This is one of two Whataburgers in Marshall. This one is referenced far less by people that I work around than is the one off Hwy 80 whenever the name "Whataburger" comes up. "J" and I have eaten at this one less often than the other and often forget it is there. Maybe it is the location. This will be the last time ordering at the chain I used to love. Firstly, I needed to use the restroom, I had to wait for the employee that was using it to smoke marijuana. The place was so smoky and smelly it would explain why my order was so bad. I got a whataburger classic burger and when I bit into it, all I could taste was mustard and ketchup. I lifted the bun and there was a pool of each and more condiments than meat. When I took it back in and asked the manager if that was normal she wouldn't answer and would only offer to remake it. So I ordered that one plain and added the condiments myself but the burger still didn't taste like I remember when visiting Texas. So sad to see them go so far downhill. A week later we had an rv camper pull in next to us and say the same quality issues with the whataburger in Sugarland. They two said that was their last visit. read more

The team member was not well versed on the menu yet and no staff member was near to help she had to call out her questions so others could yell out answers. Given she wasn't well versed she didn't add anything as combo meals and charged everything individually. The food took about 30 mins for 2 burgers and a 3 piece tender with fries. So overall the service was very slow. When they brought the food and the tray of condiments over they only had one ketchup on it vs the traditional full tray of options. The burgers were still cold and the buns were stale/hard. I will say the gravy for chicken strips was flavorful and very hot! Overall not the experience we wanted to have. Prices are a little higher than your typical food chain but the portions are larger. The restaurant is large and we found good seating. They also have high chairs available. Im not normally one to complain or write reviews about restaurants but this. This was bad. First off went through the drive through ordering two meals and a free shake i was going to use an offer on the app for. Well i pull up and try to show the lady my phone to scan the barcode for the shake, she tells me that I have to pay first, so confused i gave her my card first. And then show my phone to her again. She ignores me to talk to a coworker and then starts to pass me my drinks while Im holding out the phone to Her the whole time, and them remarks, you are supposed to scan the offer before paying maam and rolls her eyes at me like i haven't been holding out my phone to her the whole time. Doesn't even try to fix it just shuts the glass window and starts talking to her coworker again, opens it again to give me my food without a word. We decided to check our food before driving off and we had none of the condiments we asked for, so we basically had to have a staring contest with the window till someone finally opened to ask what's wrong, we tell them we are missing the condiments, the lady then argues that we didn't say that at the speaker hands them To us, says here ya go and then closes the window. And then we get home, I started to breastfeed my kids and polished off my soda, proceeding to take off the lid cause i was like yay i can eat the ice being thirsty and all, and lo and behold I find a bug in my ice. Just grabbed a late night bite on our way home to Dallas and I have to say I'm highly impressed with this Whataburger! First (and most important), the service from JaQuelyn was top tier. He was friendly, efficient and so polite. Second, my chicken strip sandwich was cooked perfectly. Nicely toasted and not overly sauced. Probably the best one I've had. I can't speak to the ambiance because we used the drive thru. If I ever find myself back in Marshall I will definitely be stopping by. read more

When I first noticed the "In God We Trust" was missing I ask questions. Turns out, they aren't a Texas company anymore, but a Chicago company as of 2019-2020. I didn't think that would be an issue until today. It appears that Chicago fries soak in oil (probably overnight from taste), which I find inedible. I think they let it get some extra soaking in while we were waiting 15 minutes. Once home, fries went straight to the trash. We did get quite a show watching one guy return his order 3 times. Of course, we were held hostage in the double lane of limbo, so there was little else to do. Imagine a well oiled machine then think the opposite. The Whattaburger machine runs full open with no oil which catches on fire, explodes and possibly causes nuclear fallout. The ambience was chaos. This ain't the Alamo, so you can quit this business. Pouring more business into this Chicago company only makes the product worse and the pockets of the enemy fatter. I say this without equivocation, as Texans may speak slow but we're not as dumb as they think in Chicago. It's gone downhill since Texas lost control and it has bottomed out for me. They'll be a huge success based on name until people figure out it's hardly edible and has horrible service. Hopefully the people of Kansas also like good food and service, which will thwart that planned marketing expansion push. To the Business: Offer me no refund, coupons etc. It would be wasted. Reason for the one star is we ordered to dine in and the homeless gentleman the manager allows to stay in and continuously walk around the dining area can be smelled from two or three tables over. He would get up and walk around the dining area and then outside before returning inside and walking around the area again. He never order anything, he just hung out. This was my first visit to Whataburger. I was very excited. The employee at the cash register was pleasant. I ordered the triple Whataburger with cheese. It was almost too much burger. I debated taking the rest with me. However, I pushed through it. I had to sacrifice eating the rest of my fries to do it. Although, it would be nice to have them closer to home; I'm glad we don't have them. I would eat there all the time. No joke. The restaurant was clean. It was not busy so we had our choice of seating. The decor looked like a fast food place in a movie. The restroom was also clean. That's something I really appreciate. This is our go - to spot for a delicious burger in town. It probably won't be quick, but it will be delicious. Everyone we speak to in the store is consistently friendly, and the staff is attentive. The bathrooms are clean, too. People who complain about the amount of time it takes for their order to be processed may be unfamiliar with Whataburger's policy to freshly cook food to order. I personally appreciate that. For those people who want a fast meal more than they want a good one, there's a McDonald's just down the road that might be a better option. read more

Unclean atmosphere and terrible service. We stopped while on travel for a quick meal, which we soon regretted. We waited to order while several employees chatted in the kitchen. Normally it wouldn't bother me but the conversation was not work related. We placed our order and paid then sat at the table. Only one order was brought to us. Decent, but not outstanding burger. And good, but not outstanding fir a Whataburger. Food is probably 85 percentile for WB, but service is hit or miss. Friendly enough but very slow for WB. I have to say, Marshall TX has a nice Whataburger. We usually stop at Whataburger for breakfast since they have two things we love: table service and strong coffee! The person taking orders is always rude like she just hates her job, and if you order a double meat Whataburger and you want cheese, make sure you specify you want two pieces of cheese, otherwise you will only get one. I've never been to a Whataburger where I've had to tell them I want two pieces of cheese on a double cheeseburger, but if not, you might be disappointed. The fries are never good from here either.
