave FF meal. read more

Personally I find this very rude for children making as much money as they do to be rude about having to work for thirty extra seconds to try to actually create quality. I am disappointed to say that I went to the Whataburger on Bell Rd and 29th street again to give you guys another chance and once again as expected the service was horrible along with the food. It took over 30 minutes to get my order when it was a mobile order which should only take a few minutes when you get to the curbside parking. My daughter got off the car and the team members refused to assist her, they instead argued amongst themselves about who would help her. At this point I had to get off my vehicle and nobody even acknowledged me after a while they told me it would still take a few more minutes for my order to be ready. Yikes! My husband and I came here a couple of nights ago to satisfy a late night hunger. I had just gotten home from a 13 hr shift at work and was starving. Neither my husband or I have been to Whataburger so decided it was time to try it. What a mistake that was!! We went through the Drive thru, and there was only one car in front of us. That car received their food rather quickly (less than 5 min) and then we pull up to the window. The kid repeats our order: Double cheeseburger, Plain with fries and a diet coke. And a Jalapeno cheeseburger with onion rings and an ice tea. He takes the payment, gives my husband the receipt and we wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. And wait... we weren't really sure how long it was supposed to take since we've never been but 15+ minutes started to seem too long. Noone came back to the window and all the Millennials in the background couldn't have cared any less to come check on us. Finally the manager (assumption it was the manager based off the guys uniform) comes to the window and asked if we had the hamburger and coke. My husband told him no and reminded him what we ordered. The Manager made some comment letting us know the previous employee "just left". Sooooo...like left for the night? Left for good? Who knows, all I know is that after all was said and done (27min) we ended up with cold fries and onions rings as well as 2 cold burgers with hard buns that we couldn't even eat. What a shame and complete waste of time and money!! I will definitely not be back. So let her know when we were ready 30 seconds later and I was rushed to the point I wasn't done ordering when she gave a price and clicked off. So I said hello and a guy came back on. So you know you were being rude that's why you gave the mic to another person. The customer service from this place was terrible enough for me to never go back again.
